  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) It's just so hittable now. At least he seems to have found his hanger. Any fastball is hittable when you get what you are looking for. His velocity was fine tonight, his breaking pitches are fine tonight. Its a 3 run lead, and he was pumping strikes in. I would rather he did this, than walked the world and got dinked and dunked to death. As long as his stuff is like this he is fine. Its when he drops to low 90s that he is a mess.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Another homer off of Jenks, and the tying run to the plate. His fastball is a joke now. His velocity has been fine tonight. Bruce got a first pitch fastball and crushed it.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) What happened last inning? Did Alexei think Pods was coming home and get caught between 2nd and 3rd? Alexei is having perhaps his best game of the season, but he's still not all there mentally...not to mention the pickoff at first, although Farmer thought it was a balk move. Its a contact play. They both took off, the ball was sharply hit, and Pods ran back to 3rd instead of being a dead duck at home.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) Jesus, Liney just broke off that strike 3. Where did that come from? f***ing nasty...... Where the hell has that been in his arsenal. That could help people stop sitting on his fastball.
  5. Maybe Ozzie should realize that this version of Linebrink is not the same guy he watched dominate pre injury last year. The bullpen should be up right now.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) What happened to all the Pods hater, anyway?! Still like his wife better.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) Ozzie's trying to prove Thome's history against Rhodes has been a fluke. That and proving that Scott Linebrink is Scott Linebrink circa pre all star 2008.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) side note: if you twitter, Iranians asking that you change your location to "Tehran" to throw off the secret police who are tracing twits...now, back to the game. This makes no sense. Either the Iranian secret police are technically retarded, or people don't know how people can tap country level ISPs like they have in Iran. Its not like the Iranians have to deal with warrants and the amount of links to the internet from Iran are small enough that you could have taps on every connection.
  9. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 04:39 PM) We need a good outing by Richard because Johnny Cueto is pretty tough. The defense and the pitching need to man up for the rest of this game. The only reason the reds are in this game is because of our own doing.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) England spends 1/2 as much per person as we do, covers everyone in their country, and produces significantly better results in terms of overall care for the total population according to repeated studies. Odd, my relatives in Ireland and England tell a different story. Complains about rationing, lack of choice, waiting for simple surgeries that get you put on a waiting list. Now granted on of their relatives is dead, waiting for one of those rationed surgeries that he would of received here in no time. Don't sweat the small stuff I tell them. As a diabetic I would be excited on what government rationed drugs I would get to take, probably not the stuff that I take now. Its expensive. But then again, with an incurable disease. I am just a burden on the system, and if I check out it will lower the cost anyway. Can't wait for this.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 08:34 AM) I'd love to know this too as I am seriously debating going to South Africa. Not looking forward to the 24 hour travel time though. Also kinda skeptical about security in So Africa right now. If I do end up going I bet we go to the Cape Town games. I have been to South Africa before. There are some beautiful resort type areas in South Africa, including a spot where they have marked where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. I was there for work, 2 weeks after our install armed bandits broke into the office and stole all the brand new computing equipment. So that kind of left a bad taste in my mouth as far as security. That was in the late 90s when this happened.
  12. Nice game today, great pitching performance. Good win.
  13. Beckham hits his first homer to right center field late in the game. Causing the bestest fans in the world to cry, pout and trash their shrine again with garbage. Cub fans, embracing the fail since 1908.
  14. Nice game, good to see Beckham with another double. Letting the ball get deep and hitting it the other way. Once he settles down a bit, he might be a nice gap to gap hitter. Great series. Lets move back on to Urine field and lets take that series as well.
  15. Ah national league baseball, where outs are wasted in large numbers.
  16. Bacon with a nice AB. Gets the Count up this inning.
  17. Well if this is what gets him through the day, then whatever. If he starts showing the team up, or running his mouth he might get plunked. Especially after publicly stating this.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 08:43 AM) From what I have read so far on who we picked, overall I think we did pretty well. But the signing phase is just as important, so we'll know more in a couple months how it really went. We should probably have a new thread that shows all the draft picks, and updates their signing status. I like the new direction of more skills and less safe. We might have a bust or two down the road, but its better to find that one nuggest super talented guy than have 4 guys who were safe spending a few years in AAA because they can't make the jump. Emphasis needs to be placed on the signing phase. Also going overslot on some of the signability issue guys we picked up later. If they have the talent dangle the money and see if you can get them to jump. Rebuilding our minor leagues for our future is a key thing now.
  19. Nice pitching by the Count, Danks and Gavin this series. We need the offense to get rid of the pucker factor when a guy gets into scoring position. Good win.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) And he already makes better contact at the plate than Borchard and Fields could have ever dreamed of. He is also pretty damn fluid at 3rd. His baseball instincts are far beyond Fields at 3rd. They said it last night, Beckham attacks the grounder, picks his hop and makes the play. Fields lets the ball play him. Beckham had a bad hop come up on him yesterday, he still makes a nice play for the out. There was another play last night, ball dribbled down the 3rd base line, he attacks it and his glove is down the entire time. The kid is a natural. Him coming up early might not pay off this year, but the experience he is getting is going to pay off in the long run.
  21. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) opposite field base hit, linedrive to left center and... can't remember his other at-bat, but i know he got good wood on it he's looked awesome in the box, I know that much His first out was to second base, solid strike on the ball. These stuff type pitchers are just what the doctor ordered. Less thought, more natural ability taking over.
  22. Well the ray of sunshine, Beckham looked good up at the plate tonight against a pretty tough pitcher. 1 for 3. Keep hitting, and it will come.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) Ozzie trys to marginalize Beckham again. "''You guys [the media] do a pretty good PR department for Beckham,'' Guillen said. ''I've been in Chicago for 17 years, playing and coaching. Has anybody been 0-for-whatever he is, he hasn't got booed yet? He hit a ground ball to second base and got a standing ovation from the fans [the other day]. Somebody hit a ground ball right at him, and he got another standing ovation. Good job, guys. Keep it up. I hope he sells a lot of shirts, but I need production.'' I'm starting to feel very uncomfortable with Ozzie managing the next generation of White Sox players. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...soxnt10.article Ozzie meet Robin Ventura, your old teammate. He turned out fine. Take the advice you gave us about Wise's ABs.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:41 PM) I don't know how you guys can really slam Holmberg. He throws 88-91 as a lefty, kind of like most major league lefties do. And he has a good feel as a prep. He should only advance further along if they sign him. I really want Thompson to sign, get him signed along with Mitchell and Phlegey and I can look past some of our potential overdrafts, etc. The key is signing these guys. We need to keep filling up the minors with talent, so we can turn this into a first rate organization top to bottom. The more you can either fill from within, or use as chit later for a trade. The more you can get better without a large cost.
  25. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) would it hurt anything if he got his feet wet? Its one thing coming out of high school, its another coming out of college. Lets see if he gets beyond high A this year, which may be a stretch before we promote him. Beckham is a freak, you realize. Most guys don't get there this quick.
