  1. Grudz extended his hitting streak with a single after Dejesus was retired. Royals are playing thin since they made quite a few trades today and the guys they got from the Rockies have not arrived.
  2. Crede breaks his bat and hits into an inning ending double play. However, the Sox did scratch up 3 runs thanks to two walks, a balk, an infield single, a bloop single to CF, and a broken bat single. You gotta like that, they found a way. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) save some runs later in game for burhle's start... Whats it matter, we give them early or late, he's still going to give em back up
  3. Gload is such a good pure hitter. He goes with the pitch and the SS makes a great play but can't throw him out (SS did possibly save a run, doubt it considering it was PK running) and he gets an RBI single. Runners on the corners for CRede

QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) Damnit... we need him around these days. I think it will do the team some good. We get a slap hitter up at the 3rd spot in AJ and another one in Gload (plus Gload gives us a bit more speed). I'm not saying good for the long haul, but I think with Thome out Ozzie will not sit on his hands and wait for HR's so we may see him get a little more agressive and that could really help us get jump started before we get Thome back. Well the Royals announcers are now saying that Thome is at the ball park, so he's back from Chicago. They said its unclear whether he'll play tomorrow so it doesn't sound too serious.
  5. Dye doesn't execute and strands them. Popped it up to 2nd base so now its up to Gload with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
  6. That ball was a lot closer to being a strike than the first one.
  7. Dye will get another chance, but that was a horrible ass strike 3 call there. Runners on 2nd and 3rd and its 2-0 with Dye in an 0-2 count.
  8. What the gosh darn was that. There is no way thats a strike. Luckily they called a balk so maybe the strikeout is being taken away.
  9. Ball 4 base hit by Paulie and they are loaded for Dye

He hurt his right wrist and was sent to CHicago for treatment. However, the Royals reporters said that he is expected back in Kansas City later tonight and that he'll likely miss at least another game.
  11. Wow, AJ breaks his bat and a grounder goes up the middle and is an RBI single. Runners on the corners for PK
  12. A balk gets the runners to 2nd and 3rd for AJ
  13. Nice start...a walk and a little bloop single to CF.
  14. Lets just win series
  15. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) I don't consider being so locked into these players such a good thing. Our best players are a 36 year old slugger, a "34 year old" Cuban pitcher, and a 32 year old outfielder having by far his best career season. Good luck trying to duplicate that next year. As far as the pitchers, I see Buehrle having the best shot of improving. Hopefully Garland can pitch more like he has in the second half. But after that? Vazquez has sucked for quite some time, at some point he's not underachieving anymore. Garcia sucks because he has no fastball, and how many players lose their stuff at 30, and regain it at 31? Right now I see us as the 4th or 5th best team in the AL, and very lucky that our offense has produced up to this level. Upgrading this roster in the off-season is a must, imo. Our pitchres are all pitching well below career standards. That may continue for this season, but given an off-season the odds of them pitching closer to there career norms are far greater than the odds of them repeating what they did this year. It would be absolutely stupid to trade what we had when it wouldn't have made the team better and we wouldn't have gotten value for them. I don't care if other teams wouldn't give what we want, if they don't than we don't make the trade. We weren't forced to make a trade. If Oswalt or Schmidt were legitimately out there than yes, I think we should have made a run at them, but odds are we didn't have what the opponents wanted.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) Jason, the message is still up. Ya, I still have more stuff to do so it will probably take a day or two till I make the main part of the site live for anyone that goes to FutureSox. But now that I just backed things up I'll probably make it live again.

  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) He would have never approved of a trade to the AL. I don't see how someone can say Hernandez and Perez were had for nothing, as Nady is a pretty solid corner outfielder. He's had a lot of value for a few seasons now. And a lot of people grossly under-rate Cesar Itzuris as far as I'm concerned. This is the type of guy the more you watch him, the more you like him.
  19. Download the Show The Guys from Soxtalk on the Air return after a few weeks hiatus. Boy how things have changed, 4 weeks ago, the Sox were still the best team in baseball (even if the Tigers had the best record) but now the Sox aren't even a playoff team. Mario and Jason discuss the Sox recent troubles, whether/should Kenny make a move, and much much more. Download the Show Streaming Version of the Show How to Subscribe
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) I can't believe the Angels didn't get him to begin with. He was a nice fit for their team, and they have plenty of prospects to deal. If they wanted Santana I wouldn't have made a deal. I'd prefer taking my luck with good starting pitching and a mediocre offense than doing things the other way around.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) I don't think he would clear NL waivers. I don't think there's a chance in hell of it actually. I'm an idiot, I was thinking he was in the AL (don't ask me why).
  22. I haven't seen this deal as being reported as official quite yet.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Wow, looks like everyone called Bowden's bluff. Either that, or they are very confident they can sign him. I wouldn't be shocked if talks continue for Soriano as he may pass through waivers to the point that a team thats interested in him can claim him and have some exclusive talks with the Nats. That would probably be a team like the Angels (since they are the AL contenders with the worse records who'd probably be willing to try and work something)
  24. Chisoxfn replied to Xero's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wouldn't be shocked if we picked up a reliever and moved Bmac to AAA or immediately into the rotation with one of our starters getting a rest (whether its Freddy or Buehlre). However, unless we were getting Schdmit or Oswalt none of these deals really made sense because we would only go as far as our pitching staff.
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) If he's the best hitter on the team, and the best defensive first baseman, why was acquiring Jim Thome one of the reasons Paulie gave for re-signing? If Gload's a better hitter, wouldn't playing him regularly have sufficed? Quite simply, he's not Thome or Konerko. I've long said if I were a team I'd acquire Gload and let him play first. I think he's a .300 hitter who will play solid defense but he won't hit a ton of HR's and not many teams are willing to part with power when it comes to 1st base.
