I've slowed down on Insanity alot. Missed a couple days this week (I'm sure you know Rock anything dealing with MAX is f***ing hard!) I'll do Max Plyo in a little bit here and perhaps workout twice tomorrow to make up for some lost time.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 03:11 AM) Somehow after a year at southern illinois ive become such a lightweight, and I actually am happy about it... getting drunk with less alcohol is a good thing...... i typed this message with my eyles closed because it made me less dizzy. Don't worry. I'm not the same "freak" (as my friends like to call me) like I was a couple of years ago either when I drank. I don't drink as often, and I lost a ton of weight as well. Sad when most of your friends can now hang better than you.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) Makes Beckham's season-long suckfest even more discombobulating. Just remember when Beckham was called up last year he was sexy up here too. The ol' "sophomore slump" is where we will see if Posey can handle.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) Brentz would be a very good pick, but it just seems so likely that the Sox will take a college starting pitcher. I keep trying to convince myself the sox might take the best player available, if that is a position player, but I keep going back to college pitcher they would take. Still not a doubt in my mind we are going that route.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) I decided to watch the game. Hope springs eternal Your a better fan than I am man. Ima watch a couple of innings, but Ace is goin out tonight and hittin the bars! -
There is absolutely no reason at all for Lucy to ever be a starting catcher in the big leagues. None. In fact.. I didn't even bother posting in that thread on pale hose about it cause I would think some posters would have the sense not to think that way. People should not let a sample size effect their judgment.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!

Someone brought up an interesting stat. Every game 4 winner, since the lockout, has won the Stanley Cup. (Flyers just won game 4) -
HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Ya brutal game to watch though you have to admire the comeback by us. Boynton played instead of Hendry (figured that was gonna happen cause of the last game) and was a -1. Kane.. yikes. Sometimes the media can piss you off. They were really giving it to Hjammarsson on some bad breaks. I look for him to rebound the most for game 5 personally. I think this is going all the way to 7 games. -
QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:08 AM) Nobody wants Jake! That North of 6 ERA isn't too sexy. Some of you are crazy. I don't think a couple of months of bad Peavy would scare off many NL teams personally, especially with his NL track record.

Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) What? QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) Make that a double what? Maybe caulfield was saying if we didn't do any of those moves, Joey Cora wouldn't have been stupid enough to put Mitchell in LF as a defensive replacement, playing out of his usual position, in a spring training game and he would be healthy now raking or something. -
Wow... looks like Tom Thibodeau will get an offer to be our new head coach. (and I would like to say he should have been hired 2 years ago, but then again.. this is our organization) Good call by DBAH0 advocating this for two years for us as well. I like Thibs, and a big rumor (hope it is true) that Mo Cheeks might join us as an assistant (and Ron Adams... careful Joakim...) as well. (which can only help Rose and who was my 1st choice for weeks before Thibo-mania stepped in) Also remember... Thibs recently joined WWW which has that other big name FA who shares the same agency... hmmmm... LINK. more at link...

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) I heard my dad use the phrase "cool beans" twice in the same convo when on a conference call once.. I thought that was just a hispanic thing. Couple of my friends and their fathers say it all the time, but they are all hispanic. (hell I'm half hispanic and I don't even say it THAT much)

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) Grandal? Where did the hell did this come from? I think he's a stud. I just never thought he'd be on the Sox radar. Would drafting him speak volumes negatively towards the long-term future of Flowers? They could always move Flowers to 1B/DH, but I don't know/think if his bat would translate, but then again.. this is our org. so it isn't THAT much in question, but right now Flowers has some issues he (and the org.) need to fix. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) IMO, yes. Phegley as well. Phegley's future is already in question with or without the Grandal pick.

Fun stat of the day. The sox are 7-0 when Andruw Jones homers in a game. (according to Hawk since they were 6-0 before yesterday's win)
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Wow, I hadn't even seen the draft rumbling about Grandal. That's great news if true. Reds are a threat to take Grandal, but I have a feeling they'll look at pitching. They took a catcher high in the draft a few years ago that's playing better (Morasco, I believe his name is). The Reds have had some iffy drafts lately, but I don't think they will take a pitcher. I pretty much think Chapman was their 1st round pick pretty much this off-season (similar to what many thought Viciedo was for us) and they have a solid core of young arms currently. They can get greedy however and like I said before, some of their picks were pretty much questioned by alot of people. I still think they would be smart to take a position player. (Colon, for example, would look awfully good for them going forward)
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) What the heck? When it comes to the draft, I'm much more optimistic. I was all over Beckham and Mitchell the last two seasons, in a good way. I'll back you too fathom even though I know J4L already did. Me, fathom and DBAH0 were all over the Beckham bandwagon. I didn't want Mitchell as much however. And yes I was a big Brothers fan in the later rounds, and really, really wanted Tim Melville. Now I'm with Jason on the Gary Brown bandwagon as a supp. pick or if he falls to the second/third round as well as Shipers, Tillman and Guy.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) Cleveland again???? They are our kryptonite. (like Pittsburgh is to the Cubs)
-
To me it just figures that him retiring was again overshadowed by something. Most of his career (especially in the steroid era) was overshadowed cause of the steroid era (same as Frank), now the day he retires... overshadowed by a non perfect game blown call. Such a shame he couldn't win a ring.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) I forgot where I read the comparison, but Josh Hamilton is a really good comparison. I envision something similar to Hamilton's 08 for Harper except more K's, more power, less average, and more of a pull hitter. Kind of like if Ryan Howard and Josh Hamilton had a son. If he is anything like Hamilton and Howard (or a cross mix) he will be an all-star, especially if he sticks at catcher. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Harper was ejected from a game at the JUCO world series yesterday for arguing a strike call. Juco rules state that if a player is ejected twice during a season, he's suspended for two games. Since Harper was ejected earlier this year, he sits two games, and his juco career might be over. If there is one down side to Harper since high school, it has always been his temper. Hopefully for the Nats sake he matures alot over the minor league level, cause he will get alot of calls (hitting and catching for his pitcher) that he will not like.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) He won't be there, unless he beats out Rios. We will only get one all star. I haven't followed how all the closers are doing in the AL, but if it's like every other year where there are 4-5 good ones Thornton again has no chance. Agreed. Rios should and probably will be our only star rep.

I had Lakers in 6 going into this series. As J4L said, if this is what the Celtics really are gonna do, it will probably be over alot faster than many think. Lakers still have those younger legs. Hell, Bynum and his half shredded knee has more hops than Garnett right now. EDIT: Kobe's face is hilarious...

It is a damn shame Marrero isn't hitting for average for the Barons. He has been really damn impressive with his plate discipline. Would have been up in AAA a while ago if he was hitting at least in the .280s. Good thing about Morel is he hasn't K'd once in 6 ABs in AAA. (which is usual for most of our top prospect position players not named Gordon Beckham who only had 2 I believe in 28+ ABs)

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) pins in Teahen's finger?? damn, didn't realize it was that bad. out 6 weeks. Add Trayce Thompson getting 4 pins on his right thumb when he gets surgery (luckally he won't be out the season) to the other injuries and this is shaping up to be a terrific season for the sox organization.
