  1. wow, I really can't believe what I'm seeing now. BA's slip just summed up the last 3 weeks for this team. Unreal, it's getting comical now
  2. This game is really summing up the difference between this year and last year. Last year Uribe (or someone in a similar situation) is asked to bunt, and it's done. That IMO changes the inning and game completely. It puts a lot more pressure on Wasdin. Instead he's just handed 1st and 2nd with 1 out instead of 2nd and 3rd with one out.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Wasdin's best changeup, I'm sure he meant. Yeah, that's what I picked up too. Unfortunately it seems like the Sox make a lot of mediocre to bad pitchers look like they have their best stuff of their career
  4. Shoot, Hawk and DJ are giving props to the fans this year, that's great to hear. This attendance turnaround has been better than I could have ever imagined. To me it seems like the Sox hitters (specifically Pods and PK) are a step behind the scouting reports. These pitchers lately have been attacking them perfectly
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Kudos to Buck for the unconventional move of pulling Wasdin in the 4th. His bull-pen has been solid for him lately, I agree, he made an excellent move
  6. Glad to see Paulie trying to hit that bases empty 3 run home run that entire at bat. Wow, oh wow, this team is just giving me that second half '04 feeling
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) If this team doesn't get their heads out of their backsides, they are toast. Yeah, they seem to be sleepwalking through a lot of these games. I don't know what can shake the team up at this point though. I thought the Red Sox series would do it, then I thought the Yankees series would do it, then I thought coming home would shake it up, but they're still playing poorly. They are getting scoring opportunities and pissing them away. The fans have been strong tonight at the game, hopefully they'll see them snap out of it tonight
  8. wow, wow, wow, that's all I can say. The wheels are starting to fall off now. that was a horrible decision by Cora. Iguchi may struggle, but he is a clutch hitter, woudl have liked to seen him up with bases loaded. Sox are just giving games away
  9. man, I know Uribe has had trouble bunting, but these guys have to have quality at bats. The approach of Uribe is why 45% of the runs have been scored via the homerun. They have a shot to get back in this game and it's slowly going away like the last 2 weeks. Ouch, that BA strike-out hurts. (sorry about setting off the filter, not doing it to stick it to anyone, just mindlessly typing and letting stuff slip) Well, the Rangers bullpen has been solid, Ozzie should have these guys bunt until they get it right, not let them try and hit in those situations
  10. spiff, the second that slam was hit against the Tigers I had the same feeling that I had when Hunter knocked down Burke. It seemed to suck the life out of the team and it never came back. Hopefully they can pull one out tonight and pump life back into this season
  11. would love to see PK try and go to right here, he has been trying to yank everything lately
  12. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) I was really pissed when they didn't announce that they were retiring his number. It would of been such a perfect time. In fact im still pissed, what the hell is he thinking about handing out this award that is nothing compared to his number being retired and remebered forever. Am i the only one that feels this way? IMO I think they did it during the game to ease some of the pressure to retire the number league-wide. There was a major push, including I believe a 100,000 signature petition to get it retired, and I don't think MLB wants to do it, so they performed this cermemony (Note: This is NOT my opinion about retiring the number, this is just my opinion on why it was handled in the manner it was)
  13. I know it's Boras' job to hype his client, but comparing him to mid 90's Maddux is insane, Maddux was incredible during that time period. He'll sign for a ton of $$$, he's left handed, Boras is his agent and a lot of the big teams have no pitching. I imagine the Cardinals, NY Yankees, NY Mets, Red Sox, Cubs, Rangers will offer big money for him.
  14. ROH is really worth seeing. It's not quite ECW in the heyday, but it is a real quality night of wrestling. The last 2 times in Chicago Ridge they brought in Japanese wrestlers (1st time was wrestlers from Dragon's Gate and they had a 5 Star match, and then Ketna (sp?) from NOAH was here last month) and those were fantastic matches. Samoa Joe is great to see, his workrate is a little down in ROH now since he's important to TNA, but he still puts on a hell of a show. The wrestlers put on excellent matches and the atmosphere is great. Brian Danielson's enterance to "Final Countdown" is classic and watching Jimmy Rave and Alex Shelley react to the toilet paper is worth the price of admission alone!
