  1. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) Timo get him over. Nice job. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BUT HIS OBP JUST WENT DOWN!!!!
  2. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Ants could kick our ass. In all seriousness though I think santo=dorf is missing the point as Juggs isn't saying God made us or the bible is fact. But it's probably hard for many to even consider the idea of 'intelligent design' when they see on CNN a pastor who I guess is supposed to represent those who believe in intelligent design say that the earth is only 10000 years old. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's hard to understand Juggs because I know how religious he is. I have watched specials on this debate, and to me it seems EVERY person in favor of it believes in the bible and tends to slip "God" into the conversation of teaching ID. I have never seen a supporter of ID being a cult member who believes Space Aliens created the Earth (yes there are people out there who believe that.) If this was the first post I saw from juggernaut, I wouldn't have mentioned anything about the bible. I know where he is coming from.
  3. Should history teachers start teaching about how the Holocaust didn't happen because a certain % of people believe it didn't take place? Answer that one for me juggs.
  4. QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) Since when is the scientific equivalent of "Nuh-uh!" a theory? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When the creationists can't use the bible to back up their claims.
  5. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) So that is essentially what this debate is about. Should the misguided, improbable, & unsubstantiated claim that mutation arising from natural selection is the primary influence in man's evolution continue to be taught in our public schools or should it be downgraded to a secondary influence & the primary influence remain unknown? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, because it is based on the scientific model, not the bible. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Treating natural selection as a secondary influence opens the door to enlightening the students to what we know about other influences & how they affected our evolution. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sounds fine and dandy, but I don't want my tax dollars paying for non-science to be taught is school. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) 64% of Americans believe ID should be taught in the classrooms. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who cares what % of americans think it should be taught in school? It's not a science. I'm willing to bet the percentage was much higher below the bible belt than in New York, LA or Chicago. Juggs, if 80% of a town thinks that children should be taught that 2+2=5, does that mean math teachers should change their teaching methods? Science is not a democracy.
  6. "Popeyes got what you call 'Mama Slap' Chicken."
  7. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) 1st and 2nd halfs of 2005 eerily similar to 2000. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's ridiculous. Who is left from the 2000 team? Frank, Mark, Garland, and Konerko. That team was built on offense with a crappy pitching staff, this team is built on a great pitching staff with a mediocre offense. Hell, the only coach from the 2000 staff is the bullpen coach. The dimensions of the ballpark have changed as well. The 2000 White Sox have NOTHING to do with the 2005 White Sox. :rolly
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Care to explain this for us youngsters? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dybas was the Laz Diaz leg humper. He is a Cubs fan who went ot the cubs game earlier in the day, got tanked, and then decided with his friends to go back up to Chicago to see the Sox. I'm pretty sure he lives in Joliet now, and a few months ago he got his ass kicked for stopping an attempted burglary.
  9. ...well, at least he's going after hitters. That's his 3rd start in a row without giving up a walk.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) GREAT JOB JOSE! That should be it...put this game in the hands of Cotts/Politte/Dustin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you seen his pitch count?
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) It has nothing to do with the play of late. School is back in session. = 0 families & limitted College age Kids. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Plus it's a Thursday.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) You can't just look at AVG and OBP alone. Slugging HAS to be in there, too... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So when you were always talking about Bellhorn's OBP, why didn't you mention his .360 SLG? (less than Uribe's)
  13. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) I'm baffled at this poll. 298 batting average or not, Player B would have never made it to my team. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not a fan of Ivan Rodriguez?
  14. I thought Sanders was sold to Japan.....
  15. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) How can you possibly say we got the better of that deal? Koch screwed up our bullpen for two seasons and now he's out of baseball. Foulke saved game 4 of the world series last year. In the long run, we still got one of the worst trades in Sox history. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Foulke's performance last season has nothing to do with that trade. He was a free agent after the 2003 season.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) I don't think nips are allowed on Soxtalk. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh s*** dude, I missed that.
  17. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) by the way, that Griffeytalk banner is f***ing brilliant <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With the exception that it should be "formerly," not "formally."
  18. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) After Buehrle and Rowand who else has been developed? No one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Carlos Lee, Magglio, Mike Cameron, Kip Wells, Ray Durham, and Chad Bradford.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) A lead off hitter who's higher than 83rd in baseball in runs scored? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let's just ignore the fact that he has been hurt and doesn't have much support around him. :rolly Don't you think Podsednik would score more runs if he was in Boston's lineup?
  20. Just curious, does anyone know who player B is. I remember having a conversation with qwerty earlier in the offseason about a player have virtually no difference between their OBP and BA. I wonder what the smallest difference is for a .300 hitter who plays the entire season.
  21. QUOTE(Chi Town Sox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) If anyone can post some pictures of Ron Karkovice it would be greatly appreciated, a friend of mine is starting a Ron Karkovice Fan Day as a joke and putting it on a t-shirt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is he going to have it on 10-31? That would be the most appropriate date to celebrate "Ron Karkovice Day."
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) I need SLG <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Player A: .360 Player B: .474 BUt they aren't built the same, and SLG% tends to favor the guy who doesn't walk. A single counts towards slugging whereas a walk doesn't. Based on OPS, player B is a no-brainer.
  23. Which player would you take from just an offensive viewpoint? I just couldn't help but notice how people were talking about Bellhorn's OBP despite his terrible BA.
