QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) What an awful Rohrman commercial. Nothing is worse than that car commercial with the dudes singing. That is uncomfortable to watch it's so bad -

boy what a great inning by the offense, great job to put some pressure on them! -
This is a good move for the Yankees. I know there's a lot of talk about Sheffield and Matsui coming back by the end of the year, but look at how Derrick Lee reacted when he came back from a wrist injury. I don't think the Yankees can really count on those two being factors this year, and if they are, then it's a bonus

Wow, I'm glad I stuck with this game tonight, it was well worth it. They need to build on this win, hopefully JG keeps his great pitching up tomorrow and they take the first 2. You can definitely see what KW has in mind with that bullpen, it was excellent tonight

If someone's watching the game let us know how many times Hawk or DJ say "this is the best we've ever seen Silva" or something like that when we have no runs through 5

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) www.czabe.com The line about Berman at the end of this article is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time, true and funny
-
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) Nothing really new. Offman just reported if we were to acquire Soriano we'd trade him for more pitching help. I just can't think of a contender who would trade major league pitching for Soriano.
-
haven't watched much BBTN lately, but ESPN is really about "company" guys IMO. Maybe he wasn't towing the line like they wanted. Didn't he do the Home Run Derby with Berman? Maybe he complained (No info to back that up, just HATE what Berman has become and get sick whenever he's covering an event, so just using this to bad mouth him!)

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:19 AM) Why is the Soriano to the White Sox headline still #1 on ESPN.com's front page? Its clearly been stated that McCarthy isn't going anywhere. Unless the Nats will take less, like Pods and a couple of prospects this deal isn't happening. it's hard to tell with what everyone is reporting, but listening to ESPN radio this morning it seems that the teams were at least still talking, no McCarthy may ultimately be the deal breaker, but it seems like the teams were still talking.
-
well at least Ozzie isn't leaving Riske in too long! spiff, maybe he knows they have no shot with this offense against that bullpen so he's just saving it for tomorrow
-
It might just be symbolic, or maybe it actually bothered them, but the Twins scored 6 unanswered since they couldn't get Anderson in PK, just go back to the bench
-
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) Trade for Soriano tonight, fly his ass here tomorrow....We need him. they need to do something, they can't keep trotting this team out after the last few series, it's been pathetic. that was a pathetic inning by the Sox offense, they look like a beaten team
-
wow, this is deja vu of 2001-2004 against the Twins, this is sad
-
I'm just tired of them scoring a majority of their runs on HRs lately, it's something like 45% for the season, has to be higher the last few weeks Wow, looks like Sox caught a break, let's shut them down and score 2 gosh darn runs!!! Man, Uribe has a cannon, but every throw home lately has been off
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) I think if we get him, he's being flipped immediately. do you think NL only or only out of the AL central?
-
QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Since the flurry of reporting on this issue about an hour and a half ago, has anyone heard anything else on this rumor? Score? AM1000? ESPN? National Inquirer? lol, thanks for asking, I'm stuck at work with no radio so I'm wondering too. Last I saw on espn.com it has "close to" acquiring I read earlier that Offman said it's not as close as being reported, and didn't hear what Levine or any national reporters have said
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) Is McKay Christensen available to patrol CF? I think he's still on is mission, that thing seemed to last about 4 years
-
QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) I believe that Levine just said that it was Tyler and someone named Cortez for MacDougal? Obviously it's not the end all be all, but what is levine saying about Soriano? Interesting that Offman is saying it's not as close as being reported

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Here's what my buddy who's a royals fan told me about macdougal: "he hit 98 on the gun saturday night, and his slider hit 89. he struck out two of the three batters he faced. when he is on and healthy, he is very very good." yeah he's good when healthy, but that's been a major issue, but Coop has turned people around before. Thorton is a good example
-
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Rauch returns to fill Brandon's spot in the pen... you could be right, Rauch pitched in the 9th with a 6 run lead yesterday after pitching the day before. That seems to me like a scout audition (I know there were Cardinal scouts in the stands)
-
well, Widger seems like a good guy and contributed last year, but A.J. needs some more rest the rest of this season, and Widger was not a viable option IMO
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Sometimes I wonder about our scouting reports. From everyone I've talked to about Young, you want to avoid throwing him 2 strike offspeed pitches. Of course, we threw IRod numbers 2 strike offspeed pitches, and he really hurt us. I agree. Something has been really off with 0-2, 1-2, and 2-2 pitch calling this year. I'm not sure where it's stemming from, but the Sox are getting KILLED on those counts OK, I have a Richard Pryor special on TiVo that's getting fired up now
-
Listen, I love PK, but his ABs in big situations the last few series have been pitiful. His ABs have been like gut punches lately
-
maybe I'm looking at this too critically, but Hawk is saying he doesn't notice a difference being around the team during this funk, but I see a difference in watching the games. Their approach at the plate lately has been like a team 25 games under playing for contracts. (maybe a little infield squibber will be the break they need) I like that Buck is playing this game with the bullpen matchups, he saw the A's lost and wants this win
-
ok, a guy with a 4.95 ERA, but pitches well against left handers, so good to see Pablo still sitting on the bench!!
