Big 12 Tournament...
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) The question is do they deserve a 2? Illinois UNC Duke Wake Zona Louisville Oklahoma State Kentucky Probably so, because they have so many QUALITY wins. The late slide will definately hurt them, but Okie State is a good team and its no knock on them. I'd still give them a 2 seed, imo.

Pac 10 Championship
Should be a really good game. Both teams don't get talked about much but Salim Stoudamire is a hell of a player, plus Arizona has good depth. While I think the Pac 10 blows, Arizona is one of those teams that when hot is really hard to beat, same can be said for Washington as well. If Arizona wins this they could have an outside shot at a #1 seed, but my guess is they'll be a 2 seed regardless.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Don't be so sure, UNC isn't the same team it was even a month ago. I don't know whats wrong, but somethings not right. They used to get 22+ assists a game, lately its been single digits every single game. Hopefully the extra time off will help them focus for the tourney, I'm not holding my breath though. I'm just not sure if these kids know how to win or not. I hope they prove me wrong. I dunno, call me crazy but whenever I think of UNC I get visions of that asswhooping the Heels layed on the Hawkeyes earlier in the year back when Iowa was playing some of the best basketball in the country (which lasted until the start of big 10 play, LOL).

Big Ten Tournament
On a sidenote, I'm gonna support Aflord again hoping that he's learned a valuable lesson from the entire Pierre Pierce incident and the Iowa program can start taking some huge steps forward. Because if he can't make some noise next year in the big 10 with this entire nucleus back, then he's got some serious issues. However, I think he comes through and I think Iowa is gonna finish top 3 in the big ten next year. You heard it here first

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Alfords teams ALWAYS play their best ball in March. That is true. The thing is, he's got to get this team to start playing well in the big 10. They typically come out of the gates hot and tend to beat a few top 15 type teams and then once big 10 season goes they find themselves in trouble needing a strong tourney performance. Hell, Alford is a lot like Lavin in that sense cause Lavin used to always find himself in that situation with UCLA but would end up getting into the dance and oftne times going deep. Of course Alford hasn't got the Hawks deep into the dance, however, if they get in, I think they have a shot to make some noise. However, if they play UNC they will get blown out of the water, they just don't match up well with them. First they got to get in, and my guess is they'll be an 8 seed. Meaning a potential 2nd round matchup against a 1.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Doesn't matter. The bank is open Saturday on the westside. Wow. So now back to Iowa. Are they dancin? If they aren't, its a total sham.

Big Ten Tournament
On a sidenote, I think Aflord has really stepped up his level of coaching. They came out and protected the ball in the 2nd half and really played good defense the entire tourney.

Big Ten Tournament
OMG, what a loss. Still Iowa played good. If they don't make the tourney its total horsehist...case closed. They played good after adjusting to life without Pierce and proved they can still play good. More big wins then any other team in the country minus Kansas and Illinois (RPI 50 or better). And ya that intentional foul was a bad one, but Iowa got a few calls that went there way as well. I just hope Big 10 gets 5 teams in: Ill, MSU, Wisc, Minn, and Iowa.

ACC Tournament Predictions
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) What I was just telling wharris a little while ago if gtech wins their tourney I think they get up to atleast a 7 seed and maybe a 6. Remember last year when Maryland came into the acc tourney as a bubble team, won the tourney and they became a 5 seed. I agree with you guys though, gtech right now can beat absolutely anyone and if they don't win the tourney and they end up as an 8 or a 9, the 1 seed who they get matched up against in the 2nd round is getting a raw deal. And then didn't Maryland pretty much choke and burn right out of the tourney? Thats what you have to also look for since GT is using up a lot of there energy. Of course GT is one of the best teams in the country on paper and they are just finally starting to play like that.

ACC Tournament Predictions
Tech is gonna be the team no one wants to play in the tourney. God, I hope Iowa isn't slated to play them in the 1st round Of course they'll also be worn out, just like my Hawks might from having so many games in such a short span. They played really good though, all it took was getting BJ Elder back. And Bynum was insane.

Big 12 Tournament...
Great win by Tech and it also makes Iowa's resume a little bit better

Big Ten Tournament
Wisconsin up 1 at the end of the half. Been a good game though and Hawkeyes are right in it. They need to cut down on the turnovers though. Plus they need quicker rotations because Wisconsin has had some open looks from outside.

Wow what a freaking game. Can't believe that happened. He's right there with the guy from MSU who pulled the major choke job yesterday. Now all the Illini fans can get excited cause there game is now on against Minny.

This Louisville-Memphis game has been a real duzi. Louisville may be pulling away as its a 5 point game now, but Memphis sems to always answer.

