QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) And I'm an Iowa(football) fan. Despite some of the hype of this year's Iowa team . This is the type of year that will be a semi rebuilding year. Iowa has the skills to win the big 10, but they aren't a national championship team. They should finish in the top 15 though and next season I expect majorly big things with Young becoming a junior and Tate being a stud senior. Iowa will probably lose one more game this year, two at the most. Iowa is still a very good team, but they lost a ton of players last year and its very hard to over-come that. My hope was that Iowa would be able to pull off some wins early as the team still meched, but that obviously wasn't the case. However, Tate doesn't go down, Iowa would win and it would of been handily. Iowa was able to run the ball with authority and thats going to be something that makes them a better team once they get on a roll. Still I give ISU credit, they capitalized on Iowa's mistakes and made us pay.

I'll pass on Helton. Konerko should be brought back.

If I were to trade for a 3rd baseman, I'd take a chance and talk to Seattle about taking on Beltre and the remainder of his contract. I don't know if Seattle wants to shift their focus from two big boppers or not (it would be early for them to give up on it). However, Beltre is a really good offensive player and a stud defensive player as well.

Everett isn't that great of a DH/3 hitter. He's been good for the Sox, but that doesn't mean he's a good 3 hole hitter. He's probably the worse or one of the worse 3 hole hitters in all of baseball. This off-season the Sox are going to have to add a couple bats. Gload has been swinging the bat well though and I'd like to see him playing instead of Everett. I also want McCarthy in the rotation and Duque to be shut down for the remainder of the regular season and postseason. Like I said when they got him, it was a terrible move.

B-MAC AND CONTRERAS
I got a feeling McCarthy will be making the next scheduled start in place of Duque.

Guillen sent Marte home
QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Very good point. If Marte were "fired", that would be a trip to the DL, with him being told he should not hang around. Personally, I believe it, it isn't far fetched. I know they're at their wits end with him. All you have to do is listen to Harrelson, he's the mouthpiece. Marte will be dealt in the off-season, there is no doubt about that. I'm guessing the Sox are going to put him on the DL. I think the poster is referring to him showing up to the game late and Ozzie telling him to go home and not be at todays game. The Sox aren't going to waive him, he has trade value.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) I will be visiting Washington/Richmond/Bristol area next year, how hard (how much) will it be to get to Chicago for a couple of days? Not too hard. I think there are some round trip flights out of Washington or Baltimore for pretty inexpensive (maybe 140-159 bucks roundtrip).

Remembering 9/11
I was laying in bed asleep and my mom came running down stairs and woke me up. She was like, Jason, a plane crashed into the World Trade center. At first, I didn't think much of it (I thought it was an accident and while sad, I figured it was a small plane and the building was meant to handle that). I then got up (had school in the morning) and turned on the news and saw them talking about it being an accident and than pretty much right when I turned it on the 2nd plane hit. Thats when everything sunk in that this was no accident. It was just surreal, everything was in slow motion, 2nd plane hits and than they are talking about the plane hitting the pentagon and than eventually about the plane heading for the white house, which was the plane that went down in Pennsylvania thanks to those brave men and women. I think I watched coverage for hours, drove to school (radio on), got to school (classes were cancelled) and went over to my dads work and we all just watched news and talked about it pretty much the whole day. Truly a horrific day and one I'll never ever ever forget.

Bears vs. Redskins 9/11 Game Thread
I'm excited, gonna head to the bar in a few minutes. Man I can't wait.

Baj?
He's pitched well in his two outings thus far for the Sox.

Weis has gotten ND looking damn good
ND may hit the top 10 today. I'm guessing they'll sky-rocket in polls. They still got a hell of a schedule. Regardless, the Weiss era has opened in definate style. 2-0 with 2 wins against ranked opponents at the time (one of which was #3 Michigan in the big house).

f***ing pathetic Iowa. ISU is not that good, but I give them credit they beat the piss out of the Hawkeyes who continually shot themselves in the foot. ND on the other hand...mega props.

Nd comes up with a huge INT at around their own 5 to stop the best Michigan drive of the game. Grady is in and doing a good job running the ball for Michigan w/Hart out.

Game Thread Angels vs Sox 9/10 12:15 CT
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) That looked up out of the zone? It was definately not a good pitch to swing at, but it wasn't awful. I dont' think it would of been called a strike, and its not a pitch you want to swing at when your talking about Colon (high heat). However, with the bases loaded, even though he's walked 3 guys, I understand the idea of swinging 1st pitch. You know damn well your getting a fastball. Problem was he didn't get one that he could hit.

Game Thread Angels vs Sox 9/10 12:15 CT
Not a good decision to swing at the first pitch, but it was a strike he swung at and you know he could sit dead red on it. Oh well, they worked Colon that inning, too bad they only got one run to show for it.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Jason, how do you listen to Hudler game after game? He makes my ears bleed. Good question...quite frankly I don't. I either have no volume on or watch another team play. Its sickening, the guy is an imbescile. Bigger yet he's a moron. I still can't believe how the guy tried to sneak weed past airport screeners (like a week after 9/11) and than he's shocked that they catch him. They better not renew his contract at the end of this season. Hell, its one of the things I'm looking forward to most. Biggest off-season move by the ANgels will be bringing in a good announcer.

One thing about Figgins is he makes those type of plays all day long. The guy has to be one of the most under-rated players in baseball. He can play everywhere and seemingly can do anything.

Crikes...what a play by Figgins to rob Everett.
