QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 12:17 PM) Hawk used to say, "I love to watch Ray run." I love to watch Eaton run. First to home, who is faster? for me, there are a lot of great runners, but the one I enjoyed in every aspect of the game was Julio Cruz. I remember 1 game in minny, the minny dugout was razzing either him or the sox, on 1 at bat, he ckecked swing the hit the ball into the dugout, 3 times. I was laughing esp when the ump was talking to him. here is the question, how can the ump, and I bet he knew it, can accuse him for doing it on purpose?

QUOTE (newguy @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 07:39 PM) I really feel that has been the key to Brad's success so far is that he is simply not giving up free passes. He's only had 10 - 3-ball counts in 62 plate appearances. (16%) He exclusively throws from the stretch, so there's no adjustments needed going from a windup to the stretch. Less moving parts means less chance for a mechanical error & less things to think about since it's just a repeat of the throwing motion just like the previous pitch. He is throwing strikes at 66% rate & first pitch strikes at 68%. When you get ahead of hitters basically 2/3 of the time, advantage goes to the pitcher every time. I keep track of his 1-1 count pitches as well & since that's the 2nd most important pitch. (after the FPS) There's about a .200 point swing in batting avg. if that 1-1 pitch is a strike vs. a ball, he is at 67% throwing a 1-1 strike. He's still got a long way to go, but he is very focused & dedicated & I'm very proud of him for that. welcome to the site, these guys are the best knowledgeable group of people you can find. the mods do a wonderful job outside being professional baseball employees. I was taught in the 70's when I was playing ball the second pitch the was equally important is the running high fast ball which was perfected by, according to my coach, sandy kofax (sp) . only to being use sparingly when you need a K. no offense, who is your son?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 12:21 PM) I think I actually like the second one in the Hobbit series more than the first, but you always knew it was going to pale in comparison to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Can't say it was the wrong step not to have the Hobbit first, because the interest might have waned before they ever got to LOTR. Sort of like what happened with the C.S. Lewis series following The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. cs lewis movies were great and entertaining. with re the hobbit, it is about the action. that is why I am thinking the last one is going to be even better. the 5 armies and the battle. the lord of the rings (lotr) trilogy, was always better. I read all the books and it just grab me and I couldn't put it down until I finished. anyways, the cost of making the movie and the rtn, peter jackson needed the success of lotr to finance everything else. btw, a side note, peter jackson made their investment including salary, they made it back on the first hobbit. these last 2 are nothing but shear profit.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 05:27 AM) With Sale, Quintana, and presumably Rodon, Sox don't need to invest resources an another Ace level starter. What the Sox need is pitching depth. The gains from that aren't as great as the gains we would get from a couple of 3/4s, a LF who can hit. Or a 2b. if we make a trade fine, if not we can add the final pieces thru FA's. with Dank in the lineup, and again no off season trades, I still think the sox need a very good sp. while there is high hopes for Rodon, I am not going to put all my eggs in the basket so to speak, as we did last off season. a catcher is needed, dh and rp are needed. a few pickups will get the sox into the playoff. look at this yr, this is a rebuilding yr and yet the sox came close and the season is still not over.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 03:40 AM) Giants make too much sense for Beckham with cain hurting, I think they will be looking for a pitcher more than a position player. why not both and we kick in some salary relief for some prospects.

QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 01:09 AM) When Eaton and Micah are both on the sox, I would think Micah would be better served in the 8 spot in the line up when he initially comes up for three reasons, take pressure off of him while getting acclimated at the major league level, provide speed at the bottom of the order and line up construction so opposing managers can't just use a LOOGY for two outs in Eaton, Micah and Conor at the top of the order. I really like the idea of Alexei batting #2

