Day 2 Draft Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) This was J.P.'s Losman's favorite target in College right?... I think its a good pick, but with all these WR's you have to wonder where Gage and Berrian are going to fall on the depth chart. Musin, Gage, Berrian, Wade, Bradley, and Currie will be the 6 WR's. Maybe they plan on carrying 6 of them?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) How many f***ing WR's do we need god damnit The guy is pretty darn good football player, statistically speaking at least. I kind of thought yesterday they may draft 2 WR's simply because they want depth and they want to have plenty of potential guys to develop and obviously want to give Rex plenty of options. Bears may be looking at OLB right after the draft via FA.

Bears draft Airese Currie. If I recall he's a really fast reciever. I've heard his name before.

Shazor will be there and OLB is a need of the Bears. That or they could go TE or PK.

I'd have to think Cleveland looks long and hard at Shazor.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) KEEP FALLING SHAZOR fall all the way to 140 you can start this year at OLB I know Lovie had indicated that they would look at OLB in the draft so maybe they'll think of moving up but thats probably doubtful.

Cliff Politte Interview
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) I love the uribe line. Ozzie had a great quote earlier saying "I have to know how to curse in english, spanish, japanese, and whatever language uribe is speaking." Overall just a funny interview.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) You have my respect. What a gutsy play tonight. Your a gamer, i'll tell you that. He also has his zip back on that fastball and is looking fantastic this year. I absolutely love this bullpen, especially when Shingo gets his stuff together and he will.

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) That would have been a fantastic pick for anyone in round 2, he was a projected 1st rounder BTW, love the Miami pick "Roth is regarded as one of the premier pass rushers in the collegiate ranks and one of the toughest players in the country. He is a blue-chip prospect with a blue-collar work ethic. Roth is a colorful character who plays the game as if he is on a "search and destroy" mission. He is the source of a campus urban legend, as many Hawkeyes talk of the time Roth challenged and cleared out an entire bar in a fight." As a huge Hawkeye fan I can tell you that both Miami and Atlanta got two very good, talented football players in Roth and Babineaux. Both can get at the QB and also do a good job against the run. They were also very well coached and have good fundementals.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Ick. McMillon should be a number five on a team with good CB depth -- or barely on the roster. I'm hoping they grab a CB in the fifth... McMillon is a $5. Vasher, Rdub, Zoom, and Peanut are all ahead of him on the CB scale. Rdub will not be playing FS this year unless they find themselves in a pinch.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) Am I the only one who doesn't like it? I'd rather have a guy who's going to help you this year, i.e. Vasher last year -- have a chance to compete for a starting job. Reallistically, Orton has no shot of starting this year. I really would have liked to see them bring in someone for the O-Line, or perhaps help in the secondary. Because -- just incase we were to cut R-Dub, who do we have? Tillman, Azumah, Vasher.... and I'm drawing a blank... The Bears aren't going to cut Rdub. If they were, they may of drafted a CB. Orton is a very good pick because the Bears need help at the QB position. They didn't want to spend a lot of money at that position, therefor going via the draft in the latter rounds was there only option and they are getting a guy, who if he hadn't been hurt, would of likely been an early 1st day selection.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) When they showed Bradley's highlights etc he looked like a YAC monster. The old adage is you can't teach athletism. The Bears obviously believe they can mold him into a stud. He's definately got the ability, just insane combine numbers and great field vision for yac.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Benson's interview after makes you feel a little less good about the pick but it's not a bad one. I do worry that Williams is going to really try to make Chicago and Minnesota big time victims for passing on him. I feel that they should go outside linebacker and I feel that they will. Lovie heavily hinted at that the other day. I think they will wait until the third for a reciever or move up into the end of the second if they really like someone. Angelo's drafts in the first have been questionable but he's done well in rounds 2-4 the last few years. Ya, the only knock I have on Benson is he sounds like a total freaking idiot. I heard him on ESPN and then he was on ESPN radio later in the day and again he sounded just totally stupid (imo). Then I heard Braylon Edwards on and god did he sound like a total stud. Same with Carnell Williams. Both just sound smart and like they know what they need to do. On the field though Benson was the best of the bunch. The guy is one of the all time best runners in collegiate football history. He's a total beast and can be a powerhouse. The Bears CB coach is also a former assistant at Texas and is familiar with Benson. If Benson has attitude problems I sure as hell believe and hope that the Bears CB coach would of said something about it. Assuming Benson signs and doesn't pull an Enis, he's got all the skills to be one hell of a back. And Bradley...holy cripes are the Bears taking a risk but this guy may be the best athlete in the draft. Kiper sure as hell loved the pick. He's definately raw, but he plays a physical game and is just an unbelieavable athlete. Also one of the states best high jumpers and was a decathalon star. He's like a slash type player.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) I think they will if they can. I believe that's the Bears preference. My hope is someone wants Rodgers bad enough and makes an offer. All 3 backs will be there plus Mike Williams (or so I think). If not all 3 backs then Braylon and 2 of the backs (with Miami taking Ronnie and I don't see this happening). JA is going to wait till the very end and listen to every and any offer.

Looks as if all the backs will be on the board when the Bears pick. Browns seem to want Pollock bad...they'd prefer to move down and get him, but it doens't appear thats going to happen.
