I love comparing Garland and Erstad (the two who were basically traded for one another) almost all the time as players. Both are mediocre, both have and probably will, live off one GREAT season, then turn back to mediocre (good lookin contracts for both after that GREAT year) Been saying that ever since this season ever started (I wanted to look stupid as Garland proved me wrong, hasn't happened yet) And both are getting overrated quite a bit. (Erstad's D, Garland's potential)
  2. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) At least 2 out of 3?? Wow....little overconfident here are we chief? This Cardinal team is a very good ballclub with or without Albert They are a pretty good team, but I know everyone in their right minds know they are a completely different team when Pujols is in the line-up. That man is a beast. Completely changes a team's strategy or a game.. period.
  3. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) Exit Millwood, exit balance. I can't see how Cleveland didn't see that coming. I still don't believe they knew how much of a loss Coco Crisp was. He really got them going in that lead-off spot. Nothing against Micheals (or even Sizemore leading off) but that was a HUGE lost. Crisp-Sizemore-Blake would have killed us (and every other AL team) defensively.
  4. I wonder who is going to win the A.S. game this yer to set it up for the sox again...?
  5. Just copied this from knight's sig. About 3 months away from proclaiming Myself, Rowand, Greasy, and DBAH0 as geniuses. It ain't over yet, but it's looking good even though I didn't agree that the twins would win the WC. Sig bet with Rowand44 12/29/05: Finishing higher in the AL Central in '06: Rowand44 - Twins knightni - Indians Wanna side with me or Rowand44? PM me. Indians: knightni, 3E8, rangercal, ScottPodRulez22, TheBigHurt, chitownsportsfan, rventura23, Felix, Texsox, SoxFan1, santo=dorf, sayitaintso, Jordan4life_2006, TheDudeAbides, Steve9347 Twins: Rowand44, DBAH0, greasywheels121, SoxAce PS - He also thinks that the Twins will win the WC. I say they could get passed by Detroit and fall into 4th.

I'd tell ya what, I'll look nice seeing a nice young group of trio (Buehrle-McCarthy-Madson) for a long time. Add some vets like Count and Vazquez for a couple years, wait for a Broadway/Lumsden/McCulloch to develop and this team is really lookin good with or without Garland/Garcia. But I don't really want to look to the future too much.. Every sox fan should enjoy what we are seeing in our lives with this team, this century.

    QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) De Los Santos 2-4.
  9. The Reds' fans are seriously giving us props. They are praising our team for executing on the fundamentals and playing great D and always calling us the Champs. I like it.
  10. No Pujols=no problem..
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) Fixed. This is why I need to go back to school..
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) He hit a blast last year in interleague play. He's also been praised ALOT by Cleveland's ownership, some announcers around baseball and by C.C. himself. He could hit 2 times better than Dontrelle Willis/ Mike Hampton which is saying something. He is that good.
  13. Garland's era went from 6.01 to 5.58 (-.59) lower thanks to this outing.
  14. If Mariotti is a hineybird, what nick-name should this guy be?
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) I sort of wonder sometimes whether or not there might be a couple of pitchers in the AL who might be able to hold together a .250 average if they were given the chance to hit every now and again. I'll tell you one cat... C.C. Sabathia is a hell of a hitter. FWIW.
  16. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) It was a rough game to watch with my two favorite teams facing each other Felt that same way when The U.S. faced Mexico. Very, Very hard to watch.

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Pablo has 1 career home run, i love the guy, but he\'ll never hit for a cycle. With his speed, he could get lucky and have a ball hit a part of a pole or something, then see it bounce around and he can get an inside-the-park homerun. If Konerko can do it, anyone can do it.
  18. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) no crede Or BA... I'm very surprised Widger isn't starting considering he caught Garland his last start when Garland pitched pretty well.
  19. Anyone know if the hot bats (Anderson, Uribe) are starting? I know Thome is today.
  20. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) But that's a great hitter, isn't it Victor Martinez? Whoa.. don't compare a .293 career hitter to a .258 career hitter ever again. Victor can go hot and cold, but not like Uribe.
  21. A very streaky hitter no doubt. Could hit like .400 in a month and then the next hit like .100. That's one negative that I would like him to at least work at. Try to be semi-consistant in each month. He gets in major hot and major cold streaks.
  22. Ozzie made a similar move in the W.S. in case you didnt remember. (it wasn't the CF position, but you know what I mean.. He's been in the NL before as a coach and was around some of the best managers around so he knows how that works.
  23. Well usually I don't post many threads but I just had to give major props to the bottom of the order. It seems they really are starting to produce some offense. (besides the "D") I'm just going to say basically Uribe and Anderson since we are playing NL teams right now and AJ and Crede were already producing offensively. Brian Anderson's Stats (also at the bottom of my sig line) Stats last six games hes played: H-7 ABs-23 (AVG-.304) R-4 HR-1 RBI-4 BB-3 SO-3 OBP-.385 Juan Uribe's stats (He is really getting hot, so expect him to carry this team for a while like DJ said today) Last five games hes played: H-8 ABs-22 (AVG-.364) R-6 HR-2 RBI-6 BB-0 SO-2 OBP-.364 Usually I would like to see how this is during a 10 game stretch, then bulid on that, but right now both are basically half-way to ten games and are both looking really good especially because the drop off from the top of the order in Pods and Iguchi (not counting the incredible Pablo Ozuna) Every player is going to have his struggles, especially during a particular order (3-4-5, 6-7 still haven't quite yet) and it's up to others to kinda carry the team besides the pitching and defense. I don't know if it's the NL that's helping (even though we've only played 2 games now) or if some of these guys are starting to see the ball better, but ever it is... I'm liking the results. Like I said, I'm not going to get carried away cause I got basically six games to back me up, but that's six games of producing that we haven't seen at all this season for the sox. Just thought I'd throw this out there.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) Perhaps it's time to bring back the Rancid sig. I'll take your sig then..
