  1. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 19, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) This is Ken Rosenthal's response to my e-mail...obvioulsy this was B.S....he didn't start this... "I seriously doubt it. Chavez is in the first year of a six-year, $66 million deal. " Well thats that. I edited the subtitle of the topic and removed Rosenthal's name.
  2. PUt it this way. How would you guys like a gold glove 3rd baseman, 27 year old, LHB, 35 HR's, 115 RBI, .270 AVG, 360 OBP???? Thats the type of numbers Chavez could even average over the remainder of his contract. I'm a huge Crede fan but the Sox are in to win this now and Chavez makes this team that much better. Now if they deal Bmac I think they are dealing someone that will pitch later this year so I wouldn't ask for him and maybe Beane decides he wants hitting cause he has enough power pitching prospects for the time being. BY hitting I mean a better hitter (Anderson...Beane usually wants ML ready guys or near ML ready guys) and a prospect along the lines of Tracey or Gio, etc and than maybe even another guy (hell that guy could be Josh Fields). I'm saying one thing, your getting a proven ML stud and he's signed long term entering his prime...that meets all the conditions to deal anyone in the system, imo. Plus he's playing at one of what I call a "premium position".
  3. 1st off I just want to say one thing. Crede is gonna be stuck with arbitration for another few years I think. I could be wrong though cause I know he's been up here for a while. And on a sidenote, are you freaking nuts...hell ya I make this deal. You get a power handed left handed bat and one of the few 3rd baseman that is actually better defensively than Crede. He'd also be moving from a pitchers haven to a hitters park and I realize that hasn't exactly worked out for Jermaine Dye thus far, but Chavez is one heck of a ballplayer who is signed to what I would call a relatively affordable deal. The key here is the Sox would probably be picking up salary this year, but they would be losing some contracts next year (PK/Thomas maybe) which would allow them to do this. The only thing I'd make damn sure of is that he didn't have some sort of lingering injury. I know something happened to him last year (Marte broke his wrist I think) but assuming he's fine I'd pull the deal, I'd even think long and hard about it if Bmac was in it. However I think with the contract the Sox would be taking, you would be able to make the deal without Bmac. But not trading Anderson would be another story, imo. SO in short, DO IT KENNY. Hell, Crede, Anderson, Bmac for Chavez I'd consider. The Sox would have Chavez for the next 5 years if they wanted and he's just entering his prime. Last year he hit 29 HR's in just 125 games and had a .397 OBP. If the Sox could have him and AJP's LHB in the lineup all year that would give the Sox a way more complete ballclub.
  4. Are you still having that problem? IF so I may have a quick solution for you.

    Star Wars

All I'm going to say is this definately lives up to the hype. By far the best of this trilogy and I believe it competes with the original 3. Fantfreakingtastic
  6. They won't waste an option on Anderson to have him come up solely to pinch hit and go down. You could see Norton or someone like that up though. Personally I don't think they'll make any move unless they move Walker back down.

    Star Wars

QUOTE(Yoda @ May 18, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) I’m a big Star Wars fan (I bet you didn’t know that!) but sadly I will not be able to see it tonight nor tomorrow. I got tickets for this Saturday afternoon. My local theater told me they were sold out on Thursday and Friday so.... Lol, we were lucky. It was playing in 5 theatres at my local theatre so we were able to just pick up tix like half an hour ago. On a sidenote, first time I ever used fandango. We went to the theatre and it said it was sold out but on Fandango there were tickets.

