**Official Madden 2007 Thread**
This might be a dumb question...but is Madden '07 gonna be analog controlled for PS2? I really haven't played Madden that much since like 2004. I hate the analogs. You should be able to use the d-pad.

The Dodgers are easily the second best team in the NL. I'd actually pick them if they ended up playing the Mets.

Best MLB teams
The '98 Yankees are by far and away the best team of the last 25 years, IMO. 2) '84 Tigers 3) '95 Braves 4) '89 Athletics 5) '05 White Sox

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
Good article by Mike Bauman from MLB.COM today. I'll post a few parts of it. http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/n...s&fext=.jsp That's the whole article. Anyway, it just kinda goes over what most of us have been thinking all year. There's absolutely no denying the Tigers are good. They're VERY good. The real test for them is coming, though. We Sox fans saw this exact same movie with our guys last year. We obviously know how that turned out. It's gonna be a very interesting final 6 weeks.

Root for Boston or Detroit?
QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) I'm surprised. Clearly I'm in the vast minority here but I root for Detroit. I know it's nice to say "division champs" but to me the most important thing is making the playoffs. We have a great shot at Detroit but when it comes to the wildcard we control our destiny. We are ahead of Boston and the more space we put between us, the closer we are to guaranteeing the PLAYOFFS which is the important thing. Now that Liriano is done, Minny doesn't scare me, so Boston is the primary wildcard contender. If we sweep KC (which I expect) and Detroit sweeps Boston, we'll be 5 up in the wildcard. That's a good way to look at it. I see your point. It's just my opinion that you always shoot for the division.

in need of advice
QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) Alright so I've been seeing this girl for almost 6 months and i learn last night that she's probably going to break up with me very soon. The weird thing is we have been through this before, we went out for 2 months, broke up, she figured out she liked me again and here we are again on the brink again or whatever. I mean I know I wont be with her forever, I just wanted to stay with her throughout high school before I go to college. She says she dosnt see me as the boyfriend type anymore all the sudden, same thing happened last time. The thing is I still have serious feelings for her and feel that maybe eventually over time I could love this girl. I can't stand the thought of not being with her and somebody else even having the chance to. Heck even my parents adore her. I've pretty much given everything shes ever asked for but I guess sometimes its not enough. She will still want to be great friends and everything but I'm a pretty greedy guy and that just dosnt seem good enough for me. On the phone tonight were supposed to talk and I dont know if she plans on breaking up tonight or not, but I know its supposed to be very soon. If someone could give me some advice on what to say, what not to say, and just maybe someway to save our relationship would be very much appreciated. Thanks PS- i really wanna try to save this relationship with her if I somehow can. but let me have it i suppose. Sorry to be blunt -- but let that b.i.t.c.h go. Sorry, I gave very low tolerance for girls that play games.

8/14 @ 7:05 PM Game Thread
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) Cannot overlook this series or letdown. Indeed. This is a scary series from the standpoint that we've just come off a 5-1 record against argubly the two best teams in the AL. It would be natural for the intensity to slip a little against the Royals. I'm praying that's not the case. Anything less than 3 of 4 would be really bad.

Root for Boston or Detroit?
This is a no-lose situation if we take care of our own business. I'll be cheering for the Red Sox. I want the division.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
So these are the White Sox we've waited for all year? Better late than never. This was an absolutely flaweless series against the best team (record wise) in baseball. Pitching, defense, clutch hitting -- all superb. For all the crap Freddy has gotten this year (some of it deserved), he's been pretty good of late. He was locating very well today -- especially after the Casey double. I guess he can get by with his average fastball as long as he locates.

Reggie Bush
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:47 AM) I wouldn't go that far. It's gonna be close. Bush is special. And I don't mean Ron Santo special.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Has anyone seen The Descent? One of the best horror movies, if not the best, of all-time. It's right up there with Jaws, Deliverance and Alien. I saw it. I liked it for the most part. I didn't like how the monsters or whatever they were got their asses kicked by women, though.

Stewart, Owens Likely Callups in Sept.
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) Just don't use Boone against Hafner. Hafner isn't ready for the 'new' Boone Logan (sarcasm).
-
Dye V Maggs
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) Who would they be? Definitely Pujols and Big Sloppy. I have to really think hard after that. Ryan Howard is another guy. Travis Hafner? But he doesn't have anywhere near the amount of clutch hits Dye has.

8/12 @ 1:05 PM Game Thread
For the love of god can we just sweep a team.
-
Dye V Maggs
I'll always be a Magglio fan. I'm not one to dismiss a guy because he doesn't happen to play for my team anymore. But there's only 4 or 5 players in all of baseball, IMO, that have been better than Dye this year. Maggs is not one of them.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Sadly, Mackowiak will almost certainly wind up starting in CF tomorrow. You just killed my buzz. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Did Uribe screw up the DP ball, or did PK just come off the bag? I decided to listen on the radio while in the pool, and Farmer made it sound like it was PK's fault. That was all Uribe. Farmer is an idiot if he blamed it on PK.

We win tomorrow and we win this division
QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) where's the guy that predicted we'd go like 60-12 after the ASB? That was hilarious. I believe Poppy was banned.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Game ball for BA today. Big two out hit. Lock him in at center and play 100% of the games down the stretch. He made a couple of nice plays in center today, too. He makes it look sooooo easy.

We win tomorrow and we win this division
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) With them heading to Boston and us hosting KC for 4 games....hence tomorrow is HUGE. Every game is huge. I'm just not gonna go overboard. I knew Detroit was gonna hit a wall at some point. It certainly doesn't mean they're gonna collapse. I hope they do, of course.

We win tomorrow and we win this division
All winning tomorrow does is cut the deficit to 5 1/2 games.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Other than the clutch hit by Anderson, we didn't do much of anything to deserve a win today. BUT I'LL TAKE IT, now finish the damn sweep tomorrow for once and we'll be at 70 wins and be back in this race (somehow). Really? I think we pitched pretty well. Sandy's clutch sac fly has to count as something, too.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
What a game. We're startin' to get those breaks again. I almost felt bad for Rogers out there. His defense straight molested him today. Buehrle was brilliant. If not for Uribe, Buehrle probably throws a complete game shutout. He was that good. And how 'bout that Brian Anderson? God I love him.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
So this is how we look when we pitch, defend and get timely hits? I like it. Now let's do this more often. Jose was flat brilliant. It was around this time last year that he went on his second-half tear. I think he's primed to go on another one.
