  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) couSTEVEALFORDgh!
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) If your going to make the claim Marcus Camby is going to be remembered 50 years down the line for his defense, then I give up, because that is dumber than some of the stuff even the biggest Tyson Chandler haters have said. I gotta agree. Maybe if Camby would put up a few healthy seasons. Bruce Bowen will barely go down as a legendary defender and its taken a few championships for that to happen. Obviously Big Ben will go down as a legendary defender.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) See, I don't give a s*** about this year. I've always discussed what Chandler can be in the future, which is all that matters. Right now, he is better than he was last year in terms of rebounding, man defense, passing, court vision, etc. He will only continue to get better. And I don't give a s*** about the money, either. Defense is the name of the game. Protecting your rim is what it's all about. When Tyson alters shots and keeps the other team from scoring and getting second-chance opportunities, it's as if he himself scored. Get it? The Bulls don't have to make up the points if he stopped his opponent from scoring. I'm not gonna expect anyone to understand that. Maybe just a tad too deep. And think of all the second-chance opportunites that he provides for the Bulls on the offensive end. Again, maybe it never crosses the average Bulls fan's mind that something like that actually helps the Bulls offense. He has 60 offensive rebounds in the last 12 games. He is also one of the best in the NBA at keeping rebounds alive on the offensive end (tapping them to teammates, etc). His passing has been damn impressive. He sets picks effectively, etc. Funny you should mention it, but I've noticed during his stretch that he's been making terrific passes. I never remembered that part of his game so he's definately growing in that regard. Like I said I'd like to see him keep defenses honest by developing a decent mid range jumper and some sort of hook shot (although that'll never happen). And when he gets the ball around 3 point land and no one is guarding him, I'd like him to dribble in and at least make him defend. Hell with his length anytime no one is on him, dribble in and just go up to the rim. No one is going to block him and odds are he's gonna get fouled.
  4. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) Pargo can play defense unlike Gordon. He provides energy. He is a better ballhandler, and can push it up better than Gordon, and even Captain Kirk for that matter. Skiles needs to play him more. He is a valuable weapon. Hate to break it to you, but Pargo is mini Ben and he definately can't play defense. He also is a worse shooter but a little better passer. Ben is much stronger and is a far better driver. Bens' the better player but with what the Bulls would ask for, Pargo would be a poor man version of Ben off the bench. The problem is Gordon gets boatloads of hype. He's not a bad player, but he'll never be a great all around player.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) Is Tyson Chandler a better overall player than Elton Brand. Will he ever be a better overall player than Elton Brand? He sure as hell should be, since that was the trade. There are 2 options here: 1. You admit the obvious, Brand is and will always be better. 2. You say "Tyson is going to be better in 4 years and a defensive legend like Marcus Camby since he leads the league in rebounding the last 3 weeks". I like Tyson, but come on man, your just being silly. Camby is far from a legend. He's legendary at one thing..getting hurt.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) I just want Chandler to turn into a taller semi version of Ben Wallace. It's already obvious the Clips took it to us in that trade with Brand, and that isn't going to change regardless of what happens from here on out, since Brand can defend (although not at the level of Tyson) AND *gasp* SCORE POINTS!! But yeah, if I knew this would turn into a battle between the Tyson woodies and blind Tyson haters, with nobody allowing a middle ground of common snese, I'd have never started the thread.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Sprint has had horrible customer service. The last 15 months has been a nightmare for me with them. Promised new phone rebates that never arrive, contracts that are renewed without an end date, changing the structure of my plan without telling me.... Anyone but Sprint. Sprint Royally screws over new customers by making them pay ridiculous prices for phones. They are notorious for it.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Speed skating is so interesting to watch. Especially the relays, what looks like a clusterf*** is so organized. I never really watched much snowboarding until recently but damn it's awesome. If you ever have time, try checking out some clips of Terje (he's the best snowboarder ever) and check out the back country runs they do. They are totally insane and the air and creativity they have in these areas is just cool. Plus you can often times see funny old school clips of snowboarders jumping roads and I always get a kick out of the original borders like Burton and how they really had no clue what the hell they were making at the time or even how to ride them. The sport has came a really long way in not that much time. Plus they aren't the renegades of the mountain they once were, they are now the majority. And yes, I hate skiiers on the slopes cause they usually take a different path than borders due and it gets in our way (they tend to go left to right down the mountain while most boarders are more straight up and down the mountain (not as much going across). That said I think its tougher to be really good at skiing the snowboarding (however the tricks on boards are way cooler and for me I think its more enjoyable).
