  1. I can't imagine keeping Yaz and optioning Lee when Seby comes back. Who cares if it's Seby and Lee the rest of the way? Of course, they could have a mule in the front office right now just stomping it's hoof to make decisions. "Okay, should we bring Lee up? Once for yes, twice for no." *One stomp* "Alright. Send down Perez, one stomp. DFA Yaz, two stomps." *One stomp* "Are you sure?" *Blank stare* "I mean, is there a reason to keep Yaz? He's -" *Stomps wildly while hee-hawing loudly* "Okay! Okay!"
  2. Yeah, please. I understand Getz being the top internal candidate because, who else? It is refreshing to see someone other than Boob saying something. Probably no more than speculation/guessing from Morosi, but at least it's something.
  3. Waiting for a national reporter to say something about the head of baseball ops search beginning for the Sox. No one else has said a word except Bruce Levine saying Getz would remain in his role. But that was yesterday...and it's Bruce Levine who can't even be bothered to type the "ite" in White Sox in his posts.
  4. https://x.com/ryanmcguffey/status/1694362900830224570?s=46&t=CmXau5C6XZLEE5q5OJlG4A Take this FWIW
  5. The way JR uses Boob, this could be a "leak" to test the response. I doubt it, but I'm clinging to hope that this is bad information.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if the team is sold, but within the next 2-4 years seems like a more likely timeline. You have to figure there are always buyers sniffing around multiple MLB teams. If JR is truly thinking about selling, someone may come along with a stupid offer and speed up the process.
  7. If they do the Getz/Moore hirings, it'll be a big disappointment. But, no matter who they put in the role(s), moving on from TA and Moncada and maybe even Jimenez will be a nice step forward. The right decisions in the off season could make this team look drastically different and hopefully much better. Regardless, 2024 looks like a let the kids play season.
  8. I'm going to hold onto a slim hope that this is just Bob being Bob. If we don't hear anything official regarding Getz or Moore in the next couple of weeks, it might be a better sign. It just seems like they would have announced the promotion of Getz along with the canning of KW and Hahn.
  9. New GM's first order of business - Sign Ohtani.
  10. I was dozing in my recliner with the news on in the background. I had a "procedure" earlier that day (I just turned 50...), and I was taking it easy. I awoke from my doze with a text from my son telling me the news. I was wide awake at that point and immediately jumped online.
  11. I think we'll get a pretty clear picture of the future of the team with the hire of the "one decision maker." If JR hires someone with experience who, if given free reign, could turn the franchise around, it could be an indication of JR wanting one last push before he sells...or hoping to increase the value of the team for a sale. If he hires internally, that could be an indication of nothing changing, and JR could be taking the team to his grave. I just think all of the noise over the past few days regarding the end of the lease, potential move, and potential sale of the team is more than just noise. The right hire could make this team look much more enticing to potential buyers.
  12. If the Sox are planning on having someone hired by the end of the season, does that necessarily mean it'll be someone not currently working for another club? I'm not sure how that works. Can an assistant GM (or other front office role) be hired away from another team during the season? On a side note, if they're serious about having someone in place by the end of September, it seems like they already know who they are targeting and may already have a lot of the leg work done.
  13. I think the assertions that Grifol is safe is because he still has a job right now. The new GM may want their own staff.
  14. I thought I remembered hearing Theo Epstein wanted to eventually be part of an ownership group, hire him as lord of baseball operations. Then he can buy the team in a few years.
  15. I know little about folks out there who would be good candidates. I just hope it’s someone external and they’re given the keys. If rumors of the team being sold soon, this is a good opportunity for JR to step back and let go of the puppet strings.
  16. Vaughn did the right thing. Had TA taken another punch, he probably would have been in concussion protocol. The fight was over as soon as he was knocked to the ground. None of Ramirez's teammates continued to throw punches. There was a lot of yelling and minor pushing, but it really wasn't a brawl. To call out the Sox for not defensing TA is ridiculous. Why not call out the Guardians for not backing up Ramirez?
  17. This is probably the most excitement we've had as fans this season. I imagine more and more stories will start leaking. Hahn will talk at 3:15 and make it seem like everything is under control and there are no issues.
  18. Before the season ends, the Sox will be brawling in their own dugout like in Major League 2.
  19. There's no point for Grandal to be on the team anymore. Just start the jettisoning of the s%*# and DFA him.
  20. Ramirez needs to take a look toward first base and observe that tub of s%*# Naylor when he talks about TA disrespecting the game. That being said, TA was itching for a fight. He threw his s%*# down hockey-fight style...and then got put on his ass. TA's problem is that he's disrespected himself. His off-field issues have obviously taken a toll on him mentally and emotionally. He's a shell of the player he used to be. Now, he's gone all Antonio Brown on Twitter. I don't know if Tim will ever be the player he was and we thought he was going to be. He needs to get his head on straight and come back in 2024 ready to play baseball and stop being a distraction to himself and the team. And to hell with Jose Ramirez.
  21. Maybe this is finally the thing that gets changes to happen. Doubtful, but who knows. The brawl Saturday night, followed by this, is giving the Sox plenty of unwanted national attention. Wouldn't you think that there's a point where JR, as cheap as he is, finally says enough is enough? Clean house and try to build a team with a better culture. Now, how long until we see the announcement that SoxFest is cancelled again?
  22. I still want to see Robert, Cease, TA do well. Cease and TA more to increase their value for potential off season trades. Since Toussaint is most likely part of the 2024 rotation, I'd like to see him do well. Otherwise, I want to see the best prospects continue to improve and give us a glimmer of hope for the future. As far as other teams, I've always sort of liked the Rays. Their old school Devil Rays gear is awesome. I'll follow the Marlins a bit now and keep an eye on Burger. I hope he does well there. My son and I are going to the Brewers game tomorrow, when they are playing the Pirates. I like both teams; the Brewers because they're a pretty good team, and the Pirates because I grew up a Pirates fan. And most of all, I'm rooting for damn football season to start to distract me from this embarrassment of a season.
  23. Hahn made a comment around the trade deadline about (I'm paraphrasing) "hearing from those in charge" after the season. Definitely sounded like he's at least not sure of his future with the team.
  24. The hot takes are flowing like a waterfall. Not just around Burger, but also Giolito, Lynn, Lopez, etc. White Sox Twitter (or White Sox X, I guess now) is virtually impossible to read. Burger had a nice game and had some great post game comments. I'm glad he's happy there, and I hope he tears the cover off the ball forever. But we hate the White Sox organization so much that we look at one outing after a player is traded and attribute their success to the fact that they don't play for the Sox anymore. Realistically, Jake will probably have very similar offensive numbers in Miami as he did here. If he's happier, that's great. Good for him and for the Marlins. Look at Giolito. He had a decent first outing (very 2023 Gio-like) and a horrible second outing. Lynn had a very 2023 Lance-like outing. They will probably both perform similarly to how they did in Chicago this year. A change of scenery can do some good, but it won't change who a player is performance-wise that much. The White Sox fucked up the rebuild so badly, and we're right to want big changes. Maybe some changes will occur after this year, maybe not. But most of us will be back. It's okay to love the team and the players and hate the organization. But, man, we can't look at one game after a player is traded and say, "See! I knew he sucked because he played for the White Sox. We got boned in that trade."
