Players I do not want on the Sox: "I was in a position to where I hate to say I was going through the motions. You know you’re not playing for anything other than your own career, and when you don’t want to play a selfish game because it’s not a selfish game, it makes it really hard." Players I want on the Sox: " I am in a position to show leadership through work ethic, attitude, and communication to inspire my teammates to never quit and pull together as a team." Real World : If your wife/girlfriend asks you if she looks fat in an outfit, answer : "no, you look great" , anything she's cooks is delicious, her new hair style is awesome.

I am a Sox fan today because of Bill Melton and the group he came up with. I will always think of Bill along with the changing of the guard with young guns coming onboard, Bart Johnson Terry Forster, Ed Herrmann, Carlos May, and Rich Gossage a year or so later I had the pleasure of meeting Bill in person at Camelback when I took my dad to Spring Training. What a great guy, heaven just got better.

I always believed the Sox would have won the West in 1972 with Belt' in Bill in the lineup. Detroit was an aging team at the time, you never know. I will say the Sox had a magical season single handily fueled by Dick Allen, add in a 30 HR season from Melton and it would have been game on.

This is my all-time favorite SI cover. It's hard to explain how big of a deal it was to back in the day to get on the SI cover.

Suddenly 121 losses don't look so bad.

I read a fan say he lost his emotional attachment to the Bears, it was probably after the Hail Mary pass at Washington. We need White Sox Spring Training to get us charged up, LET'S GO !!!

Whoa Nelly, I may not have ever warmed up to George Halas or the McCaskey's but to go over to the Packers? I think that would take time to reflect and walk the earth to decide ....NEVER 🙂

Being a sports nut my whole life the only team I actually really care about are the White Sox. If the Cardinals were still in Chicago, I probably would cheer for them over the Bears. My comparison for franchises would be the Sox & Cardinals, two sad sack teams.

Does the Competitive Balance Tax (Luxury Tax) work as intended ?
Falstaff replied to tray's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If MLB had a S&P 30, the Sox rating would be CCC. -
Sox Festivus will include the airing of grievances, Festivus pole, wrestling and of course autographs for the youngsters .

Sammy Peralta and Nicky Lopez clear waivers & elect free agency
Falstaff replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nicky has value but not on a team like the White Sox. I could see a contending team in need of a late inning defensive player/base runner/ spot starter. I would be surprised if Lopez doesn't get signed. -
Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
Falstaff replied to Timmy U's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have selective amnesia about the 2024 season which could be mistaken for Alzheimer's by some. To be totally honest I have an optimistic view of the Sox, JR aside. Any Sox fan that wants to gripe about the team has carte blanche. The fact that they are posting here shows that they are still fans. Fans pointing out faults are better than fans overtaken with apathy. -

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
Falstaff replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want the Sox to keep him and consider extending him at the end of the season. Also get involved in the FA market, what does JR care about the cost ?, just sell the team in the next 2 -3 years. -
Dick Allen, Tommy John up for HOF Consideration
Falstaff replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In 1967 I was 10 years old, we went on a 2-week family vacation. We drove from Chicago to New Orleans and then to Biloxi Mississippi, Mobile Alabama and Pensacola Florida. I saw firsthand the way blacks were treated and couldn't believe it. I could just imagine a ballplayer like Dick Allen growing up in Pennsylvania and the culture shock he went through and the emotional scars he endured. So many black and brown players before Allen paved the way and are never heard of or talked about, it's sad. 1966 was the year the first Black football player was allowed to play in the SEC. -
Dick Allen, Tommy John up for HOF Consideration
Falstaff replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In 1963 Dick Allen was the first black professional baseball player in the state of Arkansas. This might sound unbelievable but add in he did this at the height of the Civil Rights Movement. If you want to look at Allen's career stats and discount him because he didn't hit 500 homers or 3,000 hits, I think you have to understand the struggles he went through in Arkansas and then Philly for being born black and how that impacted hiss baseball career. if I had a vote Dick Allen would have already been in the HoF. I am digging Venable officially on board, let the process begin. Step 1: Excavation
-
I tried to watch every White Sox podcast yesterday and there was plenty of positivity on the Venable hire. I'm still pumped on the Sox getting their man and looking forward to the presser today.
-
With the hiring of Venable, I will have to adjust the 2025 White Sox win total to 117. (Sox get swept in ALDS) The Chicago White Sox will be the only team in MLB history to set 2 modern day records in back-to-back seasons.

Got to start somewhere, scouting, analytics, manager

Chuck Tanner took over the 1971 team that was coming off a 106 loss season. 1972 the Sox were in 1st place as late as August 28th, ahead of the A's who went on to win 3 straight WS. 1972 was my favorite baseball season outside of 2005. To this day I still find joy in that 2nd place team. The White Sox will be contenders again, it is going to happen, and this could be the beginning of the process.