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 12:12 AM) Talked to Dan Hayes on Twitter. He said he hears that some of the Danks talk is manufactured. on a wild guess, by whom do you think it was, us to them.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) You also need to consider tools, not just stats when evaluating a prospect. He's a 23 year old 3B who brings plus power and plays good defense at the hot corner, and is very age appropriate for Triple A. That alone puts him ahead of many prospects. He may never hit better than .220 in the majors, but at the same time if he can hit 20 HRs and play good defense at third, he can be a good bench player and stick around for a few years. Simply put, he has a higher ceiling and floor than many prospects in our system. the main problem I have with prospect list is the inconsistency of how the ratings go from one baseball source to another. who is right who is wrong, no-one and everyone. I wish the guideline is used for a fair eval. however with that, I can't wait for the new list to come out. I think these guys do a great job. oh, fyi, the sox are now ranked 20.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 06:53 PM) You're here on Soxtalk.com, this isn't work. And you aren't getting Malware from here, either. There are plenty of malware free websites out there that are very entertaining. Besides, as I said earlier, if you're that worried about it and you use AdBlock or AdBlock+, download the malware domains list, it prevents access to any address listed as a malware site, and it's updated all the time. Another extensions you can use is called WOT (Web of Trust). If you insist on browsing random sites for entertainment, I'd highly recommend using those...instead of blaming Chrome. and this whole discussion was started for people who has or had problems with IE - Internet - browsing. most users are not that knowledgeable. it is for other people to help them not to spout out on how good you or they are. here is another tidbit, many computer people outside the US thinks of americans, regardless of sex, and race, as being lazy. the reason is normal basic knowledge is there for them to learn and if not at least learned it from sites /subsites like this. again you are making a generalize statement that it is I who is having the problem. BTW >>>>> this is my last post on this for the moment. I will be back this evening.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) You're talking about drive by -- I know what it is...and the only thing that can allow drive by is the thing between the keyboard and the chair. If you or anyone else gets malware by browsing websites, YOU or that person caused it themselves. There will always be malware sites, but the good news is you DON'T have to browse to them. Ever. and what is the use of using the computer except for work. posters need entertainment.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) Oh ok then...with all your training and all. I'm probably the most qualified person on this board when it comes to this, so save it. Now, to correct you, you do NOT get malware from Facebook UNLESS you click on external links. Stop being fooled by half naked girls with the tag line "you won't believe what this woman did with her bikini" pictures, and again, you won't get malware. You did NOT get malware simply by going to facebook. You have all these extensions installed, yet you didn't install a popup blocker like Adblock, or hell, check the box in Chrome that DOESN'T ALLOW POPUPS. Innocent browsing does NOT get people malware. Browsing to untrustworthy sites does. what make you think you are the only one trained???? again posters will always click the external links for innocent browsing, Last yr, the FBI warned the US of this kind of browsing. MIT even shut down one of the European cells that is responsible for some of the malware. so obviously they know nothing b/c YOU know better. give me a break you are stuck on yourself.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) Getting the overwhelming feeling that nothing will happen for the Sox by thursday. Might be able to pawn off Beckham and Dunn on somebody after the deadline passes through waivers, but not very encouraged that anything of consequence will happen by 3 on thursday. not if the other GM's are trying to ask for an ungodly amount for a rtn or not enuf.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) Because porn sites are the most common spreaders of malware. So I merely made an educated guess. But as I said above, if you know its an extension doing this to you, how can you blame Chrome? Stop using the extension. also facebook gives off a lot of malware as does porker sites. innocent browsing by some gets the malware esp during popups. ref to your educated guess.... you are wrong.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) Also a very good point. Eaton sees a ton of pitches when he wants to do so. he is the best the sox have now to be a leadoff batter. it would be great if we got a players that will able to steal a vast amount of bases..... maybe in the minors however they would have to prove themselves.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) As I said to another user here, if you are getting malware, it is NOT Chrome's fault. Chrome, out of the box is more secure than FF is, by far. Stop browsing s***ty porn sites, and maybe that problem will go away. I do not go to porn site and just stay within the sports sites. chrome as of the last month or so, started to dl what I call the avg package, along with avg comes search protect, pc opt, ask search, etc..... it auto d/l'ed them. saying chrome is more secure, I would disagree. google is more secure not chrome. in addition how can you say that I am browsing porn???? you know nothing of me or my web activity.

all this may be for naught, according to mlb trade rumors, there may be a problem with danks and his salary...... damn, we could really use a ready for the majors catcher.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 05:38 PM) Awesome. Sherlock is the best show on tv, outside of GOT. I am starting to rewatch all of the sherlocks and I forgot how great they were. for those who haven't watch them, here is s1e1 on veoh. http://www.veoh.com/watch/v30405960N2xG7WC...A+Study+in+Pink the esp in which Jim Moriarty was absolutely the best.... I am glad the actor got an emmy. you know what, they are bringing Moriarty back, I don't know how..... but it is going to be fun. s1e3 was so funny with Moriarty at the pool.....

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) S4 or the special they're doing before s4? for what I am able to get out of the ads and write up, the special is somewhere around xmas and the regular se4 starts the new yr.... I guess they may be trying to get some of the over flow of the hobbit final movie.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) I guess the national baseball media has really been hard on the Astros this year...and the Astros' version of SoxTalk, some of the main writers are wondering why all of a sudden the local media (it would be like if the Trib and Sun-Times suddenly had White Sox players anonymously complaining about Robin Ventura's managerial style or Don Cooper or something that always stays in the clubhouse leaking). Also, this idea that it's so weird or unusual for a minor league prospect to stop by in the morning on his way to another assignment (when he has to go from Lancaster, CA to Corpus Christi and Houston's in the middle anyway)...to work with the major league pitching coach. It's obviously a pretty negative environment in Houston right now....and the team has also gone into another tailspin after getting close to respectability about a month ago. Interestingly, nobody's complaining about possibly trading those three starters. Just that they might not get as much as they want for Kuechel (or Keuchel, however you spell it) and that Cosart has a reputation for being difficult for everyone to deal with (your basic prima dona, pain in the ass), so that might also hurt his value too despite having the best stuff of the three. thanks .... I feel like an idiot for not being able to interpret it. again thanks.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 04:36 AM) I love chrome. chrome appears to have change, now they are a portal for redirectors and spyware programs. constantly check your add / remove programs and remove programs that appeared on your computer. run your scans before you shut down. remove any extra toolbars. firefox is the best.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 03:48 AM) http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2014/7/28/594...-reporters-with On whether there's a bias in the media now against the Astros' front office I just don't know, are they trying to soft soap HOU miss deeds by reporting that HOU has subtly improve the talent in the minors? I will admit I am confused on the intent of the article.