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) Speed skating should be good, womens snowboarding decent. The only thing I'm not a fan of is ice skating. Ya, I can't watch figure skating. Snowboarding I can watch all day long and the speed skating is kind of interesting. That girl from Denmark killed everyone a day or two ago in the 6 or 7 lap race.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) Speed skating should be good, womens snowboarding decent. The only thing I'm not a fan of is ice skating. Unfortunately I could already tell you what happened in Women's snowboarding. Its all I've heard during the sports radio updates (which is all I'm listening to while I'm working on this stupid ass real estate project for school). Oh but just to give you guys a name..Hanah Teter (I'm sure I botched the spelling) is the best female snowboarder in the world. She's done quite a few runs with Shaun White in the past and has an awesome house (In Colorado I think, but I may be wrong). Outside her house she has rails/pipes set up so during the winter she doesn't even have to leave to practice her tricks. And she kicks the crap out of her brothers on all the runs. On a sidenote, I should probably know this, but is Halfpipe the only snowboarding event or is there a freestyle or speed event as well?
  11. Zoom and I have been talking and I got all the names together from those who played last year, so we'll be having a league, but I think were gonna start fresh with a legit commissioner (ie him, cause well I blew at it). I could tell you my keepers, but with maybe 3 or 4 new players and us not knowing who the keepers are on that team, my guess is we are best suited starting fresh and running things right from the beginning (with a set of rules for the keeper league and all that good stuff). I think he'll be PM'ing you, but don't worry, anyone that was in the keeper league last year will have first rights when we restart it this year. Hopefully everyones still up for it. I know we had a pretty competitive league both last year and the year before. You guys got me last year, but I'm gonna be coming back to win it for the 2nd time in 3 years this time around
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) This sentence right here is a great example as to why I Jason's posts Damn, that Aaron is a hotty!
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Why am I subjecting myself to the Clones again this week? At least you've moved past your addiction to crack.
  14. Big game in the big 10 on TV tomorrow. I'm glad to see Aaron Andrews will be in attendance w/Lavin and Munsberger. Spartans @ Iowa and Iowa will be looking to redeem themselves from there worse loss on the season. Should be a great game and if Iowa can hold home court it will help seperate them from the rest of the big 10 and further make it a 2 team race (OSU/Iowa). But with the rest of the big 10 so close behind, I have my doubts, plus MSU plays great against the Hawks. I'm gonna be pulling for em though and I can't wait. UConn-Vill tonight and than my Hawks tomorrow
  15. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) They cover a lot of ground around the country and the reception was pretty good the few times I did use it but we went back to US Cellular because our monthly bill is cheaper there. Plus they cover most of Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa which is about all the farther we travel anyway. I was gonna mention they aren't the cheapest. Cingular and Tmobile are the cheaper national carriers, but in terms of best network its Verizon. US Cellular isn't available in most areas (well at least not out on the West Coast). That said people with US Cellular cell phones would be able to make calls with CA cause they'd make some sort of agreement to use someone elses signal.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Watch them get Hampton'd. Haha...thats what I fear.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) Iowa could go to the elite 8 or lose in the 1st round based on their bracket. Just avoid long armed, athletic teams.....the Iowa white boys can play, but are just not very athletic and not very big other than Hanson. If they play a team with some good bigs and Hanson is in foul trouble they are probably toast. That said Thomas is a pretty good defensive player (off the bench) and his physical style has really given at least a few quality bigs some trouble. I'm thinking they are a sweet 16 team, but anything can happen. Plus we still have a lot of the regular season left. If they go elite 8...well I'll be dancing a jig.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) New bracketology is out http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology . Joe has SIU as a 7. He still has the mvc with 4 and mo state out. Illinois as a 4 in here as well. Cripes..Iowa a 3 now. Now we are in a position where if they are a 3 and they lose they turn into total embarassments.
