  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Hmm, Ariza would have looked nice on the Bulls. I'd rather have him over Brewer/Korver and he makes a similar amount of money. Courtney Lee would of been the much better fit. I'm personally high on him, though he is a system guy. Indiana has a nice little team/future now with a legitimate young, solid PG. In fact.. I would label this as an amazing trade for them.
  2. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) While chw42 brings up a good point, this is actually an interesting question. Will Freddy fall off the table because his body is no longer used to the full-season grind? This. I had to do a double take to make sure it was Greg who started the thread. Nice thread Greg. I remember the sox brass saying they are going to take it easy with Freddy with the innings pitched. People have to remember Freddy has not thrown this many innings in 4 years. He has already doubled his overall innings pitched from last season. Now this start was just an off night for Freddy, but in the future, I'm sure the sox will probably keep an eye on him more closely.
  3. Capgeek says the Hawks re-signed Nick Boynton. 500K, 1 yr deal.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) But we all assumed he would be replaced by a major league bat and not Mark Kotsay. This. I remember that "99 percent" was much, much lower around late December/early January when Ozzie was saying 'rotate DH' after Kotsay re-signed and Jones was signed. That was when most of the posters wanted Jim back. (unless we got Damon or any other solid bat) Ozzie falls in love way too much on sample sizes.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) The last two years, Rios stole 56 bases and was caught 13 times. This year, he'd matched that total of caught stealing and only has 24 steals. I keep telling people don't get me started on Ozzie's base running efficiency/tactics. He's got more speed than in years past.. and he still isn't using guys right. (whether that is a specific pitch, a specific count, hit and run or lack there of, etc... and on running counts, he doesn't run with the guys) If Pierre wasn't very good at sliding when he steals avoiding tags, that CS would be much worse.
  6. The thing is it is a good idea............. when you have better hitters to rotate with. Thats what Ozzie doesn't get. We got real lucky Vizquel is hitting the way he is at age 43.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) And what do you know? A fight breaks out... Cueto was kicking people with his spikes. He'll surely get in trouble. Yea.. knew it was gonna happen (thought Phillips would get plunked first) but didn't think it would be a shouting match between him and Molina... and in the first inning none-the-less.
  8. Brandon Short already has 6 walks in August (24 ABs). Other than June (9 BBs, 104 ABs) he's never had more than 5 in a month. Rienzo was solid again. Spatola was 2-4, 2B, R in his Kanny debut. Hollis was damn good in relief.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Brandon Phillips with a Torii Hunter/Orlando Hudson moment. Am I missing something? I don't think he said anything about the 'race' card in there. His comments were more that of his own teammate.. Joey Votto... except Votto hates the Cubs much more than the Cards. (Phillips is the opposite)
  10. Haven't been in about 4-5 years, but prior to that, it was a tradition for my uncle and I when I was a kid. Always went to Michigan or Ohio to fish with my uncle and his friends. I know how to fish, but have not done so in years, so it'll probably be like riding a bike again. I can name a few lakes I've personally liked to fish in.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Let Putz allow like... 3 times as many runs as he does and then he'll have earned the treatment Jenks gets when he does it. With Putz right now it's "oh s***," with Jenks it's "oh no, not again!" Not to mention Putz road era going into that at-bat... 0.00. That's right... 0.00 era on the road. How anyone can question that decision is absurd.
  12. Clap, clap, clap, clap clap.... clap clap Sal-a-dino! Justin Collop has been much better prior to his first two months.
  13. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) Nah, it's not CM Punk. It's one of the Nexus guys, but I can't remember who. No, that was his name on the I Love New York show.. Punk. He is engaged to Jennifer Hudson. I believe that is the same guy. EDIT: Ya I googled him. same guy, just used his real name as a wrestler name.
  14. Man Konerko nearly cost us the game, then redeemed himself nicely. Baseball... I love this game.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) Do you think that the "b**** ain't one"? His wife ain't one. Thats for sure.
  16. Meant to post this last Monday, but I can't believe that guy from I Love New York (aka Jennifer Hudson's fiancee) is a wrestler now. I think his name was Punk. Might still be as a wrestler name, but found that hilarious.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) Pierre LF Ramirez SS Rios CF Konerko 1B Quentin DH AJ C Viciedo 3B Jones RF Lillibridge 2B Jackson P I know its a lefty... but I almost fainted when I didn't see Kotsays name in the lineup.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) But wow! I just saw the highlights. That was pure dominance. Scherzer's 14 K game in 5 2/3 innings against the A's, Strasburg's first game against the Pirates and Morrow's gem yesterday are pretty much the 3 best single-game pitching performances in baseball this year. Morrow's performance was the 5th best single game performance since 1920. 9 innings, 17 SO?! That was amazing. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) It's not. There were 6 in 1990. Also 5 in '91. So the most no-nos in a season in almost 20 years. If this continues for the next couple of years, then it's dead. Until then, I don't see how it is. Agreed.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 03:28 AM) If I had to guess, Sale will be starting 2011 in AAA or AA, while they try to work on his wildness. Kid walked 14(!!!) people in 103 innings in college (1.2 BB per 9) just this year. He pitched only 10.1 innings in the minors with a ridiculous 19:6 SO/BB rate pitching as a reliever which he is not used to, not to mention going straight from A+ to AAA (which is understandable of a bit of 'wildness'). He might have some flaws, but wild isn't one of them. I agree however there is no chance he sniffs the rotation before the 2011 season, if at all (unless there is alot of injuries in the rotation or if he is just dominating people that forces the sox hand) I think he starts in A+ or AA in the rotation next season. If he starts in AA, that'll further help my prediction to JPN about the Barons being good again in 2011.
  20. I keep f***ing missing this show. Last two I've missed cause I always forget it is on every Sundays. God dammit!
  21. Gartrell flexing his muscles in AAA. Hit his 24th homer. Has a .965 OPS versus lefties. Escobar last 10 games: .325/.357/.475 /.832. Already has 2 homers in 95 ABs in AA (3 in 368 Abs in A+) Fathom's boy was 4-4 tonight. Stephen McCray pitched a perfect 6 innings, but was replaced... Bristol was awful against Boyce tonight.
  22. Badge, you are one of the last posters here I want gone (especially to one of the original guys). But at the same time, I'm not gonna beg you. Just do what you want to do. That said, we need those posters on this site that add solid arguments. As much as people rip Greg, I think he is actually a poster who keeps arguments/discussion (usually not smart, but 'discussion' nonetheless) key.
