  1. By the way, Dunn has extra base hits in each of his past 3 games. Did great on Monday, doubled yesterday, and hit a bomb today after having a solid single in his first AB.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 11, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) Why aren't you at this game, Gage? Work. I only got to go to Monday's game. And I brought em good luck
  3. Fathom, I should add, your comments were in the first inning. Its looked a bit better, but he has definitely hung his fair share. Velocity is nice though. And to answer you, Chatwood has a nasty yacker and a good sinking fastball and was the Angels top pitching prospect. Guy has a great arm.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Nice play by Alexei. Peavy's velocity is better than expected, but his slider has nothing on it. Thats odd, given that the Angels announcers have been commenting how sharp it looks. I've seen it between 81 and 87 on the clock. He rolled one or two but he's also snapped off a couple nasty ones.
  5. Predict Mavs over Lakers....Check Predict Heat over Celtics in 5...Check Predict Bulls over Hawks....Hopefully Soon Predict OKC over Memphis.....TBD And I don't agree with those saying Boston choked. Boston was clearly the worst team in this series. People are busy blowing them after they beat the s***ty Knicks and it wasn't deserved. Boston sucked as the season dragged on and approached the end as there best players continued to age and fatigue. They are still obviously a good team, but they weren't going to win anything this year.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Because in the grand scheme of things the record just doesn't matter. I mean, have you ever watched or went to check a minor league boxscore and said "f***! they lost!" I mean honestly. If they do well that's a bonus. No problem. But do you think Nationals fans care about the record of their low A affiliate or the progress of Bryce Harper? Or Angels fans with how Mike Trout is doing or their AA record? It's all meaningless. But you aren't a fan of the team. If you live there and are attending the games, you are a fan of the team and want to see them win. Hell, plenty of people are fans of the local minor league team and could care less about the major league affiliated they are backed by.
  7. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) AmEx is pretty solid, but they have no qualms whatsoever about FRing you frequently, if they don't like your shopping habits, usage amounts, etc. (Financial Review) Ya, if anything goes wrong with your credit, even if you've never had any problems they are known to boot you.
  8. If you have a choice, go Amex. Amex is the only of the major credit card companies that is always on your side when it comes to dispute resolution. Visa and Mastercard don't do it near as often. In fact, studies have been done and AMEX customers win there disputes on charges, significantly more than other companies. The only downside to an Amex or Discover is that they aren't as widely accepted. But I put everything on my cards (Amex Cash Rewards) and pay off the balance in full every month. Have a couple others that I have and use for those purchases that I can't use my AMEX on and keep them open because it is good to have lots of available credit from a credit score perspective.
  9. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 11, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) Just because they have a bunch of rings doesn't mean they're automatically good players. Fisher has career averages of 8.8/2.1/3.1 while shooting 40% from the field and 37.5% from the arc. Horry averaged 7 PPG for his career and shot 42.5% from the floor (34% from the arc). Shaw had career averages of 7/3.4/4.2 with a FG% of 40 and a 3PT% barely over 30. George shot below 40% from the field for his career and averaged 5.6 PPG in his career. Those guys aren't exactly world beaters. They're all average to below average players that happened to land on the right team with the right guys carrying the load. Yes, they hit some big shots (especially Horry and Fisher), but getting the opportunity to take those huge shots is also a major part of that equation. If those guys spend most of their career on the Clippers instead of the Lakers, no one has any clue who they are. Bosh is better than any #3 scorer that the Lakers had, and the biggest difference between Horry and Fisher and guys like Bibby, Jones, Chalmers and Miller is that they haven't had dozens of opportunities in their career to make an impact on a playoff game. Maybe they hit some key shots, maybe they don't. Obviously you need that to win titles. But a couple of made jumpers at the right times doesn't suddenly turn those guys into stars. You are selling Horry way short.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) The Blazers and Kings had bench mobs in the early 2000s. The Lakers had Shaq and Kobe. The end. Again, not saying the Bulls can't win. But I don't see either bench playing a huge role in the upcoming series. And if it weren't for refs, complete choke-jobs, and a couple lucky bounces, the Lakers would have 1 to 2 less titles during that run. Those teams were loaded and all of the teams you describe were in my opinion world championship caliber clubs.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2011 -> 08:46 AM) But we didn't play the Heat 82 times. Chances our if we did we don't win 62 games. I'm talking a best of 7 conference finals. Forget about the regular season. I know we went 3-0 against them. Great. But this will be BY FAR the Bulls' biggest challenge. I'm 50-50. The Bulls fans in me wants to say Bulls in 7. The NBA fan in me thinks that 9 times out of 10 star power wins out. So we shall see. I'm lookin' forward to it. The Bulls fan in me says we'll take it 6 games or so. The Basketball fan in me says it goes 5 and the Heat clobber us. THey just have so much star power and firepower. But you know what, I'm hoping the Bulls step up there game and just kick some ass.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2011 -> 05:28 AM) still gotta remember the new CBA. If something like a franchise tag or a hard cap appears it changes everything. And that is why it would be stupid to move Dwight. Dwight is a special player, the time of guy you can win a lot of championships with. Replace Noah with Howard and were on our way to our first title this year! Replace Dwight with Pau or Bynum, Lakers are doing the same. If I'm Orlando, I bank on two things. One, I try to build our team to be as good as possible, win or make the championships and Dwight probably stays. Scenario two, you end up with a franchise tag and you get to keep Dwight anyway. Under no circumstance am I dealing Dwight, unless I'm getting another franchise player in return and that just isn't going to happen. Or if I'm able to get talent back, plus get out from a ton of terrible contracts to set myself up pretty for 2012 where we can sell people to play in beautiful Orlando like they did when McGrady and Hill were free agents.