Should/Will Mike Davis be back?
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I think there is very little chance Alford would get the IU job. IF Davis goes, the names I am hearing are Kevin Stallings or Rick Majerus. But I still think Davis will return. I highly doubt Majerus would accept any job after the incident that happened after he accepted the USC job earlier this year. I'd say the odds are at about 99% that Majerus is done coaching, at least for the next few years. Unless of course he drops some weight and gets in better health.

Bulls @ sonics.
Jesus, you guys had me scared. I was looking around the net to see if this was anywhere else, LOL. Bastards...your all bastards, haha.
-
Bulls @ sonics.
I don't get it. How could they of taken 6 total points away. Plus Bulls won by 3 so wouldn't another 3 being removed still leave it as a tie????

Big Ten Tournament
Its all good fotop. Its good debate and I just hope Iowa gets in and proves everyone wrong and wins a few games. Personally I like the tourneys because they add a ton of excitement and they give the chance for a potential cinderella story. And best of all, good teams step up, imo. And if your not in by the time the tourney comes its your fault if you falter in the tourney and don't get yourself in. Thats just the way I see it. Of course there are also tons of reasons why tourneys are bad, namely when a team wins there conference and is awesome but plays in a crappy conference and then loses the conference tourney and doesn't get the bid.

MVP Baseball 2005
I'm still on pro. Hell it was only a few days ago I learned about the pitch dealy. Since then my offense has improved a bit. I've only lost twice, but my team has lately been on an offensive tear. I've scored 3 runs or more 3 straight games which is a RECORD.

Bears Trade Rumor
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) The problem is with trading for both guys, is that they want big time long term contracts. Do the Bears have enough cap space to do that? Over 4 mill set aside right now for free agents and then can cut Tucker/Rdub and free up another 1.5-2 million.

Bulls @ sonics.
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) This just in.... They've redone the scoring, Bulls lost. ------------------------ As for the 82 games site.... Cool stuff. Though now I know how people feel when I post some BP s*** or something. WHarris1, Have you read any Dean Oliver? He's the bill james of basketball. The Sonics hired him on as a consultant last season I believe. I don't really follow basketball obsessively like I do Baseball. But I would think that SABRmetrics are much more advanced than BASKETmetrics just on Sample size alone. 1) Baseball plays 162 game seasons, 80 more than baskeball 2) Baseball has been around longer. 3) with incredibly well kept records/game logs. 4) there's a type of zero-sum game in Baseball between the pitcher and the batter. There is no such matchup in Basketball. Nah, Cheat, most of your stats are pretty darn good and I'm not knocking willie at all. There are only one type of stats that I kind stand in terms of baseball stats and I think you know who they are And is that Dean Oliver, ie the former Hawkeye? Only reason I suspect it may be him is because I thought he was with the Sonics for a short time, or maybe that was Golden State.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(Fotop @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) I wasn't going to compare the Big 10 to the Big East because I figured everyone here isn't stupid enough to think the Big 10 can hold a candle to the Big East. I'm holding out on my last glimmer of hope, just as a fan, that the Irish get in so I get something to cheer for (I only have one year left here after this year so I want to see us at least with some shots before I leave). I've said it a ton though, I don't think the team deserves it...if they did they would have played hard to get that last f'n win. And I'm 100% aware that Iowa will be in, I think the AD is going to play a huge role. It's just a damn shame because there are better teams out there, that may or may not be punished by a late loss, IMO. On a sidenote, I just took a note and maybe I'm wrong but are you sure Stanford is a lock? Because most people have UCLA rated ahead of Stanford and I know UCLA is a bubble team. But I could be wrong. On a sidenote, If I underrate a team it would be Washington. And I don't want to hear that stuff that Iowa gets in because of the AD, more wins against RPI 50 or better teams like gene pointd out. Big wins talk and Iowa has more then any bubble team. Thats what will get them in. The thing is, Pierce wnet out and Henderson came right in and has played fantastic. Plus Haluska gets more minutes and the Hawkeyes have a lot of talent. On a sidenote, ya there are definately more talented teams on the bubble, but talent doesn't get you in, wins do.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) TWO teams in the NCAA have more victories over the RPI top 50. ONLY TWO!!! Illinois and Kansas. That's pretty exclusive company. Hate all you want, but they've got the resume of a tourney team. As much as I hate to see them save Alford's job, it appears that it has. Maybe the whole Pierce thing will be a major wake up call, because I gotta say, I absolutely love the way this team has responded from the incident and even more I love the fact that they will all be back, minus Brownlee. Horner and Bruner will have a major vet precense and then Haluska is a freaking stud and I'm diggin Henderson...Good lord did he play huge today. Hansen great defensive center in the Big 10, has to keep out of foul trouble though and hell even Alex Thompson played good today.
