I am enjoying this team for what it is right now - ahead of schedule and still continuing to grow as a team. There are still holes on the roster and the depth isn't quite there yet even though the farm is in a much better place. This is a fun team to watch and root for and has actually made me excited for baseball again. But this team isn't winning the division this year. I fully expect them to be in WC contention all year due to the state of the AL as a whole. I don't see this team falling off a cliff and going through a long losing streak but they will struggle at times. It's going to be a fun summer of White Sox baseball.

Went to the game, my first time this year. Did my old trick of buying an upper deck ticket and then finding a spot in the 100 level to sit. Got lucky and had a great spot 8 rows off the field just past 3rd base. That might be the last time I get to do that on a weekend. Obviously had a blast at the game and the atmosphere in the park was electric. I think the dudes with the shirts off thing is dumb, but they were having a blast and that energy just added to the atmosphere. That catch by Ant in the 8th was awesome to see live. I've been very anti-JR these last few years; didn't go to a game in 23 or 24 and only went once last year on the day they had the Aparicio bobblehead giveaway. But I had a blast yesterday and this team is just fun to watch and root for. I'll definitely get to a few more games this year.

Exactly. They are exceeding expectations right now which is great, but there's a whole lot of baseball left. Even if they are still hovering around a WC spot in July I don't want them to be buyers because that means you're taking assets away from what you've been trying to build the last 3 years. Let these guys play and continue to keep progressing forward but stay the course. We want this team to be competitive for years, not just this year.

The development window of this team at the MLB level is closing. There are still going to be guys who come up and need to adjust to the league and whatnot, but the team as a whole is past that stage. They're starting to take the next step to being a competitive team on a daily basis, and there's no time or room at this point to let someone "figure it out". If Acuna wants to prove he can be a viable everyday player then he needs to start showing that when he gets playing time.

The ownership stuff is confusing so I used AI to dig into things a little more and well, nothing is going to change until 2029 at the earliest, no matter what might happen. He cannot become the controlling owner before 2029 This is the hard wall. #1 - How much capital? I don't know what a ton means here in terms of dollars. Thought it was reported earlier this year he is putting up about $100 million to help pay down debt. Do we have any other info or is it just speculation? #2 - Right, he's bought up shares as part of his bid to eventually buy the team. That's not what I would call "pouring billions of dollars into a vanity project". #3 - I'm not a moron We're all desperate for new Ownership. We're all excited knowing Ownership will be changing in the near future. But I don't think he's acting like a silent owner/partner where he is making decisions behind the scenes that impact the day to day operations of the Org. I might be wrong, but there is nothing currently happening that makes me think he's involved as others seem to think.

But he's not putting billions of dollars into this project. He has an agreement to buy the team in 2034. Maybe he gets lucky and he gets to buy in 2029. But he isn't infusing the org with hundreds of millions of dollars right now. He isn't running anything in regards to the day-to-day operations of the Club. I'm sure he sits in on meetings and is kept informed about things that are happening, but beyond that his focus is most likely on a new stadium. Whatever money he has agreed to spend on the team to help reduce debt and whatnot was most likely negotiated as part of the agreement they made.

If he were to sell the team today for 2 billion he'd owe about $465 million in capital gains taxes (23.8%) and about $100 million in IL State taxes (4.95%). That's a rough estimate based solely on his purchase price of $40 million and the sell price.

I'm cherry picking stats here, but he had 0 homeruns and 11 RBI since August 15. 134 plate appearances in that stretch.

Watch the first 5 minutes of the video. It's clear from the words actually spoken by the man that he was not shafted and that the Sox gave him an opportunity that he himself knew was a long shot. He then goes on to talk about how he can't pitch like he used to and knows it is something in his head that is causing that.

What, exactly, are optimists "celebrating" around here? I don't see anyone "celebrating", I see people pointing out and talking about positive things they see from this team/org. If that's considered celebrating then you need a new definition of that word. And good franchises don't expect excellence, they expect results. Big difference.

Is it? Aside from Robert and possibly Houser is there anyone else on the roster that a team might be interested in?
