2022 MLB catch all thread
Freaking Guardians got more out of trading Clevinger than the Sox did out of trading Sale.

Momentum or Big Tease?
They beat the Tigers. A neutral event.

Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion
My mistake - Sox sent them Call for some other bum...maybe one of the "friends of Machado" trades. We traded a pitcher who's still with them. As for Gonzalez, he was a top 12 prospect, at a position of need (both offensively and defensively); letting him go was just kind of typical.

Fire Rick Hahn
Lord help us. Haber is tethered to Hahn. First car out: Hahn, Haber, Menechino 2nd car: La Russa, Kenny Williams, Duncan (the guy running analytics) 3rd car: McEwing, Narron, Boston, Getz,

8/11- Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals - 1:10 PM CDT NBCSCH
Also because they'd have to eat $11 million to get rid of Leury; already have to eat $10 mill (+?) to dump Pollock.

This effing team...

Smoking some Colas cool-aid
The Braves brought up their starting CF Michael Harris II earlier this year straight from AA. But, oh no, we need Pollock.

Tigers fire Avila
He wasn't #1, but Hahn got 2 top 20 prospects. The trade was light on 2nd tier prospects. The Reds got 1 top 15 for Castillo who wasn't as good and signed for shorter term; also much stronger in 2nd tier prospects. Hopefully Kopech develops as a TOR starter There really hasn't be a long stretch in his tenure where Hahn couldn't have justifiably been fired; almost every year there's been at least 1 major avoidable gaffe.

8/9 Game Two - Vs. KC Because Why Not
Still, Martin is better than several of these bums. And Sosa is better than a lot of them. They need to start DFAing some non-performing geezers. LaRussa exacerbates it, but Hahn, Williams, Ozzie all liked the old guys.

Chris Sale?
Yea he does; Hahn likes them over the hill too; everybody has their soft-spots. I probably should take it it easy here. Sale is a hall-of-fame talent. It wouldn't be like signing an over-the-hill Darin Erstad.

Chris Sale?
The ongoing yearning for the declining, aged and infirmed is just weird.

Diagnosing the heart of the problem
The FO simply doesn't have the chops (skills, flexibility, creativity, energy) to develop a roster that would maximize efficiency (which is what platooning does).

2022 MLB catch all thread
Dodgers have several utter scrap-heap players that blossomed once they got their hands on them. 2 or 3 in the bullpen. They have quite the eye for pitching.

Menechino is movable
Aside from being full of ..., each of these footlongs that pops up is also a Hahn sycophant.

Fire Rick Hahn
The rebuild peaked in 2020. They could have beaten Oakland (in contrast Houston in 2021), and got Rickyed to some extent. Could have beaten anyone in the league. Since then, some downturn in performances and some atrocious Hahn moves (young for old is just a losing situation) and here we are. It looks like an old, tired team.

Long Term Contracts
I wouldn't. Takes away flexibility. Out with the old, in with the new.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
Braves are quite the opportunists. They get a solid starter from the Astros for a struggling reliever. And they get Iglesias from the Angels for basically nothing in terms of players but they do have a significant contractual obligation; but not terribly risky, as Iglesias has never had a bad season.

Worst Sox GM of all time
Did he, though? This article (in-depth) from yesteryear questions that proposition. http://blackbetsy.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html

Jackie Bradley Jr.
They could put Engel in RF every day. They certainly wouldn't sit Eloy or Robert (when he gets well) for Bradley.

Jackie Bradley Jr.
Sox have outfield defense. What they don’t have is outfield Defense they can hit outside of Robert. Bradley just adds to the weakness.

Fire Rick Hahn
Sox #7 in payroll - damn inefficient. would be closer to the Cardinals but for c. $29 mill on Pollock, Leury, VV and Joe Kelly. Unfortunately, c. $21 mill is guaranteed next season to those guys.

Fire Rick Hahn
Plenty of 22-24 year olds went in these deadline trades; Sox had prospects to trade outside of their top 6 or so,. That said, I'm glad they didn't.

Fire Rick Hahn
Just using the fangraphs ratings, the Sox equivalent would have been giving up someone like Yolbert for him. Hahn could have snagged one of these platoon lefty hitters, but I'm not sure he was looking for that. But I can't blame him for being measured for this .500 team. The debacle over the winter is another story (as are his many other debacles). A mediocre front office to begin with, and then LaRussa in the mix, ....we could have a real mess, that replacing only Hahn won't fix.