  15. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) Vacation should be in quotes. I dont think there's any way he'd be allowed to take time off during a period that includes the NBA Draft, World Cup and crosstown series. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think there's something more going on than him being on vacation. I agree. I think him going on the Score and saying the Sun Times has basically been censoring him got to be too much. Hopefully the Times realizes he's not helping them sell any papers, all he is doing is embarassing them and they let him go.
  16. Wow, Prior is not ready for the majors at this point. I have no idea if he's still injured or going through a spring training build up now. But low 90's straight fastball and erractic control of the curveball won't get it done.
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 20, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) It's good to see the national media is not siding with the Cubs, just because they're the Cubs. I can't wait to see BBTN's POV on this also. Brantley on ESPN basically said people may not want to hear it, but A.J. didn't do anything wrong in this, it was all on Barrett. Personally, if I was Barrett (sp?) I would be embarassed that I took a free, sucker punch, at someone and I couldn't even knock them off their feet or stun them... I would say likely nothing will happen tomorrow, but with Zambrano on the mound, it will be interesting, that guy is nuts, and if he starts to lose his control and give up a few runs I could imagine him pelting someone.
  18. FWIW, I heard about 6:20 on ESPN Radio that it's really unclear whether Count is going on the DL, at first it was reported hip problems, then the back and the MRI, with no results.
  19. Dye has always had a very good fielding reputation, the only negative I can think of is his range is slightly down from when he was younger due to age and some leg injuries, but he is a very good defender
  20. yeah, she cleans up well, but looks aside, this girl cracks me up. She has such a positive great attitude about things. I saw her on Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel and she really has a great personality, which is natural, not a trained movie star we see so often. She always makes me laugh.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) Dude, they're still saying that he'll be ready in a couple weeks. They leak in stages. The worse the news is, the longer it'll take for it to come out. good pickup, this is one of the ways the Cubs spin their injuries. he'll be ready to do what in a couple of weeks? That is the key question. The optomistic Cub fans will think he'll be ready to pitch in a couple of weeks, but i think they mean he'll be ready in a couple of weeks to resume working out... i was working all day and jumped online to chicagosports.com, saw this headline and just snickered. I'm not one to enjoy other people getting injured, but this is becoming a huge joke with this guy. It's not affecting his pitching??? I don't believe that, does his leg magically hover when he drives off it? Imagine if they ever game out with Simulated MLB for X-Box, Wood would have to get the cover.
  22. eh, these games are so early it doesn't matter too much. Remember also, these guys are going from playing in the World Series, which was likely the most intense games of their life to early ST games, there is bound to be some what of a mental letdown for awhile. As long as the pitchers are healthy and throw strikes, i'm not going to worry.
  23. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) I've checked out the show a few times myself since i still have one of my car radio buttons set to CKG. it's not the best but to totally slam it's ratings after only a month isn't quite right. If you think about it....he got almost no publicity coming into this market, and he's replacing Stern..which is hard to do anywhere. if his numbers still blow in a year then maybe CKG should do something. I'm not sticking up for the guy per se...i think his show sucks too but just something to think about. he got a decent amount of publicity, i saw a few billboards, and a lot of bus advertisments. Not to mention all the commercials on WCKG during the well rated Steve Dahl show. Thanks, I thought about it and even though it's a month, those are still bad ratings
  24. http://www.suntimes.com/output/feder/cst-fin-feder28.html Ouch, those ratings are so ridiculously low. Feder is right, NOBODY is listening to this clown. I'm so glad this is happening though, I gave him a chance and it was so horrible. There's no way WCKG can even attempt to spin these numbers, they suck in every category. But I love that Jonny B. Is kicking ass. He has always been a favorite of mine and glad when he came back and glad to see he's kicking ass... now we need to get Buzz back so they can reopen Buzz's Porno Emporeum
  25. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) I looked it up and: Bush, Texas Gov Clinton Ark Gov Regan Caly Gov Carter Georgia Gov So 4 out of the last 5 Presidents have been Gov. I think that while they are out of the main washington frey they still have leadership qualities as they have led the respective states. So in other words they have leadership experience without Washington casting a dark cloud. Interesting point. I think it could be interesting to see if Obama runs for Govenor in the next election after this one. I know there was talk about Dems possibly wanting to groom him for a presidential run at some point, so I wonder if they'll ask him to go the route that is becoming the path to the presidency.
