  1. for all the talk about short-term deals it’s hard to figure out how anyone would think things will be more lucrative next year.
  2. they were factually correct, but lacked the broader perspective verducci usually provides.
  3. rozner and ostrowski with a pretty good takedown of verducci’s thoughts on the score this morning.
  4. shot a bit of video of kopech warming up. don’t know how to embed here yet but here’s a link: Kopech warming up
  5. i’m at kopech’s game. velocity was great but he had no command. walked five and hit two in three Innings. only gave up one hit but he was all over the place.
  6. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) lol!
  7. i don't see it as a "new" blueprint, just one others have tried with less valuable and volume of assets.
  8. QUOTE (kwill @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 12:05 AM) Well that just cold water on this situation. I don't know where the Robertson thing came from either. levine
  9. a lot of "streeeeetch" happening in this thread.
  10. apparently cardinals pitcher luke weaver was injured today. not specifics yet on what it was, though.
  11. my biggest complaint is that when JR wouldn't commit to a rebuild he also wouldn't commit to overspending on free agents, which you pretty much have to do if you are trying to "rebuild on the fly." the result of this was years of being mired in mediocrity, as hahn said. i've never thought overspending and rebuilding on the fly was a prudent approach, but if you want to claim you are going for it, you actually have to, you know, go for it.
  12. cardinals probably don't have enough, but wonder if they'll inquire again with Reyes out.
  13. looks like Sox signed pitcher Corey Luebke. Coming off two TJSs.
  14. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/sean-ge...es/201612210195 I know front offices pretend to not listen to this kind of talk, but there is exasperation in Pittsburgh over always coming in second in these player derbys. A lot of their fans are sick of having a great group of prospects but an average-to-good MLB squad that seems to constantly suffer because the pricetags (whether it be money or prospects) are never met by the Pirates to bring in outside help. It explains why some fans have thrown out truly ludicrous proposals like "Meadows, Bell +" or, really anything including more than 1 of the Glasnow, Meadows, Bell group. They want to make a splash for once and really go for the throat in division rather than constantly punting away season after season because things aren't exactly right. local media applying pressure. love it.
  15. i doubt I root for losses, but it's in their best interest to be epically bad next year.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 02:24 AM) Funny how we couldn't wait to get rid of Danks because he was so bad, only to turn around and trade for James Shields'. Oh the irony. pretty much the whole season went in the crapper as soon as they cut danks. who knew that would be the turning point. god last year sucked.
