  1. Damn that couldn't work out any better for you. The one person who was calling for him to come up all along and now you get to see him. Hopefully he crushes the ball all weekend.
  2. I'm definately watching tonights game. For a while I've been thinking that maybe all Joe needs is the jump to AAA where he can work with Walker, Manuel and the rest of the staff and just kind of have fun and get adjusted to major league pitching. Hopefully he will keep improving like I think he will. He's a hell of a defensive player, has great speed and can make things happen.
  3. Hope you can go swimming cause its going to be hot out here (Cali) By the way, welcome back. Not sure about the post, but just make a new one, you guys and gals know what to do. You and everyone else on the net that are Sox fans are always welcome here.
  4. I was hoping for the same.
  5. I would wonder, but I'm assuming it is because Melvin Mora doesn't want to play second base and the second baseman they called up is pretty highly thought of or at least thats what the Angel announcers were saying. I just think they were doing this so Matthews could try to start somewhere else.

Or there was the time where you deleted the whole board
  7. But look at what he did last season Vince. If I recall he really hit the ball last year. Also, despite a very low avg he has a .325 obp which tells you if he hits .260 he'd have a .340-.350 obp from a bottom of the lineup hitter. He's a great bunter and has unbelievable range in center. He has more range then the two of our centerfielders combined.
  8. That would be a sweet signing. KW, quick quick sign him. He'd be a huge improvement over what we got.
  9. Ya the new graphics look super sweet Ian. Thanks for fixing the link.
  10. A Week in Review (May 14-20): Charlotte Knights By: Mark J. Jacobsen May 22, 2003 SoxNet.net Week of May 14th – May 20th Record: 3-4 Who’s Hot? Aaron Miles: 6-15 Who’s Not? Mike Porzio: 4.1 IP 8 H 5 ER WEDNESDAY – MAY 14th The Columbus Clippers beat the Charlotte Knights 7-3 Wednesday on Wednesday night. Aaron Miles went 3-5 with two of the Knights three runs scored. Knight’s starter Brian Cooper (5-3) gave up six runs on eight hits and three walks in five innings, taking the loss. THURSDAY – May 15th The Highly regarded Drew Henson had a solo home run as the Columbus Clippers beat the Charlotte Knights 6-2 Thursday in an International League game. It was the Knights' sixth straight loss. Ross Gload hit a solo home run in the second inning to pull Charlotte within one. The Knights' only other run came off a Joe Borchard RBI ground out. FRIDAY – May 16th Jon Adkins and a pair of relievers combined on an eight-hit shutout as the Charlotte Knights defeated the Columbus Clippers, 5-0. Aaron Miles put the Knights up for good in this game with a single in the third inning. Cliff Brumbaugh drilled a two-run shot to put the game away and end a six game winless streak. SATURDAY – May 17th Jorge Nunez drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Charlotte Knights edged the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, 3-2. After Scott Morgan walked to lead off the inning and was bunted to second base by Steve Morales, Nunez ripped his second hit of the game into center field to win the game. Gary Majewski (2-1) earned the win, giving up a run over three innings pitched. SUNDAY – May 18th On Sunday, the Charlotte Knights played a double header against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. In game one, Felix Diaz (2-4) allowed five hits in six innings, including solo home runs in the Knights 5-0 loss. In the second game, four un-earned runs were all the Knights need for their 4-3 win over SWB. Brian West (1-0) retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced, and left after five innings with the lead, which was good enough to earn himself his first win on the season MONDAY – May 19th The Knights were Idle on this day. TUESDAY – May 20th The Knights were out hit 16-2 during this game, yet held a 1-0 lead going into the ninth inning, when Edwin Almonte (0-2) blew his second game on the season en route to a 2-1 loss against the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre RedBarons. Brian Cooper pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up 10 hits, yet left the game without yielding a run. This bizarre game ended what was a disappointing week for Charlotte in which they dropped a game under .500 at 21 – 22.
  11. Buehrle would be just fine. Now would be a good time to offer him a deal very similar to the last one.
  12. Hope you have a great birthday day
  13. Michelle, your right I do like KW and I still like him
  14. For another option, I'd love to get Randy Wynn but I think it would be tough to lure him from Seattle. Actually, it would be quite easy to get Wynn from Seattle The M's got him by sending Lou to the Devil Rays. Which means all that we would have to do is send our very own lovable Jerry Manuel Yep, that is the trick..... kILLING TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE Post of the week in my book

Maggs was never really challenged in CF. I would call Aaron slightly above average as a defensive CF. He works hard, gets good jumps and plays a smart CF. No one else on this team can say that. Rowand is a lot like Erstad defensively. Not quite Erstad like, but in regards to hustle and just work ethic they are exactly alike and because of it Rowand is an above average centerfielder. He's also got a very solid arm. I agree. His arm is excellent. He has has the strongest OF arm the Sox have had (Majors or Minors) for years. Give him 2 weeks and if that doesn't work, make a deal for someone. But I think he deserves another chance. He has had time to clear his head and step back and see what failed earlier. He won't hurt us in CF, at least not any worse than anyone we have now. The upside to that move is huge. If he comes back up and succeeds then our problems are solved, at least for the season. If not, then you are giving a home grown guy one last chance that he earned last year. Lots of guys struggle early in their careers. Many make the best of second opportunites. I think Aaron can do just that. I could buy into that. The only thing is I don't really want Harris to go down yet. I really want Willie to get a one time shot where he could just play straight through without worrying about anything (like a 2 week stretch) and see if he picks things up. Never has he been given that opportunity. Then if he fails, go with Aaron for 2 weeks and then make a deal. Considering Willie already should be a bit more familiar you could be skimpier on it or on Aaron, but I'm not against giving one last shot. Just don't take too long to make the verdict.
  17. Oh man I love Sheffield. His attitude is no longer a problem and he's a heck of a player. We aren't getting him, but damn is he talented. If we were going to lose Maggs, then Sheff would be one guy I'd be able to live with replacing him.
  18. Rex the sad things is, those numbers from Lofton during his slump would be better then we got right now.

  20. Kielty is one of my favorite guys to watch play. I've been saying it since last year. I wish there was a way to get him on the Sox. He just makes things happen.
  21. Thats all he is. I know he's supposed to be a top prospect but I watched him throw a bullpen session for about 20 minutes on Sunday in San Diego and he couldn't throw anything for a strike. Hampton looked pretty solid during his session though.
  22. Lets think of it this way, we could do a Ginter for Lofton deal and I'd say both sides could win. I am of the belief that Ginter will turn into a solid reliever while Lofton would help the Sox big time. I'd hope to be able to get it done for less, but I won't complain either way. As long as we aren't giving up a Diaz type prospect. Heres one that Hudler would like, Shaffer for Lofton Then Yan could finally move up to AA.
  23. I think it means we have what it takes to get him, but the move makes no sense from the Sox perspective cause they won't take on that type of salary without unloading it. Only way this happens is if there is some type of three way where someone picks up PK or someone elses salary.
  24. Guys, just wait till I come out. If I'm out there I won't only hit bombs, but I will shut you guys down. I can put absolutely sick movement on the whiffle balls. I have drilled all of my friends and still got them to swing at the pitches because they start about 4 foot outside and shoot all the way into their hands. Your either drilled while swinging or jammed.
  25. He could always waive it. He wasn't willing to do so in the past. He's been struggling since coming back from an injury, but I don't see the Pirates dumping him. They have a pretty solid foundation.
