  1. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) The fans dont deserve this but I remind you that we knew it was coming. The day that KW let Aaron Rowand go was the biggest mistake! He sold our soul and basically insinuated that anyone was expendable no matter what your contribution leading up to that point might have been. I must say that wouldnt motivate me or make me feel like we are building the sense of team. Is it possible that KW felt threatened by someone like Aaron Rowand? I am starting to believe so. If we're going by who contributed more to our World Series win, then letting Geoff Blum go was his biggest mistake. Blum >Rowand in the playoffs.
  2. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:46 AM) Did Pods just forget he needed to swing at balls in the zone? We are quickly losing even the fundemental knowledge of the game here It's been happening with him for 2 years now...odd time to bring this up.
  3. BTW....this trade would never happen, as Sizemore might be the biggest untouchable there is in baseball. Please keep my blood pressure down everyone, and don't suggest that this could actually happen.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) Can Danks throw a ground ball? You really have to wonder if he'll be able to be effective pitching at the Cell unless he can develop a cutter/sinker. His home run rate is scary.
  5. I'm all for trading Jenks...he's shown nothing that makes you believe he'll get his 98 mph fastball back. If he has anywhere near this value, you trade him.
  6. Danks just isn't very good right now. It's almost the exact opposite about how we thought he'd struggle out of the gates, and then he'd develop over the course of the season like he did in every other league.
  7. So, who ends up with the lower ERA this year, Danks or McCarthy? And this is a serious question, not a post ripping on the trade.
  8. Terrero should be a back-up outfielder next year for the Sox, as he gives you someone who can play all 3 outfield positions and can supply a little power/speed off the bench.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) Josh Fields just mashed one. What happened?
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:19 PM) Thome swings and misses at the 84 mph gas. He's worthless against LHP....Santo = dorf, if you're reading this, what would you think about trading Thome?
  11. With Pods back, we'll see enough weak grounders on the infield, so I don't care about seeing Sweeney back for a while. I'd like to see Gio and Richar.
  12. Buehrle, Contreras, Thornton, Mackowiak, Dye
  13. Hughes, Gallardo and Homer Bailey are the three untouchable pitching prospects in baseball. Joba and Kennedy are much more realistic. I'd take Melky and Kennedy for Buehrle.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) I'd vastly rather him be sent down if they're desperate to make a change. But really, if he's already in the big leagues, and we've already written off the season, what's the harm in letting him work out his control problem next to Cooper? The worst part of that idea IMO might be that it could be rushing Floyd back to the big leagues when he's just finding himself a rhythm at AAA while at the same time screwing with Danks' confidence. And hell, I still hate the idea of putting a starter like Danks in the pen in general. I had a big problem with them not letting him try and qualify for a win last game. I understood the decision against the Phillies to pull him one out before qualifying, but I was more annoyed last game when he was around 89 pitches. What's the harm in seeing if he has the guts to get a big out to get to the plateau?
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) That would be an awful idea. Absolutely awful. Throw some strikes today and shut Fathom's mouth John. Please. Oh trust me, I hate the idea. However, Ozzie has been making comments recently about Danks that makes me wonder how much longer they'll let him go out there and throw 100 pitches in 5 innings before making a change.
  16. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) The two draft picks would undoubtably be better than that -- it's a lousy trade for the Sox. But no team will give up even a single top 40 prospect for Buehrle and KW wants "major league ready" players. To me, that means mediocre youngish veterans (not that Heilman is young). I just think Sox fans are tremendously overestimating the market for Buehrle. Are you trying to be as pessimistic as possible about the trade packages? I'm one of the biggest supporters of bashing stupid message board trade proposals, but it seems like you're going out of your way to make the trade options seem as bad as possible. I guarantee you that you're underestimating what Buehrle can bring back in a trade.
  17. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Fathom, would you pay Zambrano more and/or give more years than Buehrle? Just curious what you think. I wouldn't -- better stuff, but too unstable, and I think he's prone to injury. I would give the money/years to Buehrle. However, I think it's hard for KW to judge things right now because he has no clue how much payroll he'll free up with the trades. If we do lose these guys, expect us to be in the running for Zambrano as a way to make it look like we're not slashing our payroll/rebuilding.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) Lets try to get out of the 5th inning today, John. If he struggles today, I could see him moving to the bullpen and Floyd getting called up.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) Has there been any confirmation from either side that the deal being talked about is NOT 5 years? Nope, and with that in mind, I believe Buerhle's agent thinks he can get him a 7 year deal. Something that no one is talking about is that if the Sox don't bring back Buehrle and create more salary space by getting rid of Contreras and/or Garland, they could very well be players for Zambrano this offseason.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) .213 BA, .302 OBP, .365 SLG, .668 OPS He's been terrible. He'd fit right in with those numbers. I think he's going to be a good hitter, and would gladly take him over someone like Wily Mo.
  21. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) I've seen nothing about Porcello signing with the Tigers ... ? Gammons said last night they were close to giving him Josh Beckett money.
  22. Do whatever it takes to free up that money.
  23. The Cubs....their Soriano deal completely screwed up the market.
