i doubt anything happens over the break. from a p.r. standpoint it's difficult to go from "all in" to folding your hand when your five games out. don't get me wrong, i don't see this team going anywhere, but it's easy to see where a competitive gm finds a rationale for not blowing the thing up at this moment. i think the 12 games after the break (detroit, kc, cleveland, detroit) probably determines his next move.

looks like they have a good fake try going on. which is better than not trying at all, i suppose.

i haven't met many sox fans out here. there's a ton of transplanted chicagoans, but all of the one's i've met are cub fans. and you don't find too many locals who root for the sox. strangely enough one of the main local radio sportstalk hosts is a pretty big sox fan and from chicago. he doesn't talk about it on his show often, but it gets referenced from time to time.

sale's been great. is the assumption that he'll start back in the minors next year at say, AA, to transition back into a starting role?

my gosh this whole waiver process with manny has been like one long tooth extraction. hope it's not indicative of the next month.
