QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) Duke's going to come away with this one, NC State can't buy a bucket at the close of this game. Final score 81-68. Florida won 113-62. Rutgers is up 38-37 at the half on Pitt. Memphis down at home to Tenn. 45-41 at the half. Memphis is getting wide open shots with easy but they are playing total street ball on offense (basically showboating) while just doing nothing on defense. They are an insanely athletic team and damn can they run. Tenn has forced some turnovers and shot unreal. No way will they keep it up cause Calliparri will get on his guys to come out and focus. It doesn't help when Callipari calls Tenn a joke of a team (well he basically said that). He hates how they have to play Tenn every year cause Tenn is so bad. They better just take care of business otherwise they make Callipari look like a fool.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Dukies losing at half to N.C. State 34-33. I really like the way the Wolfpack play. They don't have any superstarts, but they are team oritented, give 100% on both ends and have great coaching. That is a team you root for, and it doesn't hurt that they are playing Duke. Simmons had a monstrous game and they did a good job tying down Reddick, but Sheldon Williams and the rest of the Dukies were able to step it up. Real fun game to watch and I agree that NC State will be a dangerous team come tourney time. They are strong defensively and Simmons can be a beast inside (strong on the boards and a ridiculous shot blocker). Hell the more I look at Iowa's schedule the more I can't figure out how we aren't ranked higher. Our losses are to Texas, Northern Iowa (supposedly the best team in its conference), ISU (solid team and we didn't have Horner) and Wiscy (in Wiscy where we fell apart after having a lead for most of the 1st half). We have wins against NCState, Kentucky (well that doesnt' say much anymore), and The Illini. Of course if they can step up their game in the Big 10 they will eventually get some credit. Hell, I'm buying into the Wiscy possibly being the best team in the big 10 and they get zero love in the polls.

Rex Kickass Is Now the Mod Here
Hey Guys and Gals Just wanted to tell you that Rex Kickass has been named the mod of this board. Its going to be his assignment to make sure free debate can take place, while at the same time, posters don't cross the a line. We want respectful debate to occur here. Sure, we left things to get a little more harsh here, but at the same time, we've seen more than a few discussions get well out of hand where the respect was essentially completely non-existent. I think Rex will do a tremendous job in this forum. He partakes in most of the discussions here and has a good feel for what should and shouldn't be tolerated. He's going to make a great mod of this forum and I think he'll help make this forum better

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Bracketology has us as a #4 before last night. And I know #5 is a prime upset seed, but FWIW, IU was a #5 in 2002. So it's not an impossible spot. They got the Hawks pretty low still, kind of surprising consider our RPI. Iowa still has to prove they won't just take a s*** in the big 10 like they normally do. If they can defend home court and do a decent job on the road they'd be in business, but i think they got to prove it to the experts. Gotta get a win today against Minnesota and than they can look at a huge game against MSU on Saturday. 1st, beat the Golden Gophers tonight.

Firefox Extension for Soxtalk
QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) How's this? I could probably do similar with the other ST logo's if you would like. Sweet...I likey. Also sounds good. Thanks so much. As far as the others go, instead of Best White Sox Community, if you could implement "Looking at the Sox Stars of Tomorrow" that would be sweet. Thanks so much

Top Prospects at the TE position
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Davis is nothing but a pipe dream at this point. There ain't a snowball's chance in hell he falls to the Bears. If the Rams find a way to grab him, they've just added a very deadly component to that already high-flying offense. Although it's a bit early to tell, I think you'll see Pope drafted ahead of Lewis. I really think Lewis hurt his stock in the Sun Bowl and is going to need a nice combine to work that back up again. Pope looks to be my #1 sweetheart. I just love what he brings to the game. He would be an absolutely perfect fit for the Bears and I would say it'd be one of the finer first-round draft selections of the organization in the recent past. He's just a perfect fit. The days of the dominating TEs are not a thing of the past. I think they are still very much alive. Pope would add a very special component to that Bearss anemic offense that would merit intense preparation for opposing defensive coordinators. I've seen Lewis really slipping lately. In fact, he could be there in the middle of the 2nd round when the Bears pick. A few people have rated Fasano over him and Fasano is a 1st day pick, but I don't see him going earlier than middle of the 2nd round as well. I think you got to go best available if you are the Bears (aside from MLB and obviously RB). So if there is a really good athlete available when the Bears pick I think you grab him or take advantage of this guy being on the board and move down a few slots for some extra draft spots. Thats mainly because I think you can get a Fasano or Lewis with our 2nd round pick and I don't think Pope is a full round better than those two. However, Davis is, but he's a freakish athlete whose gonna go top 15.

MVP 06 Release Date
QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) yeah, you can preorder at any website really, ebgames, gamestop, amazon. Though it kinda defeats the purpose since shipping will take an extra day anyway. No, I meant to say pre-order it via the web, but pick it up at the gamestop near you.

2006 Field Assigments
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Damnit, I need to get the release up on FS reasonably soon.... i put up the WS release yesterday. Didn't see one out for the others yet, but I've been really busy working on the new Soxtalk and an upgrade to FutureSox cause I want both to be really badass again.

MVP 06 Release Date
QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I called my EB and they said thursday. They also said it's probably going to be a popular title and to preorder it, which i'm going to do later on today. (maybe that's just because i'm in a college town though) Can you preorder for a store online? I saw there would be a preorder release on Wed on the website or something like that.

2006 Field Assigments
Some good moves. Santana's taking over in WS and I really like Shines moving up to AAA. Shines has done a great job and is a really solid minor league manager (has some fire too) and maybe he'll change the attitude in Charlotte (it is in need of a change).

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) This game is very important for IU. Gotta hold serve at home in the Big 10. I think if Brown gets hot as he has been known to do, it could be a long night for the Hoosiers. However, I think the combo of Vaden and Killingsworth get it done at home. I'm not much for predictions, but I think IU should pull it out by 4 or 5. PS Someone needs to beat Wisconsin and soon. I heard some guy talking about Wiscy and he said he thought they were the best team in the Big 10. All I know is they get zero love and they have probably been the best big 10 team outside of the Illini the past few years (MSU has been solid too).

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Reading the Operation Spots board, looks like your going to be hard pressed to find it today. Whats the operation sports board? I know I've never found a place that releases the games earlier than the EA release. The few times I looked I was told if EA found out they released a day early, EA wouldn't allow them to sell the games.

Airport Mechanic Sucked Into Jet Engine
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:43 AM) I remember something similar on one of those wild TLC or Discovery programs which highlight humany misery. May have been Spike TV, I don't recall. But anyways, it was caught on film. A mechanic of a fighter jet was caught on night vision walking past a turbine engine, where he was literally sucked into it. He miraculously survived. It looked surreal on tape; something you'd never expect to witness. Too bad this guy wasn't so lucky. I remember seeing that clip. It was insane.

Crede signs 1-year deal!
Good news. Thats good money for him. Sox were able to avoid arbitration and I can't explain how great of news that is. Arbitration can really hurt a teams chances when the player does become a FA.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) 2nd round and bye bye again. That team amazes me, their offense is so very good but not just that they can't defend it almost seems like they dont care. They score and they just get beat in transition, it's kind of sad to watch. All it takes is an off-shooting night for them and they are gone. It sucks cause I really like the Zags. I happened to be at the regional the 1st year they made the run. Their fans are awesome. A couple of the students were telling me that they essentially close down the school when the team gets in the tourney and pretty much everyone goes to watch em.