  19. Verizon is the best cell company in US, but that said it depends on your area.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Oh, and as big a problem as it is that we have ZERO post scorers, it might be an even bigger problem that we have NOBODY besides Tyson who can guard a legit 4 or 5. Find us a good low post player and I wouldn't worry. Not many teams have two legit low post scorers so having one awesome low post defensive player is enough, especially when that one guy can take on most any type of big (well thats the ultimate goal for Chandler..he may not be strong enough for some guys, but he's still one of the best in the biz defensively). This team drastically needs a low post player. I think a lot of people under-estimated when Curry was able to do because teams had to actually worry about him in the block because he could create buckets in the low post. I'm not saying we should have signed him cause I long said that would have been foolish all things considering, but the Bulls need to find a guy like that. Hopefully he'll have a big enough of a body that if we do match up against a Shaq we can stick him on Shaq and just try having Chandler play help D. Note: I'm referring not necessarily to this years squad but next years and the ones down the line.
  21. Excellent. I love the larger rinks they use in Olympic play.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) If you want to evaluate tools, then I agree with you. With his height, athletic ablilty, and wingspan, he could eventually lead the league (or be top 3) in rebounds and blocks every year for several years, and if he does that FOR FULL SEASONS, I'll say he's earning his money. But he can't be a good defender and rebounder, or even great, he has to be THE BEST (or close to it) in the NBA to earn his money, because he is never going to be a great or even good offensive player. That's all I'm saying. And for the record, I hope Tyson does turn into that because he seems like a real nice kid and I don't want to spend the rest of my basketball fan life wanting to kill myself over the Brand trade like I am right now. He's got to turn into a Ben Wallace type player. I think he's capable of that. Although I don't know if he'll ever be able to go against a center like Shaq, but the nice thing is there is only one Shaq. He can play guys like Jermaine O'Neal and I even think Duncan. Still needs more muscle mass, plus more confidence offensively (just enough to keep defenses honset where they can't just lay off him and double team others).
  23. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) And of course, Chisoxfn wouldn't even have to state the obvious if people actually looked into things. Don't run your mouth if you're not even watching these games. That's one of the sure signs of a fool. Late in the game there was an insane play by Chandler. Brand ended up scoring but Brand got the ball in the low block (this is probably will a minute or so left in the game) and Brand is wide-open with Songalia off of him (I think it was Darius, may have been Noc) but Brand turns and just looks to have a wide open shot from a few feet away and out of nowhere Brand swoops in (happened right in front of our seats) and it was just awesome d. Brand ended up getting the ball back and getting a put back, but it was an awesome play. On another play Brand tried blowing by Tyson and I saw his face and Brand just looked shocked. He made a move left and than tried to go right and around towards the hoop for a dunk/layup and Chandler is already over standing there and Brand had nowhere to go. Anyone that didn't watch the game may look at Brand's points and slam on Tyson, but Brand put up almost all his points from the line (not on Tyson's fouls) and from Sweetney (who tried hard but can't guard Elton) and Songalia (harrington actually did a solid job but wasn't in that often). When Tyson was on Brand, Brand couldn't do crap. It was just an awesome display cause Brand is rarely shut down by any defender. Noc and Hinrich are pretty banged up though. Noc left at the half with a bloody nose and looked to be limping off the court right near the end of the game. Duhon wasn't anywhere to be seen (is he back in Chicago getting treatment?). The ASB couldn't come at a better time cause I really think (hinrich especially) need the rest. Hinrich's shot is really being effected by his shoulder injury.
  24. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) I cannot believe I watched curling as well. They always look so upset, calm down your sweeping ice, its not that hard. I was watching it too. I honestly have no clue what the sweeping does. I assume it speeds up the rock though.
  25. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 07:16 AM) Usually beasts dont give up double-doubles with 30 pts. He got most of his points on Sweetney and Songalia. When Chandler was on him he had pretty much nothing.
