  1. What are you, British or somethin’????
  2. Remember when we had the best record in the AL? 2-13 after that glorious start.
  3. It's not on WGN! I can finally watch a game!
  4. I think there's less chance of Machado signing here than Harper and there's absolutely no chance with Harper. If i'm wrong then i'll be dancing jigs all over my house. Imo, we already have our Machado and Harper with #10 and #74 (that should prove my eternal optimism).
  5. QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 05:25 PM) I love Yolmer. He's one of my favorite players. However, he does not fill the void, upon which I'm focusing. I love the kid too. It's a bit disappointing that Moncada didn't try to play center field or third because Yolmer is good enough to be a long term second baseman. I understand not messing with the future face of the franchise's head.
  6. Let's be honest, there's 0% chance we get one of the big three. I'd offer him the Melky contract, maybe even go an extra year. We have the money and the long term need.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 08:12 AM) Just how bad is having the worst farm system in baseball, really? Or how beneficial to be Top 3? http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2214341...baseball-really Year 4 and Year 5 for the White Sox would be 2021 and 2022 Just glanced over the article, but the numbers might be skewed a bit if the teams with the bad farms were big spenders.
  8. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 11:41 PM) You should be able to receive WLS with no problem in Schaumburg. The station is a clear channel, transmitting with 50,000 watts. Might be a problem with your radio. Actually WLS did alot of talking and cross-promoting about the White Sox during the station's 3 live & local shows: John Howell and Ray Stevens, Bob and Marianne, and Steve Dahl, who is a huge White Sox fan. WLS had many video interviews with players on the station's website. There is 'White Sox Weekly' which airs at 12 Noon every Sunday year round for free on the radio (not just a podcast). WLS broadcasted live from Soxfest at 2016 and 2017, and the station is supposed to be at Soxfest again this weekend despite everything that is going on right now. For most seasons in White Sox history, the team has aired on radio stations which did not have a Sports Talk format. Doesn't bother me. But I would agree that AM 1000 WMVP (ESPN Radio) is the most likely choice where the Sox could end up in 2018, although there are several other possibilities. . The station sucks (the reception, not content). I've got a 2016 vehicle and my wife's 2012 model has a new sound system. It's not the radio. I lose reception when I get north of Lake Cook Rd or west of 355. So that means unless i'm in Cook County I can't listen. It's terrible because I used to listen to every day game since i'm always in my vehicle.
  9. QUOTE (35thstreetswarm @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 03:41 PM) Another risk that comes with the sleeveless is that fans buy them, too. Ever sit next to a fat guy in the sleeveless jersey with his pit-hair blazing on a hot August day in the early 2000s ? Not pretty Yo, that's offensive to every hairy fat pig out there!
  10. I've always preferred piping to pinstripes. Looks a lot cleaner. That and get the "SOX" off the shoulder. Bring back the white sock in the diamond.
  11. As in Iron man Robert? He'll always be French Canadian "RoBay" to me.
  12. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 08:29 PM) He and Eloy are both also there. I don't know if he saw them as much though. He says "on that field" so they might have been on a different field. I have a hard time believing that Robert impressed more than Moncada and Eloy, but if true ! AND they think he'll stick in center???? This just keeps getting better.
  13. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 11:57 AM) Josh Nelson 12:10 Saw your tweet from the White Sox hitters camp. Who impresses you the most from that group? Eric A Longenhagen 12:11 It was Robert and it wasn't close. Hit balls out to all fields during BP, more raw pop than anyone else taking BP on that field including Burger and Sheets From Longenhagen's and McDaniel's chat today. Is Moncada not there?
  14. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) The highest payroll the White Sox have had was in 2011 when it was $129 million. The second highest was $121 million in 2008. They have never had a payroll of $150 million and never will as long as JR owns the team. I just checked it out: $129,000,000 in the year 2010 is equivalent to $144,813,231.46 in 2017. I think a $150,000,000 in 2019 or 2020 isn't out of the question.
  15. Make sure you pack a parka and some thermals. And a balaclava.... no joke.
  16. I get depressed because the end of baseball season means another brutal Chicago winter is almost upon us. And the end of golf season too.
  17. Not sure how he kept that laser last night fair, but it was sweet.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 02:35 AM) Wednesday: Won- Giants, Phillies, A's, Pirates Lost- White Sox, Tigers, Mets, Reds, Padres, Braves 11 days left Team (Games left) - Sox Magic Number to have higher pick: 1. Giants(9) - 11 (-1.0 GB)* 2. White Sox(11) 3. Phillies(10) - 11 (-0.5 GB)** 4. Tigers(10) - 9 (+2.5 GA)*** 5. Mets(10) - 6 6. Reds(10) - 6 7. Braves(12) - 5 8. Padres(10) - 4 9. Pirates(9) - 2 10. A's(10) - 3 *The Sox need to be 1 game worse with the remaining schedule to have a higher pick **The Sox need to be 0.5 game worse with the remaining schedule to have a higher pick ***The Tigers need to be 2.5 games worse with the remaining schedule to have a higher pick than the Sox Wait, didn't the Giants have a better record than us last year? Shouldn't that give us the tie breaker with them?
  19. Picture Sylvester reaching in the cage for the trapped Tweety bird.
  20. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) Does anybody know what the hell the catbird seat is? I've always pictured it as "sitting pretty". Like a cat on a stool right beside a birdcage.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 06:36 AM) Looks like I'm going to have to see this one. In terms of my favorite comics of all-time, t was always the following in some order. - Batman - Spider-Man - Wolverine - Superman Hopefully they did this one as much justice as it sounds. They made quite a few changes that some "purists" might not like, but they didn't bother me at all. Imo, Holland IS Peter Parker. I really was smiling for two hours!
  22. It was really great! Imo, surpasses every version of Spidey and now sits on the top of my favorite comic book movie list (I loved Ledger's Joker, but hated Bale's Batman.) Homecoming Winter Soldier Civil War Avengers GotG 2
  23. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) Now I remember. Tax savings. Robert signs a deal for $26 Million, Sox get another similar bill for some tax, and now the White Sox biggest concern is Robert's tax return. This tax saving concept sucked from day one. Here is what you do: 1. Pay the tax owed. 2. Move to the US. So, instead, this mega - wealthy 19 year old is hanging around the DR with money coming out of his pockets, dealing with whomever, playing once a week on some sand lot. He predictably hurts himself and goes to the local witch doctor for medical attention. He should be over here getting big league instruction, playing as often as possible, and getting better as quickly as possible. But No. We need to save taxes. What do we do to save taxes in 2018? Keep him in the DR again? Isn't this what crazy people do? Same thing over and over. What did Red Sox do when they signed Moncada to similar deal two years ago? They moved him the the US, put him on the Low A roster, and played him. Tax savings. $26 Mill is not enough. We have to save his taxes, too. I think the purpose for Robert to stay in the DR was to save HIM in taxes not the Sox. Next year his bonus isn't taxable income just his yearly salary, so he can come over.
