QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Exactly what I was sayin...only worry is can CQ play RF with that foot of his. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) Should be why? To put an injured Q in RF maybe 3 times a month? Thats just not smart. If you want Rios in CF, PODS is sitting. Thats how it is this season. The only way Rios is in CF and PODS is on the field is if Q is hurt or sitting, and even then Ozzie probably would want to keep PODS out of LF. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is no good reason why quentin can play left field without it being an injury risk though right field is. The amount of chances in left field and right field is almost identical. I could see if there were substantially more balls hit to right rather than left... and people were worried he would be tested more out there. There is no reason to be concerned about any sort of adjustment period considering he has played right the majority of his baseball playing days. If dye is sitting, and your starting outfield consists of podsednik, rios, and quentin, the logical outfield rotation would be podsednik in left, rios in center, and quentin in right. Quentin is supposed to be a better right fielder than left fielder, rios is our best outfielder defender by far, and podsednik is a better defender in left compared to center (though it is pretty minimal considering podsednik has throwing woes in left compared to center). Suppose podsednik a wash in left and center, if we could upgrade at two positions defensively, even if it's only a handful of times, it's never a bad idea. While it is unlikely for this scenario to come to frutation, it's the right one.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) He's a natural RF, no? Definitely.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Concern for what? Grass stains on his dockers? No, jake had a legitimate concern. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) I'm glad I didn't go, for fear that Pratt would describe my body type in too great of detail. That is reason enough to scare anyone away.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) Pratt didn't show. He did have a legitimate concern.

Rather logical if you ask me... there have been many other studies done of this sort... and all conclude the same way. Does it bother any of you (not just people in this thread) that kalapse pwns the living s*** right out of yourselves on a daily basis? Soxtalk is so very monotonous, it's craziness.

Idiotic thought process on guillen's part.

Once more, all of those that consider dye even a average fielder, remember that play.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) Beckham4thehall makes BearSox look like Einstein in threads/post. Now this is the truth.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) I am pretty sure I could say something bad because he hasnt been around in a while so he would never see it anyway,right? He was last seen on the 19th of july. Even if he was on everyday you should say something bad, he is just that brutal. Yes, that is an insult.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 06:41 PM) Beckham is a doubles machine. AJ is red-hot. Good game by Scottie, 4 RBI is not something he must have accomplished much in his career. Good patience at the plate by Nix. Solid game by Getz. Good start by Danksy. Let's finish 'em tomorrow! This is now the fifth time podsednik has driven in four rbi's, so you could say that.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) I'm a sarcastic asshole, I never asked you or anyone else to respond. Sarcasm equates to insults? There was no sarcasm in your insults in this very thread. They were very frank and straight forward. I am not talking about what you said to myself i am talking about this thread with wcsox (who i do not particularly agree with) and yesterday in the game thread. While it is true you never asked myself or anyone else to respond, it's only logical why you or anyone makes a a post... it's because they want some sort of feedback on their thoughts. If that was not the case we would all be writing down our white sox and baseball thoughts down in a journal. Just seems to me a global moderator SHOULD NOT BE POSTING IN ALL CAPS!!! simply because they are frustrated someone does not agree with them, talk very snippy to others because they are pessimistic (game thread) then later go on to throw a temper tantrum later in that very thread... and of course insult. I found it amusing you threatened to ban people in the game thread while not possessing such power in the first place. Great scare tactic. You can go ahead and run to the secret board board once you see this to complain, but honestly i could care less, as yourself, not myself, is the one in the wrong.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) Please. OBP is not needed in the 2-hole. A .330 OBP is way better in front of the heart of your lineup than a .371 OBP. You have been very childish recently, if you have not noticed. Surprised anyone is even bothering to respond at this point.

Optimizing your lineup.

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) BA will now dominate Sportscenter every night My favorite player gone It's for the better. Anderson should be not be anyone's favorite player, unless you know him personally, and even then i still might question it. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) Edited for accuracy Both have 122 home runs since thome first got here in 2006.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:39 AM) I believe Johnson was a Boras client, and he deteriorated quickly after the 2000 season. And no one put him in the same sentence as Widger. No one ever should. People try and compare Quentin to god (AKA Widger). Well, atleast Widger finished the 2005 season on the active roster. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) Widger's last game with the Sox - July 20th. The Sox were 58-36, 22 games over .500. White Sox record after July 20th? 32-36, division lost. Coincidence? This is why i love you.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) Very true... His were both in the same inning, correct? Yes, both off of chan ho park also. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LA...199904230.shtml

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:12 AM) If Buehrle wanted a perfect game to go along with a Cy Young, he either better pitch like a man possessed and lead the Sox to a division title, or he picked the wrong year. Both Greinke and Felix have pitched far superior, and Beckett is damn near destined to pitch for a team that makes the playoffs (which I would imagine adds 12 to his CyP rating, as he helped lead his team to a playoff appearance, even if it's not technially a division title). If he puts up a 2005-esque 3.12 ERA - and he's close with a lot of time left, which is good and bad - and wins 8 or so games in the next 2 months, and leads the team to a division win, he's got a chance. He's only lost 3 times which helps him a hell of a lot. If he ends the year at roughly 19-5, 3.15 ERA with the Sox winning the division, I'd say he has a hell of a good chance, even if Greinke and Felix's ERA's end up south around or (well) below 2.75. Remember that in 07 Sabathia won it over Beckett even though Beckett won one more game and pitched for the media favorite Red Sox, mainly because he pitched more innings (Sabathia's K/9 that year was 7.8, much higher than Buehrle, but it's worth considering all the same). Same story actually happened in 2005 when several pitchers, including Buehrle, Garland, Santana, and Lee all pitched better or arguably better (better in Buehrle and Santana's case, arguably in Garland and Lee's case) than Bartolo Colon, but he won 21 games). I'm not going to do the math right now, but I would bet that the first 3 finished real close (guessing Santana-Buehrle-Garland in that order, which is also funny, since Cliff Lee finished higher than both Buehrle and Garland, even though the Sox won the division). It was colon, rivera, santana, lee, buehrle, garland, and millwood in that order. Colon had 118 points, rivera 68, santana 51, lee 8, buehrle 5, garland 1, and millwood with one.
