QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) Could someone just give me the latest? I have been gone since 4:30, so if someone could just tell me what the news is now I would appreciate it? 42 pages is just too much. Latest is that Kenny has said he won't trade any of his starters and that includes Brandon. Talks have cooled and its believed that the Sosx are interested in Soriano, but only want to give up prospects. One persons source (Fathoms) mentioned that the deal may have broke down because of contract talks involving a no trade clause (Sox not wanting to give it). There has also been other talk the Kenny would get Soriano and than spin him off (of course if we were in fact negotiating a contract, that would dispell those talks).

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) I've been away most of the day, so will someone fill me in: is there some major trade rumor about Mac? Earlier today it was reported taht Mac was on his way to the Nats for Soriano but that rumor has cooled down a bit. Kurkijian originally reported it and since than Kenny has said he will not be dealing any of his major league starters and that he has told Brandon that he won't be going anywhere. However, the Sox are quite interested in Soriano.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) Hi, where is JD? Day off.
-
Gload tied up and pops it up.
-
AJ gets in to 3rd after Crede had a nice AB. Crede is working RF a bit more as well (letting the ball get deep into the count). I'm real confident having Gload up right here.
-
Paulie uses that RF swing and clobbers it to Right center making it 1-0. That day off sure worked. I saw his first AB he was working right field as best as he could as well (he was waiting on the ball).

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) That's such a beautiful 2 seamer, he just doesn't utilize it properly. He's doing a much better job today throwing his FB all over the zone and his changeup is looking good. He just needs to really work on consistency with his breaking balls as he has a tendency to get too quick which leads to him rolling breaking balls. For the trivia question I'm going with Carew and Puckett. One pitch, one out.

Threw another down an in that ate Kubel up.

Javy's fastball is looking real sharp and crisp tonight. Of course it was against Detroit as well. He's also throwing it inside and moving the location of it real well.

Morneu crushes a double.

K, 2 down.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) He's the Head Grounds Keeper, his job is to make sure bunts placed perfectly down the thirdbase line stay fair. Gotcha.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) Roger Bossert just screwed up BIG TIME. Who is Roger Bossert, I've seen this name mentioned a few times.
-
Javy makes the necessary pitches. I like the fact he's went to the bigger leg kick, but I think he'll have to mix in his lower one just a bit to ensure that runners don't get insane jumps on him. But I had no problem with him focusing on Punto instead of the runner cause the last thing I wanted was Mauer up.
-
Walk and we have runners on the corners with Punto coming up. The runner got to 3rd on what I'd deem a passed ball.
-
Ump is calling them off the outside corner for both teams.
-
Tyner really hit a nice FB by Vazquez ( good piece of hitting). I've immediately noticed that Vaz is throwing different with a runner on. We'll see if he switches things up from time to time, but he's using a full leg kick with the runner on.
-
Javy is one kind of pitcher with no one on, another with runners on. The key is have Coop and Vaz finally figured out a plan to help correct Javy when runners are on. I really think they are close and at one point tonight we may find out. Now lets get Javy some runs.

Sox get Mike MacDougal for Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes

QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) You can't assume anything when health and Lumsden are in the same sentence. Lumsden has a history of injury problems too. So we gave away a pitcher with nasty stuff, who's a couple years away, for a pitcher with nasty stuff who's ready. What's the big deal? One injury doesn't really mean a history of arm trouble, but I don't think you can assume anything when it comes to prospects but at the same time I can't assume MacDougal will stay healthy when he's had a few different arm problems. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Yeah. He pitched an inning and a third against the Rangers this past Friday. I know he gave up atleast one HR. Yep, that was the only hit he allowed.
-
Who cares, we just need to take care of business. We control our own destiny and it would be huge for us to win this series against the Twins.
-
Broadway, Whisler, Harrell, Russell, McCulloch, Liotta (pitched good on the road, but man did he stink at the Met and was obviously demoted), quite a few decent younger arms down in the lower levels that will take a lot more time and well anything can happen with those guys. Sean Tracey should be mentioned as well. Following the deadline we'll be doing a mid-season top 20 too. We were going to do it before, but figure its best to wait and see who else goes.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Congrats to you on that. I personally like hearing from anyone who has any sort of info they believe to be true. I agree and from talking with many posters on this site I can tell you that there are a good variety of people that have some sort of sources. Obviously just because you have a source doesn't mean you'll know something all the time since sometimes your source may be closely involved with something other times they won't. Either way I think one of the things that sets this site apart from others is that there are a lot of people who have a person in the "know" and I'm glad they are willing to share that sort of info.