  13. If you have any choice in the matter, don't carry a balance.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) For consideration to the HOF, writers will compare him to others at the same position for the same period. One other first baseman who has played in the same years as PK is Todd Helton of the Rockies. Not quite as many homers, more doubles, RBI's and hits, plus a career BA of .324. And a few gold gloves. Yet, Helton, if he quit today, would probably have no chance. If he plays two more years, gets his hit total up to 2600, he might have a chance, like PK if he has 2-3 more power years. Another guy on the edge is Chipper Jones. On the steroid subject brought up earlier, I would be interested in who other posters feel used HGH but did not get caught. Chipper is one of the greatest switch hitters to ever play the game. He's a first ballot HOF'er, imo, and was the best at his position for a long time. In regards to Paulie, if he hits 500HR's, he's in. I don't think of him as a HOF player, rather a really good player, ala Ventura/Mark Grace/etc, but that 500 plateau is special, especially since the only people that won't get in with that many HR's are gonna be the steroid guys. Outside of those players that were roiding up a ton, 500HR's still means a lot.
  15. I will be in attendance, cheering em on
  16. He's still around. I think he browses more than he posts. But he's one the site at some point almost every day.
  17. NP. I assume the new banner is showing up for everyone? With the "Paulie, Paulie, Paulie"?
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) Bulls - Boozer > Bulls + Boozer I don't agree with this at all. Bulls with a healthy Boozer are a much better team, imo.
  19. One other note, to do what I'm saying would be to play 19 game over .500 baseball from here on out. Which, I think is doable.
  20. I'm ok sitting Boozer if we think that will help him get better and able to play by/if we make it to the Heat. I think this team can beat Atlanta without Booze.
  21. I think it is still a possibliity. If the Sox can get to that point by the ASB, than I think with the way the season shapes up from there they should be in a position. We have tons of in divisional games in the 2nd half of the season and also play more road games in the first half of the season than I believe, any other team in baseball, so we should be in a position to pick up games in the 2nd half. If we can't get to that point by the break, than I'd say we are in trouble. Part of this is based upon my theory that Cleveland will fall back to earth and we have Detroit and Minny still close to us as well. So by and large, I think we might not see 90 wins even being the magic number in our division at this point. So if you can get to the break at .500 and than play 9 games or so over after that point, you'd be just fine. Lets do it Sox! Note: I want to fire some coaches!
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:29 AM) Russel Martin was non-tendered for a reason, the Dodgers didn't want to pay him arb-eligible amounts. He's making $4 million this year and the Yankees thought he was a backup when they signed him. Hell, the Dodgers were one of the teams supposedly in on AJ. And I would have been perfectly fine with AJ going away. AJ has been bad for a couple years now. Although I was ok with bringing him back, I've wanted an upgrade at catcher for a long time.
  23. I'm going to resort myself to begging: *Please, Please, Pretty Pretty Please, Can we win today and let it be the start of a great thing*
  24. Russel Martin is doing pretty good for the Yankees. And he's much better defensively than AJ. He was coming off two straight seasons with down power numbers, but he's much younger than AJ and pretty athletic.
