  1. Just read that one of the confirmed dead was an 8-year old kid. But like Duke said, not THAT big a deal.
  2. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) Why? Why cant I point out the real truth here? If two teenagers wrapped a V6 Mustang around a tree and got themselves killed it wouldn't get this attention, if two 10 year olds in the cancer ward passed on the same day it wouldn't even make the news. But a couple bombs go off with similar results and we cant help but be enamored by it. I generally wouldn't care about people's reaction to this, but I think it carries a price to immerse yourself so much in these stories. We get scared and we want something to be done to make us feel more secure. So because the first two Americans to be killed by a bomb in this country since I-dont-even-know-its-been-so-long an entire city is on lockdown and people have found a whole new reason to be scared to live their lives. That's really all I wanted to say, I think someone should say it. I've seen the light now. I will stop following this story. #BackToKimKardashianBabybumpArticles
  3. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) Well yea, two of them shared the same date on purpose (Waco and OKC). I will say this, its sad that this happened but people just seem so desperate for something to be scared of or to be sad about. Two people are dead. That's about the same number of Americans that died in ways completely unrelated to this bombing in the time it took me to write this post. We cant get worked up over it. This isn't 9/11, this isn't Oklahoma City, this is not some overwhelming tragedy that should grip the nation the way it is right now. Our lives really are short and fragile, s*** like this kinda goes to prove it, so why do we ruin them being afraid of things that have an almost 0% chance of affecting us directly? I dont know. I dont get it. Hope the injured people wind up OK and they catch the guy who did it. Dude, stfu.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 09:52 AM) I'm not going to get caught up in sample sizes. He was pretty awful the last three months of last year. I'm sorry. Fans panicking when Dunn struggles is completely justified.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) And I was one of them. I'm just sick of the results of his plate appearances. Negatives are far outweighing the positives. He's our punishment for mocking the Cubs for the Soriano debacle all these years. I can't stomach another '11. It's still damn early. But a month from now and he's still sucking ass? Yes. Something must be done.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 14, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Braves/Washington is going to be a fun race. Braves making a statement. Two best teams in baseball as far as I'm concerned.
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 12:57 AM) I know the title of the thread paints me as a cheerleader but after being in the game thread and reading some really outlandish comments I had to say something. It's just a lighthearted attempt to say it's early. Hardly a word was said about Quintana's performance which was exemplary. Nothing at all wrong with this thread.
  8. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 01:17 AM) He'll be back before Rose. This is probably correct.
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 12:18 AM) WOW Lakers PR team saying Kobe Bryant suffered a probable torn Achilles in tonight’s game. He’ll have a MRI tomorrow to confirm. Terrible if true. I was on lakerground.net and word is Kobe was crying in the locker room. This could very well be a career-ender. Laker fans comparing this to when Magic announced he had HIV. lol. It's not THAT bad. But yeah. This sucks. If anybody could come back from this it would be Kobe. But dude came into the league when Super Nintendo was hot. So many miles on that body. Truly horrible to see the second greatest 2-guard the game has ever seen and a no f***ing doubt about it top 6-8 player of all time career end like this.
  10. Holy s*** you guys are making a big deal about this. Take it to fili!
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 08:24 AM) I don't agree that the NL has caught up at all. You have your cream - Washington, Atlanta, Cincinnati, St. Louis, San Francisco, LA, and you can throw Arizona in there as well - but the Phillies are nothing more than a .500 team, the Mets are SCRAPPY but not a talented bunch, the Marlins are one of the two worst teams in baseball, the Pirates are going to be .500 or worse, the Brewers are mediocre, the Cubs are terrible, the Rockies are terrible (even if they've played well to open the year), and the Padres are not very good. I'd say Philadelphia is probably at the top of the best of the worst, and I would say only Minnesota and Houston are definitively worse than them. Ok, and the entire al central division sucks outside of one team. There's only one sure thing in the east, and I feel that's tampa. I'm not sold on toronto at all. Yankees and red Sox aren't what they once were. Still not sure what the O's are. In the west, the angels should be good (thought that last year, though), texas has slipped some, the mariners suck. The a's, like the o's, are another team I can't figure out. But I wouldn't put either in the top 5 in the NL. I'm sorry. The gap has closed significantly.
  12. Thoughts? Um, the Nationals are significantly better in every aspect. I think the days of the Sox getting fat off the nl (not sure what their interleague record the last two years is, but prior to '11 they feasted) are over. The nl has caught up big time. I don't feel crazy when I say the top 5 teams in baseball could all be in the NL.
  13. So that's what happened to Kalapse. Mark Buehrle ate him. I don't know if it's me or the fact I haven't seen him in a while, but Mark is looking rather hefty.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 09:49 PM) I still don't know if I got 60 days for what I said in filibuster or a regular sports thread. I tend to be pretty fired up in filibuster. 60 days? For what?
  15. I want the White Sox payroll sheet back. What happened to Kalapse? I'm going to give it another week before I add him to the insert dead celebrity thread.
  16. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Am I the only one who thinks that calling Rose (or anyone for that matter) a vagina is really really insulting to women? Pretty much.
  17. This is such a good idea I might just get myself banned on purpose just to see what it looks like. 30 seconds in filibuster (the worst sub-forum in message board history) and I'm pretty much done
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) A source close to the situation in Chicago told HOOPSWORLD earlier this week that Rose seems to be completely healthy. He’s practicing just like he did before the injury and is not showing any signs of weakness with the surgically repaired leg. In fact, the source said a lot of people around the team are scratching their heads, wondering what’s keeping Rose from returning for a tune up before the playoffs. Rose has made mention that he isn’t entirely comfortable dunking off of the leg just yet, and there has been some talk about his hamstrings being a little sore, but otherwise the former MVP looks like he could step on the court tomorrow and push his team from first round fodder to possible contenders. Read more at http://hoopshype.com/archive/rumors/2013/r...piRcdXRwUt82.99 That ship has long sailed. There's no way in hell you could expect anybody, even prime MJ, to come back after nearly a year and recapture his former glory in 6 f***ing games before going right to the playoffs. That's a f***ing ridiculous expectation.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) goodbye Well, it was fun knowing hitman. It isnt often that you meet a crazy person on soxtalk. Well, maybe not. That dude was more paranoid than I was after I tried salvia once and refused to drink any beer because I thought it was acid. Like legit acid that melts your skin away. Not the other acid.
  20. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) John Lackey making his first start after Tommy John surgery blew out his arm again. I hope Rose doesn't get wind of this. He's so mentally fragile that even serious injuries in other sports could spook him.
  21. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) Beno Udrih? Your roster, as well as this game, are very hard on my eyes. Switched over to the Knicks. Carmelo is on some s*** of late. 50, 40, 41 the last three nights.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) I don't want the Nationals to be 6-0 when the Sox play them on Tuesday. So sue me. Things bother you too much. It doesn't bother me at all. It just makes no damn sense whatsoever. But you got your wish. The Nationals will have lost at least one game before we see them. There shall be no story!
  23. Huge blow for the Nuggets. Danilo Gallinari out for the year with a torn acl. This is an even bigger blow for the Bulls. You know Rose saw that s***. I fully expect him to sit out 2014 now.
