2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) For being an awful GM, that franchise keeps producing a ridiculous amount of young talent. Ya. Completely sucking for 4 years and being able to draft Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner and Posey had nothing to do with it. And where is this young talent your finding? Other than Kung Fu Panda (who they signed as a 17 year old) and the others mentioned, everyone else on that team other than Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford (who aren't even regulars and who I wouldn't consider studs like those mentioned) are 28 and older (unless you consider 28 "young"). Now I will say this. SF does have a very good scouting department (had a good one for a while), and even with high picks like they've had, you still have to make the right decisions and they have done that. (unless you trade a young talent like Liriano away at the time like that one GM's name that is slipping my mind right now did....)

2011 Minor League Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 07:03 AM) Considering the shape of the Twins, he could certainly get some run at the MLB level too. You watch your mouth boy.

2011 Minor League Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) Jeremy Reed is now a member of the Twins organization. It's going to be okay, Gerry. Just when I'm good with him leaving, he just had to come back to my team's division...

6/1 games
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 08:09 AM) If he can keep up that ratio AND his power surge isn't a fluke, he could be a starter at he ML level when you consider his defensive abilities. Already 9 in 190 PA. Had 8 in 502 PA all of last season.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 06:50 AM) We'll see. I think it's fairly silly to completely shut down someone before they've even played in the NBA, especially when they have the type of court vision that Rubio is said to have. That being said, he obviously has a lot of work to do, but it's not like improving a jump shot is this never done before point of refinement. He's still absurdly young and he hasn't even played a minute in the NBA. Give him some time before lumping him in with the rest of our roster and saying he sucks. You guys really need to get rid of your head coach with Rubio in the mix now. Him in the triangle offense is just terrible for his development.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) Monte Ellis an an option? http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2011...e-guy-to-do-it/ I honestly hope the Warriors trade Ellis and give the keys to Curry. (who IMO is very underrated as a playmaker and a very good ball handler) Would only help that franchise going forward, especially trading Ellis at his highest value. (though I am not a fan of his at all as a player, though a great scorer) Then again, I think very highly of Curry, more-so than just an undersized two guard who can play the one.

Wow, Humber. You fo' realz?
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) He looks like a one year wonder to me too and I was actually semi-optimistic about him going into the season. So was I. And no he isn't the same stud he was at Rice forming the big 3, but neither was Floyd when he was so highly touted pitching at Lakewood. (one lost velocity on his fastball, but gained movement - Floyd, the other had TJ and gained more velocity on his fastball, but lost movement - Humber) Only seen one of his starts, but just my opinion on following him (and the other big 2).

5/31 Games
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:12 AM) Reed with 2 perfect innings, 3 K. Now has a 10:1 K:BB. Siiiiiick. I think he's going to quickly move up the system this year. He'll probably be in B-Ham in a month or two. and I love Flowers having himself a good stretch like this.

Question about archived threads
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Do you want the pre-discussion thread or the actual day 1 draft thread? I'll assume the latter. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77853 Ha, I guess I really did like Chris Sale that year. (loved Beckham and was "meh" on Mitchell in their draft years)

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 29, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) i am, he was good there but he wasnt committed on the defensive end until he got to boston. imo he became a much more complete player in boston, and it has made him look like a much better player in boston. He is still bad defensively, but at least he's passable in their scheme. (though you can thank that to Thibs when he was there)

6 man rotation
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 30, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) So how is this Danks debacle affecting his future with the White Sox and/or this huge FA contract he was bound to sign in the offseason. I hope it affects it greatly on the sox side. I still want this guy re-signed (though I am a big Danks fan, believe he has the most upside/potential on our rotation) and I hope the lack of wins and "meh" ERA helps KW.

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
QUOTE (knightni @ May 28, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) I'd rather lose and rebuild the minors. At least then the downers will have a better reason to complain after every loss. I don't think anyone should trust this organization to draft and develop properly (other than pitchers at times) anyways.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Yeah, our two worst players going in have been two of our best. And this team still blows. Nah, Pierre still sucks.
