I personaly think it will be dark horses for both parties for the next election. There's just no clear cut leaders for either party right now, so I think there will be a Bill Clinton like situation from early 90's, some younger charismatic person who catches the general publics attention and the parties will run with them. It would be suicide to run Kerry again for the Dems IMO. There were polls during the last election saying something like 55% of the country thought a change needed to be made, but Kerry was only pulling 40% support. For whatever reason he didn't connect with the swing voters like myself. I'm fairly moderate, and I will vote for who I think is the best candidate, and I just didn't cling to Kerry at all, hard to explain, but he just didn't convince me he would be a good president at all. I know that last line will likely get a slew of Bush questions/jokes tossed my way, but that's just how I feel!!

OK, I guess I get to be the first note on this thread! This doesn't need its own thread, but another unitentional comedy tidbit from the Cubs. All we've heard in response to the Prior injury rumors is that he's fine and he'll be pitching off the mound this week. Well, now the Cubs are pimping the fact that he pitched off the mound today... which is true, except if you look a little further into he only threw 20 "pitches" and it was only at 50%, which IMO is just being technical by saying it was off a mound. Of course I had to break the real news to 2 of my Cub fan friends who just heard/read he threw off the mound today, so the Cubs are getting the spin they want out of this.

Topher Gracie is going to be playing Venom. I'm not 100% sure if in 3 he'll be full blown Venom or they'll lay the groundwork for the story for a future movie. Listen, I love That 70's Show, but Topher Gracie does not spring Venom into my mind, i'm worried it will be a lot of CGI to enhance the costume, I would prefer them getting a bigger actor and have it more natural looking. I was also hoping they would go with the Venom storyline where Peter Parker finds the Venom suit in space, but I think that was a cross over series and would of been hard to pull of regarding rights etc...

Do you know if the non-compete is enforceable? It has to be reasonable in time, location and a unique skill/knowledge of trade secret/industry standard, etc...

This doesn't deserve its own thread, so I'll throw it here. I love how the Times had an article saying how the Cubs are intrigued by Wood's rehab and they expect him to make 30 starts. Then today they are saying he wasn't and won't immediately be throwing off a mound.... sigh, seems like another few weeks of those stories about Wood throwing a towel, and then the exciting "SIMULATED GAMES"!!!!

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Angels Sign Weaver to 1-Year, $8.5-Million Contract http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb...-home-headlines Does anyone know if Boras is still his agent? If so this is the first time in awhile that Boras didn't get a ridiculous contract for a player.

OK, this might just be a tangent that is coming out of nowhere on this thread, but I have a REAL hard time with anyone involved in the Clinton administration talking about human rights, protecting citizens, etc. because of the whole administrations handling of the Rawanda genocide. Now I know it is specifically and technically the U.N.'s fault, but the administration really dragged their feet and refused to agree to a lot of what the U.N. General wanted to do before it happened. Things like making their spokespeople say "genocide acts" and not "genocide". IMO the administration has gotten a free pass in this situation and it sickens me when they wank around acting like they're the greatest defender of freedom and human rights rant over

I like these all day festival things. You have to go in with a different mindset then going to see a typical concert event. I know i was dissapointed I couldn't make it last year, and I expect a better line-up this year. I think a lot of bands were hesitant to play (as many news reports said a lot of bands turned it down and it took a ton of $$ to get the Pixies to finally play) but now that they see it went well hopefully it will draw more bands. If you ever look at some of the line-ups the European music festivals get I am hopeful that this fest can begin to match up with those. I like that some of the smaller bands get a lot of press, like The Brianjonestown Massacre last year, IMO that's a great band and due to Anton being nuts they have never really been exposed to a larger audience, and fests like this give them an opportunity.

The U.S. Woman's Curling team gets destroyed bythe Canadians... but Cassie Johnson, the U.S. Captain is easy on the eyes. -
I haven't reviewed the Sox roster lately, but I think if Borchard has a good ST he'll get Timo's role from last year.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) As for the ceremony, it was akward and lame, just like every other sports champions ceremony at the White House, regardless of who the team and who the president is. i hope people realize this part. Yes, this ceremony was short and contrived, but they ALL are. The Sox did not get a shaft or anything, this was the typical pace/style to this event. There were some highlights though, the crack about Ed Farmer was classic and Bush saying he thought PK was going to give him a loan was funny.

this is a great article, but I do agree with Nuke, some liberals will start crying about a response to it.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) the good services have it listed at 11:05... i know comcast digital does. Yeah, TiVo does too, which is what I have, I have just heard of others having problems like getting cut off.

LOL, this is classic. Easily the best part is the "knothole." This was a huge thing they put forth with the plans, how this was unique and bring the community together, now it just doesn't do what they said.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) Usually it's on at 11pm, right? That's the trick, it starts at 11:05 or 11:06 and some services list it at 11:00

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) The slick video presentation just might get him. especially if it has a 20 million dollar check attached to it -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) +1 mine has worked perfectly for years now. me too. I absolutely love mine. I would suggest to anyone getting one to grab one of those protector cases, IMO they're a must.

this would be great if ths works and looks sort of natural. I know it will likely be abused by vein people, but it would be a miracle for people who were scarred in car accidents or by fires.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) they have been ripping tons of people off with those things. a lot of battery problems, ect. I know Apple settled a class action suit over the battery last year. Some of the batteries over a certain span were crappy and would wear out a lot quicker than they were suppose to. People got money for a new battery, but I think the opportunity to register for that is over.

TV TYPES HIT THE MERRY-GO-'ROUND

not sure how much of this is 100% in stone, i think Michaels needs to still get out of his ABC/ESPN contract, but listening to radio shows at the super bowl this week, these are definitely the scenariors being laid out. I love the line about Andrea Kramer and her eyes, she does have creepy eyes -
I highly suggest that people pick up one of the Best of Buddy Holly discs that are out there. It is really great music and clever songwriting.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) If he were to accept the 50 million dollar contract Comedy Central offered, I believe he would be obligated to create four or five more seasons. There must be an underlying reason why he wouldn't accept this. He can't possibly enjoy stand-up comedy enough to pass on 50 mil. Perhaps Chapelle stood back and realized there was no way he could top the first two seasons. All his 'A' material had already been used, and the thought of creating another several seasons was too much. I'm not 100% sure about this, so does anyone know the real story with him and his writing partner? I've heard a few different stories, but what I kind of gathered was his writing partner (he's on the "Who knows black people" type skit) made a significant contribution to the show (maybe not quite 50/50, but pretty high) and they had a falling out and Chapelle kind of realized it would be hard to match the first 2 seasons without him. This could just be from the crazy rumor mill that resulted after he walked out, not sure.
