QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) I really dont like watching "The Ultimate Fighter" but I might make an exception to watch Henderson coach. I love TUF and I've been watching MMA for many years. The UK guys are going to add a ton of character to the show this year. Fight night was good. The Griffin/Dos Anos fight and the main event were very good fights, Bader fight wasn't action packed but he showed that with more training he can be a beast at 205 and Browning got tapped quickly

An earlier post mentioned Smith in Ali and how he got in shape... now let me make this 100% abundantly clear, I am NOT specifically talking about Smith in Ali because I have no clue how he did it, but many movie stars use steroids or other PEDs to get in shape for movies. AGAIN I AM NOT SINGLING OUT SMITH IN ALI Also, aside from any PED use, this is their job. If any of us had lots of cash and endless time we would be able to workout and diet and max out our genetic potentials

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) Absolutely right... but this is why I don't think the Broncos will want the #1 pick. The Bears are actually in a good position to make this deal IMO because they hold a mid round pick, where DEN could maybe take Sanchez at 12 and then add defense at 18 -- both players should cost about as much as Stafford would at number 1. We shall see though I agree with you, I don't think the Broncos would want the #1 overall, it's too burdensome of a contract. If a deal gets done with Detroit I would guess it would invovle the #20 overall pick and others -

Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) I loathed Pods, but he definitely is a better player than Wise, even as a CF. I think the Sox should go for it and give him a short leash. As soon as his first sports hernia injury occurs put him on the DL and then waive him when he comes off. I'm with you on this. It's not a great option, but compared to Wise I would take it everyday and twice on Sunday -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) Anyone else really impressed by the job Billy Beane's done this offseason? The guy seems to be able to overhaul a roster faster then anyone in the majors. Even for a great GM like KW, it'll take him, two or three years, while for Beane every action just seems to be another piece in the puzzle. I would love to see what he could do what a respectable payroll.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 10:53 AM) The Bears need to negotiate that down a bit, but its not totally unreasonable. I agree, if this is really the outline of what they want that is very workable. I imagine with a few teams involved they'll get close to this -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) it's pretty even - you could make an argument for either, offensively speaking. Zero walks for Wise, but a higher slugging...kind of a choose your poison at this point. I'll take your word that they were even offensively, I haven't looked at the numbers much, but if they are, then it should be BAs job because he is insanely better at defense than Wise -
I guess since he recentally passed it's worth saying that Red Kerr was an awesome guy

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) Concise and quite accurate. Defalco is harmless and forgettable while the other two are just offensive. Also, Mike Hampton might be the dumbest man on the Chicago airwaves which is saying a lot. Talk about completely clueless. Can't say I listen to a lot of Sports radio but if I were to tune in I'd probably go: Mike & Mike (assuming Kuselias isn't filling in and they're actually talking sports), Waddle and Silvy, sit in silence until 2 o'clock, Boers and Bernstein (easily the best show of the 2 stations). I'm not being a dick, but the washed up pitcher doesn't broadcast for a chicago outlet... yet... I assume you mean Dan Hampton? I agree, he is so annoying, EVERYTHING relates to football with him. I do like Holmes a lot, I think he has developed into an excellent broadcaster

It's close, but I think Dan Patrick at night makes me listen to 670 more. I basically station hop to see who has a better topic, except 12-2, the Score NEVER goes on a radio I'm listening to during that time. I really like Tirico and Van Pelt, so I will listen to their whole show often on my Sirius feed, same thing with Brian Kenney (sp?) show at night

what's the Reds conrner OF situation? That's a hitters park

my fantasy league has a ridiculously deep bench and I picked him up as a flyer

He'll get picked up by someone, he'll be cheap. He can probably go now or wait around and see if there's any injuries

Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter

KW left a gaping hole in CF. I would rather see BA because neither will give much at the plate and he is a far superior CF -
QUOTE (rangercal @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) as bad as a rep he received from the media, Frank Thomas was always great with the fans from my experiences. I agree, when he lived in Oak Brook he would go to the mall all the time. I worked at one of the theaters there and he was awesome when he came in there and I heard nothing but good stories about other experiences.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) It would depend on the situation to me. If guys are ignoring fans during a game, I have no problem with that. The biggest jagbag I ever saw was Phil Mickleson. I was at St. Andrews in 2000 and attended a practice round. These guys hit 5 or 6 or more balls from the tee. Everyone in Mickleson's group was very friendly. Signing golfballs and programs for a lot of kids, not Phil. He was too busy concentrating. Of course, he f***ed around with the guys at the tee box, hitting goofy shots, borrowing a club and hitting right handed (he wasn't bad), not taking his practice very seriously. I always have pulled for him to lose after that, even though I haven't asked for an autograph since Claudell Washington. I hate that fat f***. To me he's like Derek Jeter, no doubt an excellent player, but a little over hyped. He's racked up a ton of tournament wins, but IMO at their peaks there were always better players, such as Vijay, Ernie, etc. I'm so happy Tiger is back. The Hawk is also tremendously nice, even more so with kids. Basically that's all I care about. A player can be the biggest dick in the world to an adult, but atleast be cordial to kids

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) yeah i know that some guys have bad days or whatever. just a small sample size from the 2 games I went too. I'd say worst would be those guys who blow past fans screaming their names without even acknowledging their prescence. not a wave, smile or anything. for most guys on your worst list, it's out the window if it's a hot chick! Yeah, guys can be hit or miss. I heard after a session with Herm most players can be a tad bit edgy.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) I have a similar issue as above. I am a runner (20-25 miles per week) and also cannot keep weight on. I'm currently 6'1" 160 pounds. My goal is to add 10-15 pounds of muscle. I lift 3 days a week, run the other 4 and have been doing so for about a month now with minimal results. Any ideas as to ways... other than the almighty and all expensive protein which I currently drink after every workout... to add muscle? Does anyone have any ideas as to websites that might be able to give me a better plan? And for the record, a trainer is right out. I use the gym at my apartment complex and am definitely not willing to pay the money for a trainer. Thanks. burning that many calories a week means it's going to be very hard for you to add 10-15 lbs. Not impossible, just very difficult (as you are obviously finding out). I've posted this before in this thread, but you need to sleep. You can't do all this, sleep less than 6 hours a night and expect to get results, you have to find time to sleep. Try eating almonds, they're a great source of fat and calories. Maybe cool out on the running for awhile while you add muscle mass.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 10:29 AM) Did we lose to Detroit in the 10th inning? If so, I was freezing my yarbels off at that one as well. was this '06 after the WS? I think that game was on ESPN on Sunday Night and was delayed

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) Although we are about one week away from Opening Day on the South Side, weather predictions show a 60% of rain. On various weather websites say that it will be light rain but I do have one concern. Can Opening Day get rained out? God I hope not because I paid top dollar for tickets to that game. Yeah, it can get rained out. They try and make it as safe as possible for the players. This is why they usually schedule many off days early in the season.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Yes, but so were Julio Ramirez and Kenny Williams, or Jimmy Hurst, going back a bit longer. Seems that with the exception of Sosa and Mike Cameron, we've struggled to produce five tool outfielders...although you could make an argument that Rowand, Ordonez and Lee weren't too bad! Wow, talking about having a ST that fooled most people. I think he ended up getting a ring with the '02 Angels (or whenever they won it) as a sub

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 28, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) Those owners of those teams also agreed that having a WBC was a great thing. And how is the WBC stupid and the MLB is not? The only difference is, you're playing for your country you have roots as opposed as a city. If anything, the WBC is something that should be viewed upon as bigger, but for Americans, it's not. And it's just that way with Americans and no other country in the world. Honestly, it's stupid, but I guess that's another reason why the best players don't play. Why do so when your fans don't really give a damn about a gold medal or about a world competition. Chinese Tapei (sp?) held back most of their better players in an attempt to get them into better professional leagues, that's why their team was so young. Look, as I said in an earlier post I'm a bit of a hypocrit in my WBC bashing because I enjoyed the higher level of baseball in March. However I've been a White Sox fan for 30 years, and everytime someone drapes an American flag around something doesn't mean I have to blindly worship it over everything else.
