Sox planning more playing time for Vargas/Fletcher
Falstaff replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have a glimmer of hope for some development with Grady even if he's in place just for the rest of the season. As a fan my heart is pulling for Sizemore to get the manager's job in 2025, but we have been down this road before. An experienced manager is what is needed for this train wreck of a franchise, but if they are considering hiring a stiff, I would advocate for keeping Grady. -
MLB considering 6IP minimum for starters
Falstaff replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That was the first thing I thought when I heard of this. I would rather see MLB play around setting up a rule where pitchers are designated as either starters or relievers, so the "bullpen" start is eliminated. -
Agree 100%

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox

With the Marlins making changes in the Front Office / Scouting, could the Sox pick up some Scouting help? Marlins make 'stunning' changes, firing multiple front office execs and scouts | Sporting News -
Every time Burger gets a hit my brother-in-law informs me, Jake was one of his favs.

Kopech w/LA 5 games, 5 IP, 8 Ks, no walks. ERA 0.00, 1-0.

11 walks, 2 errors, 2 men thrown out at home plate against the 2nd highest run scoring team in MLB. 18 hits and 12 runs can cover up some bad baseball, woohoo !!

Going forward I don't have confidence in Getz to turn this historic dumpster fire around. I will give him credit for signing Fedde, finding players at garage sale level is where this franchise is at.
-
I think Benny is going to get packaged with Crochet in a trade this offseason, Getz will get jack in return.

I have heard her name mentioned, she's got money, is a Sox fan, and loves Chicago
-
I would love to see the name get leaked out and give Sox fans hope.

Draft well, develop talent, make wise trades requires BAU money. I always enjoy Todd Welter's and his guest's on Locked on White Sox, Interesting comments by Sean Anderson around the 30:50 mark about possible new owner already in place.

Crochet cites “mechanical issue” for poor outings
Falstaff replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All I want is Crochet to be 100% healthy going into the spring. -
I have read Lip for a long time on numerous White Sox message boards. I would suggest anyone to read some of his interviews, I find them very entertaining.

I am with you on the youngsters but only if they are ready. Why doesn't he at least bring up some of the young pitching? Getz will give Vargas a long look because he traded for him.

How about Robert hits a walk off tonight to get the old juices going.

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
Falstaff replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have always enjoyed Stone and fully understand his angst having to watch this crap firsthand. If JR was paying me to watch, I would hire Scot Boras so I could at least get well compensated. I am on the Gordo train if Steve does pull the plug, Beckham YES !! I will not be buying the new tv package the Sox/Bulls/Hawks will be rolling out at the end of this year. In the spring if the Sox make legit changes to this squad I will reconsider. -
I went back and edited my post from Thursday. I removed the part that I said it appears that Robert has checked out. To be fair I do not have clue what he is thinking. He is in a major slump, and it looks bad but he is an elite ballplayer.
-
We are stuck with Getz for a while or until JR sells. Positives: Bannister, pitching development. Weaknesses: Scouting, position player & batting development, International Free Agents. Any ideas how the Sox can to tap into the International market ? , Another Maggs or even Carlos Lee would be a nice find.

Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
Falstaff replied to Ozzie for Manager's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good catch on Strasburg. The first 3 posts in the thread mention Rendon, Bryant, Baez, and Trout. Here is what is owed, excluding bonuses: Rendon: 2 years, $77.1 million. He is mostly likely physically done. Bryant: 4 years, $108 million. Good guy but just breaking down, he also might be physically done. I read now he has arthritis setting in, not good. Baez: 3 years, $73 million. Javy is the most physically able on this short list, he still a plus defender, solid ballplayer, but his bat has gone away. Trout: 6year, $222 million. In the last 5 years he has missed a ton of games. He is still a stud if he can stay on the diamond and not the trainer's room. -
It is really a shame that the Sox cannot get maximum production out of Robert. A massive amount of talent, 5 tool, but this franchise is a joke top to bottom. Where is the hitting coach? Who is working with Robert? This is the franchise's 1 legit star position player. Just a meaningless rant on my part, nothing will change until a new owner comes in.

The Athletic had a story on Larry Sheets losing 21 in a row with the 1988 Orioles and now his son Gavin loses 21 in a row with the Sox. I hope the White Sox don't draft the grandson.

The brunette on the right is Alanna Rizzo, she is on the MLB Network, one of the shows she does is High Heat with Mike "Mad Dog" Russo. I am not familiar with the blonde on the left, but she knows her stuff. Alanna Rizzo is well informed and not just a talking head, she knows baseball and talks baseball all day. The fact that she can get a word in edge wise with Mad Dog Russo is an accomplishment by itself.
