  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) "I signed this deal knowing i will be on a contending team, and once the A's become a non-contending team I expects to be dealt to a contender." Cmon, that doesn't sound like he wants to get out of there at all? He expects to get dealt because there is no need for a guy making 10+ million dollars a year to be one of the worst teams in the division. I could see if he was producing that they would keep him just for the fans he draws to the park nightly. But if he continues to hit like this all year those fans will turn on him quickly no matter how well he has done in the past.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) I don't really like his attitude. He's been on the A's his whole career and they've always contended. Now, they hit their first rough season and he sounds like he's already got one foot out the door. , Mr. Chavez. No, more like he understands how small budget teams and baseball in general works.
  3. You just created a mess of a thread.
  4. QUOTE(Slave of Mind @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:00 AM) Why are you denying me? You and Jose introduced me to this site.. WHere is jose anyways??
  5. QUOTE(Slave of Mind @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) U introduced me to this site! i live on ur block a.j. ur funny No.
  6. QUOTE(Slave of Mind @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) Duh he doesnt play for the cubs, why would we care, jeez A.J. I do not know you...?
  7. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) wasn't that his gold glove position in Japan? Until he was forced to move to second due to a shoulder injury.
  8. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) I wish Ozzie would try uribe at 3rd for a change, gooch at ss, and willie at 2b, BTW Didn't Gooch seem to hit Santana's changeup earlier this year ok? Iguchi should and will not play at short stop at all costs.
  9. If cal eldred hit a dodger in the head wonder if this thread would be around?
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) It may take a little more to get Mackoviak. Maybe one of the midlevel prospects. I wouldn't give up someone in the Sean Tracey range but even a guy like Andy Gonzalez (the SS) in addition to Diaz or Munoz, and Crede. The thing is he wasn't exactly amazing last year, but he was solid. Career wise, it seems like you could maybe expect .255 to .260 out of him but this year he's been fantastic. I also think you could project about 20 homers. His average ( in previous years) has left some to be desired. If he didn't walk at the rate he does we would have another timo on are hands that can play more positions. So hell he would already be more valuable than that garbage.
  11. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Holy f***!! Wrong Thread!!?? Err, I think... I was basically responding to myself about this... Anyway, playoff caliber teams have very good left handed hitters batting some where between 3-5 and i don't see anyone on this team at the moment that can do so.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) That's why we need Mackowiak. He could play 3B or RF versus tough right-handers. You don't like mackowiak do you?
  13. Twins with morneua and mauer. Yankees with matsui ( even though he has the ability to put up monster numbers unlike carl. Red sox with ortiz. Orioles have palmeiro but that is probally a stretch. Angels with anderson. Rangers with blaylock and teixeira Cardinals with walker and edmonds. Marlins have delgado ( been doing awesome this year) Braves has chipper jones ( nice bounce back season you could say). Arizona who i don't think is very good but has stuck in it thus far has gonzalez and green. Dodgers with bradley and drew ( who is struggling average wise but still walks like a mother f***er) and you can even make a case for choi if he ever got regular playing time. Padres klesko and giles.
  14. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) So do we. He bats leadoff and disrupts the flow of the game for the pitcher every time he's on base. That is why there was more to what i said.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) I don't like all the righties in a row and would have AJ ahead of someone. I'd probably have Thomas/Konerko/Arow or Dye (whoevers hottest at the time)/Pyrz/the other We need a big time left handed power bat in this line-up and carl everett is not the answer. Once everett is sitting we will only have two lefties in our every day line-up. One is the catalyst podsednik and the other is the always steady pierz ( would like to see him raise that average to what he is capable of). The name we always here around here is abreu but the chances of that are very unlikely. The reason i think that is because just turned 31 and is one of the best all around players in the game. He is also far and away their number one star attraction and he is a player you build around. Sure he signed an albatross contract but his numbers do seem to back it up... if kw ever had a deal on the table and all thjat stood in the way was the money you better believe he would do it. If you look around the league every playoff caliber team has a big time left handed hitter batting anywhere from 3-5.
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 31, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) I'm probably crazy, but I would like to see Gload in there instead of Konerko. Would give the lineup more balance because he's another lefty, and one that is more of a line-drive hitter. Once gload gets back konerko hits the bench for two days at the very least in my opinion. His numbers did improve from may to april but it was honestly pretty hard for them not to. I do believe gload is doing very well on his rehab assignment and i would be a fresh change.
  17. Can someone please tell me walker's purpose on this team? It has now been three weeks time and he has throw 2 and two thirds of an inning. I know he has a nice shiny 0.00 era but in the very limited times he has pitched he was not good. I know not everyone agrees with me that the other 425,000 he got for getting called up was either a lot of money or a big deal but everything counts. Remember that once the trade dead line comes and we have 1.5 million dollars invested in two bums aka timo and walker.
  18. Ahh... was just this past off-season that people did not want politte's option picked up let alone be resigned to a new deal.
  19. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Don't forget Marte. Marte pitched very good tonight.
  20. How is politte's 1.2 million dollar option for next year looking?
  21. This is why i said last week i wouldn't mind if bonds got hurt. Practically any other player in sports i wouldn't wish it on. But anything for that f***ing prick bonds.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Ok, Politte is in for the top of the 9th, register your complaints now. Cleveland wins 4-3. I can see it now... Something like that anyway.
  23. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) WTF is everyone pissed at Marte for??? He POPPED those guys up, but they just got b**** hits out of them. People need something to b**** don't they? b**** at the fielders in this situation first and fore most.