    Star Wars

I know I'm planning on it. The hell with my class tomorrow, lol. It looks so damn badass.
  9. Brilliant game and it was awesome seeing Paulie and Dye hit the ball hard. And AJ, Buehrle, Cotts and Politte!!!
  10. Ya, Julio him both converted. I gotta say one thing, Paulino must of been the only 1st baseman that could throw with that kind of gas. I'd have loved to see him turn the DP over at 1st, lol.
  11. O'DOYLE Rules Happy Birthday Mike!!!!
  12. QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Chisoxfn: Nice read. Especially for us "out-of-towners" who can't get the grit and gristle of what happens behind the White Sox scenes, articles like this help us to know more about the organization as a whole, from the minor league affiliates to the big league club. Let me ask you something though, and I really hope you don't take offense to this because my intention is only to try to make it even better than it already is. Do you have an editor or proofreader? If not, I'd like to offer to do the editing and/or proofreading for your articles. LMK what you think. Ya that would be fantastic. The group of us edits each other, but editing my work can sometimes be tough cause I'm not exactly brilliant with my choice of words, lol. Would you like me to email you the articles? I have one right now I could shoot your way. I know it still needs some touch ups in terms of me adding content and filtering it though.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Go ahead, us FS guys have had to deal with him for a while. On a side note, this is really before I started following the Sox minors, Jason, but didn't we sign Bounds? Ya, my bad. Bounds was definately on the team. Hell dasox24 was always a big time Bounds fan.
  14. Damn right he is. He's an exceptional hitting coach, regardless of the fact that the Sox have a few hitters struggling. I love Walker's approach and I think he did an oustanding job last year and he's slowly getting the Sox bats going again.
  15. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) Can you belive it was Honel: One of those games we shouldn't have won but Jacksonville was in a giving mood and helped Honel through 5 innings by chasing bad pitches and hitting little pop-ups Thats right, wasn't that the game where Honel gave up pretty much nothing, but he also walked a million guys and I remember you telling us he was flat brutal despite getting the win. On a sidenote, have you heard anything about Kris? I know his velocity has been a tad bit better this year (into the mid 80's) and even when he was at his best he pretty much was an 87-89 MPH pitcher. Right now I think he's got a huge mental block and he has just zero confidence in himself. The Kris I remember was almost overly cocky.
  16. Article has been updated with a list of all of the 2000 draft picks, including those that signed. If anyone notices an error in who signed please inform me and I'll correct the changes. I may of missed one or two players.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 04:53 AM) Interesting, I know lots of people (White Sox and other teams scouts) were watching him closely in Arizona this spring. He does have a live arm, no doubt. I was mildly surprised when they put him on the 40 man roster but they must've felt this guy was primed for a breakout year, and here it is. 3B Josh Fields in a slump ... down to .248, 0-4 last nite with 3 K's. I was one of those in shock cause it meant Ryan Wing got away. Of course I remember Wilder and a few others mentioned that Reynoso just had a killer arm. He's a converted ss if I recall and any lefty that can throw in the upper 90's has some value.
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 04:16 AM) http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...bufaaa_chraaa_1 It's good to see Felix Diaz is back to doing what he does best -- giving up the long ball. Oh ya, cause aside from that he's actually pitched quite well since coming off from an injury. Why don't you stop ripping on guys so much and start enjoying the season.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) This is very encouraging from our source close to the scene. Thanks as always for your insights. 100 MPH ... wow. If he can control the curve, look out. Funny thing is multiple scouts have in the past said his curveball is even better than his fastball (which was once advertised as the best in the entire minor leagues). They compare his hook to Roger Clemens. Hell people said he has the stuff of the Rocket. Of course Rocket also is one hell of a battler and is a workout warrior. Still Jenks has one hell of an arm and I was so pumped when the Sox claimed him.
  20. Ya, he's got a knuckler and throws some other stuff. I've got a little write up about him in the 2001 draft review thats going to be up tonight or tomorrow. Its done I just have some minor edits to make.
  21. Much appreciated. It looks on the most part that they have faired pretty good. With the exception being some of the Dodgers farmhands have really kicked but. Ik now Billingsly has pretty much dominated them in two starts. Although I think Tracey or someone out dueled him in one outing.

    Marte

There has been two different Damaso's this year. He started off the year brilliantly but the past 7-10 days hasn't had the command. Early in the year he was pitching inside again and was looking much more like the Damaso of old.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Rescue Me rocks, Denis Leary is f***ing awesome. period.
  24. QUOTE(Cali @ May 16, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Might be for at least one of the 4 games. But, making a weekend of it for the San Diego series however. Cool...and I'm sure your gonna drive through riverside county just to bypass the OC Hell I've probably used that joke before.
