  1. It's hard to see another win on this schedule until we get the Angels in mid September; maybe the Giants - we usually play well in San Fran. Could break the record for longest losing streak. 7 and counting....
  2. It would have been interesting to see what Witt could do with Peralta's 89MPH heater; he may have just stook there in shock.
  3. What I really mean is that we have to find the prospects where the consensus is wrong (and also avoid the phony top prospects). I don't know if the Sox have the scouting chops to do that. But I just look at the Dodgers and last year their #1 was Cartaya: he's now #7. Last year their #12 was DePaula. He's now #2. Find the DePaulas and avoid the Cartayas. The Rays got their #4 for the rent of Glasnow; how hum, except that Pepiot has pitched like an ace. All easier said than done. But the Sox have to be smarter than the lists.
  4. Same basic lineup again Sheets in for Benitendi in the 2 hole, but it's Pham at leadoff then Robert at 3 then Vaughn then Eloy. It's worked to well in this 6 game losing streak, so why shake it up Pedro? Stick to the gameplan.
  5. It's just my opinion, but I don't think teams will give up a blue-chip prospect for Fedde. It's just my feeling based on what I've seen: we can start with we didn't get one for Cease (despite media reports that we were getting this massive offers). I think we'll get one, but it will be like pulling teeth, for Crochet or Robert. Which is why I think the Sox need to scout the living heck out of the 2nd and 3rd tier prospects for both talent and "makeup." (the latter of which the Sox have ignored at times to their detriment).
  6. Over slot for a 4 year college reliever who had no leverage. Weak draft and kind of a transition year due to NIL, but it looks like the draft team was just flummoxed.
  7. Walker’s defense is a plague. It’s hard to understand how someone who plays defense that poorly could ever be an elite MLB prospect, which he was at one time. The fans act like he’s still an untouchable. The Cardinals system doesn’t look particularly interesting. Still I think pretty much any team could put together a good package, since his trade won’t involve top-tier prospects.
  8. We’ll see. But it still strikes me that last year they punted only one round and still drafted a second round talent in the 7th round. This year they punt 5, arguably 6, rounds, despite the added flexibility from a larger bonus, pool and extra draft pick. If NIL going to send more highschoolers to college, and presumably keep college players in college longer, they better learn how to evaluate college hitters…. And take those senior signings more seriously.
  9. Yeah, if he’s striking out two or three times a game, he should be sent back down. But Ramos was striking out less than 20% of the time; he just needed to work on pitch recognition. Sosa’s OPS in July was over .700, and they sent him down. Contenders have starters hitting worse than that. He rakes AAA; is he really got my to learn anything more there? Now neither can play shortstop, which takes away some of the flexibility and is why I assume Nicky Lopez hasn’t been released. I’m just not sure what the overriding philosophy is.
  10. The Tigers are very close to being a contender. They can move him this time next year if things don’t work out next season. That could be this season. They’re not that far out of it now. The Pirates have an interesting young team. Can you imagine crochet on their pitching staff? #1 starting staff in the NL, perhaps in MLB.
  11. One thing that would make sense of it all is if they sign their #20 pick. Otherwise, if they use their full bonus pool, it means that they did a lot of reaching; they didn't draft anyone who whose talent really warranted being drafted earlier. I suspect that he did the uber punting because he wasn't sure what to expect from NIL and wanted to make sure he had sufficient cushion so as not to run out of money. But I always thought that the drafters know what a player's expectations are when they draft them.
  12. I like Cannon. he throws strikes. If he can improve command and hit corners, he could become a 3/4. Just keep working. He doesn't need any grousing from Pedro. Baldwin was probably rushed; but now that he's here, they just need to let him play and leave him alone. Hitting major league pitching is hard for anyone. No grousing, no sitting on the bench for extended days.
  13. IW to load the bases. Pedro is so dim. He's just a stupid person.
  14. I'm hoping Nacho is a Sox within the next 10 days.
  15. The article says that he is Considered to be at the top of the list. Not specific knowledge or some insider scoop.
  16. GreenSox replied to BamaDoc's topic in FutureSox Board
That’s fine. Stay disciplined in the approach, even when the results aren’t there. He doesn’t need the Moncada treatment and start getting a beat-down because of taking called third strikes. He’s got plenty of time to fine-tune his batting eye.
  17. Effing Grifol can't even make basic pitching changes. Gotta stick to that "gameplan."
  18. Second verse, same as the first. It couldn't be scripted any better.
  19. Has Getz has “that talk” With Pedro: that he will have to bench his “.300 hitter,” Nicky Lopez?
  20. That's true, but we really don't have a SS or CF or any OF either. Montgomery's likely going to move from what I've read. Even if he stays, he's just one guy. We're mostly pitchers. It's hard to see the greatness of the Dodgers system, especially if you are looking for positional players. There are probably some lower ranked international guys who can really play; I don't know that the Sox have the resources to evaluate those guys.
  21. The trouble is that there's nothing exceptional about Rushing as a 1B; if he hits like he as a catcher, yes, but as a 1B, no. The Dodgers are the beggars; Sox are the choosers. Or should be.
  22. I hope Bowden's wrong. I'll take 2 of Crawford/Miller/Caba as the main pieces.
  23. As long as Grifol is manager, that may be for the best. Don't need him screwing them up.
