Expect Mets to seriously pursue Iguchi
Pelfrey's value is a lot less now than it was tihs off-season so you could get him, but not for Iguchi alone. Iguchi and Contreras could be enough to get one of Pelfrey/Milledge.

More Sox Rumors
QUOTE(Vance Law @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) ESPN rumour mill Cutting their losses Jul 23 - The Red Sox have had talks with the White Sox about a deal that would send fourth outfielder Wily Mo Pena to Chicago, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. But before they trade Pena, Boston would like to acquire Pena's replacement. Oakland's Bobby Kielty has been mentioned as a possibility. I would be all about a deal that would bring Pena to Chicago, especially if we are giving up a minor leaguer to get him. Pena has the ability and everyday play could be all it takes to give the Sox a young, talented outfielder (the only scary thing is he is closer to FA than you would want).

Yankees looking at Garland, Thornton?
If we could get a package that includes Hughes or Joba Chamberlain than I think you have to make that deal. As far as Thornton goes, I'd try to deal him and see if you could get Ian Kennedy for him.

Garland off the market, Vazquez available
QUOTE(Shadows @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) I don't know where you got that info, but thats not what was said down here Pence was the deal break. Williams insisted he would be a part of any package.

Standing pat would be the worse thing that this org could do.

NBA Ref Fixes Games for the Mob
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) This is about the least surprising news of the year, anybody who watched NBA games over the years and didn't think some of them were fixed is watching with 2 eyes closed. Well I think people could make a case that the NBA was potentially doing that (to get ratings) but I didn't think the mob was in on it.

Nick Masset to AAA
I ripped Haeger a lot but I'm a fan of him now. I still don't know if I like him out of the pen (simply because if he enters a game with runners on he's more prone to the wild pitch and far easier to steal off of) but I love the fact that he can pitch a lot of games and really give the club innings if necessary plus he gives them a completely different look out of the pen. Oh and he's gotten outs which is more than I could say about the rest of the squad.

Lunch with Ned Colletti and Grady Little
He still has Penny and Lowe and both are pretty damn good so I don't think he needs to get desperate. I think If I were him I'd solely look for top flight players I could get (garland would fit that bill) or guys I could get without giving up much at all.

Cubs dump one SS on Pirates, Pirates next to take a Dump?
Buster Olney was on and said this move makes no sense to the Pirates and some people are speculating that the Pirates already have a deal done or at least very close with Wilson going elsewhere. Olney did say almost no teams are looking for shortstops so that could help the Sox as they may be the only one (I'm not saying acquire Wilson, but I"m saying if they want to go for a shortstop they may have leverage on there side as the only buyer).

NBA Ref Fixes Games for the Mob
This is very insane and if it gets any wider could certainly effect the integrity of the game.

7/19 Games
Come August 1st I want to see Sweeney/Richar/Owens playing almost every day (plus Floyd in the rotation for the remainder of the season) and Adam Russell in the Sox pen.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) The fuse has been lit since the break. 4-4 thus far. They should be about 7-1 though. But I could say that about a lot of games this season. This team just plays bad baseball, because they have had so many games that they pretty much threw away (with stupid base-running, a horrid pen, and terrible defense). All that is without even factoring in what was an anemic offense.

Props to Paulie on breaking out
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) He reminds me of post 2004 Juan Pierre with lesser base stealing abilities. Shoot...I'd be all for getting Juan Pierre. I take guys that can hit singles and steal bases, especially because you could likely get him on the cheap (in terms of talent) and get the Dodgers to throw some cash the Sox way. This club does need speed and Pierre would be a very solid pickup. In fact, I wouldn't be horrified if they acquired a talented young outfielder (think a Matt Kemp type) picked up a Pierre for left and signed an Aaron Rowand for CF. It wouldn't be amazing, but if you had Thome/Konerko you still have a lot of power there and you now have a leadoff hitter in Pierre (although I would like to see a guy who could post an OBP over .330 (he's really low this season) and a 2 hole hitter in Aaron plus a young outfielder who could develop into a middle of the order threat hopefully (with Sweeney also getting playing time).

Ervin Santana optioned to AAA
If the Sox opted to trade two pitchers, than I'd definitely be a fan of picking up Santana and letting him work through this (and my fascination with him has to do with his plus stuff, I could give a s*** what his name is). But the Angels aren't going to just give him up, they got full control of him for a couple more years.

White Sox vs. Red Sox, 7/19/07 (W)
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) ... and to think some of us here thought Lugo would be a good pick up. I would love to get Lugo. Do Contreras for Lugo and Willy Mo (with the BoSox picking up a very good chunk of Lugo's contract).

BoSox Interested in Jermaine Dye
I never expected the BoSox to be tied to Die, but I would definitely consider a deal involving Willy Mo Pena and a prospect. If they could get Ellsbury, perfect, although I'd do a Willy Mo and Craig Hansens for Dye deal (Hansen has tanked this year but he has talent and Willy Mo would at least help the club the next few years). And I really don't understand why the Sox have to make Dye happy (unless they are doing it out of respect or plan on dealing him and than trying to go after him over the off-season).
