The Athletic: Must Read article on Jerry Reinsdorf/White Sox

Sox Optimism: 2025 pitching far exceeds expectations and proves to be a huge building block. My Optimism: Win a 5 time Powerball rollover and buy Jerry out. -
The State/City is not going to pay for The 78 stadium besides roads, sewers, infrastructure. jerry can find a billionaire to partner up with if he wants it that bad. The Sox are not moving out of Chicago, isn't happening. With a new owner the Sox can thrive in Chicago. The over the air tv package is actually brilliant, it will expose the Sox/Bulls/Hawks to 650, 000 potential viewers that don't have sports packages on their tv's.

I read the Athletic article and outside of the type of plane the Sox use any Sox talk member could have written it. Sad state of affairs. -
His best chance to win was 1969 with 4 HoF players and a HoF manager and they crashed and burned.

I lived the whole experience as a diehard Sox fan. WGN TV and radio was responsible for creating Cub fans in Chicago, down state, Iowa long before becoming a Super Station. St. Louis Cardinals did the same thing with their 50,000-watt blow torch KMOX. The Cardinals built a loyal fanbase throughout the South. The direct contrast was Dollar Bill Wirtz approach. The Sox were somewhere in between with their channel 44 and complete failure SportsVision. I am not disputing anything Dick Allen said about who out drew who, Cubs or Sox. I have argued almost using the same exact words with my buddy who was a Cub fan, god rest his soul. I am just trying to point out the road that got us here.

It's a slight of hand trick by Jerry, the city and state better check to make sure their wallets are still in their back pockets and watches are on their wrist's. hocus pocus alakazam

I thought it was a slam off the bat, man did he smoke that ball. -
PK Wrigley was a pioneer in the belief of the power of television and baseball, way ahead of his time.
-
Thats the easy answer, now go back and do some research on PK Wrigley , you might learn something you didn't know

I have the Sox as my regional sports team with my Direct TV, Marquee is also part of the package. If I can get the Sox free on antenna, then I will drop regional sports package. It doesn't sit well with me that Ricketts is getting my money. Interesting article in the Tribune Chicago Sports Network to launch Oct. 1 on DirecTV and free TV (chicagotribune.com) (sorry pay wall ) PK Wrigley built the Cubs fanbase on free tv, the Sox are targeting the 15% of people that will never pay for tv

Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later
Falstaff replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As a fan I can only rant so much and then move on. If the Sox are on their way to another 30 something win season next year I will be out early. -

Abe Simpson comes to mind -
This situation reminds me of the hapless Bears with their GM search and how they continually got it wrong. Eventually the Sox will get this right, it is not going to happen with JR owning the team.
-
I am thankful Poles and Ian Cunningham came aboard and rebuilt the roster. I am so impressed with them and what they have done so far. Warren....... ever since that presser with the mayor I have my doubts. I would not be surprised if the Bears sell the AH property and end up remodeling the existing Soldier Field. Warren isn't going to get the okay to build a new stadium on the lake front even if he does get the funding. The Bears will be facing lawsuits from the Friends of the Park. At best the Bears probably can get the go ahead to remodel. Hey 3 more years down in Champaign!!!!
-
I am still 100% for the new stadium on the river. I hope when I am dead and gone the Chicago White Sox still exist for future White Sox fans. With this new stadium and new owner, the Sox will be here for a long time.
-
Bears willing to work with White Sox on Stadium funding. Kevin Warren: Bears willing to work with White Sox on stadium funding – NBC Chicago If this was already posted I apologize.
-
MM thanks for sharing, I did not know the Cardinals played their last season in Soldier Field or that they played 2 games up in Minnesota, great info. If the Cardinals stayed in Chicago, I probably would have the Cardinals #1 the Bears #2

Future Sox should be in charge of International Scouting until someone is selected.
-
They looked like a normal MLB team last night.

I agree that Showalter would be a good teacher and manager
