Marmol was sent to the Dodgers for Matt Guerrier also , though it's probably in the Cubs thread already.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 12:07 PM) Hinrich might have had a lot more value to the Bulls last year if he hadn't been playing starters minutes in some games. That's true but the Bulls knew Rose was going to miss much of the year so everyone knew the bulk of the playing time would go to Hinrich. Now he's got a few more injuries under his belt and is another year older and I don't think he is capable of defending up to his past standards nor is he much of an offensive threat. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) This was also the case last year and bench once again turned into a strength. One thing, Deng pretty much plays all game, so you'd have Hinrich (Teague?) at PG, Dunleavy at 2, deng at 3, Taj at 4 and nazr at 5. Taj is a great defender, great, and could be a starter in the league elsewhere. So yeah, it's not great, but it isn't awful. What makes a lot nervous is no backup for Noah, and so he might get run into the ground. I'm just bothered by committing to Hinrich and Mohammed mostly. Mohammed saw no minutes until the injuries really piled up and Hinrich's value is tied to playing time and if he can't stay healthy he's worthless. Plus if there's one constant criticism of Thib's, who everyone seems to love, it's that he plays a guy like Deng too many minutes which takes a toll eventually and might tie into all the injuries the Bulls had last year. -

Is it just me or does the Bulls bench right now seem to be very weak ? Belinelli, Robinson leaving for greener pastures, Nazr Mohammed old , Hinrich effective floor leader and defender but can't stay healthy ,Snell and Murphy who, if both make the team will be lucky to see many minutes, Teague who is pretty young but upside not incredibly high. Butler gone from bench and now a starter, Taj Gibson pretty solid on both ends but not great at any one thing. Dunleavy may or may not be as good as Belinelli. Anyone else from last years bench hardly worth a mention. Is this a fair assessment and if so what, if anything, are the Bulls looking to do about it ? -
Do we really have to be sellers?

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) Maybe its the 117 degree heat in Las Vegas making me crazy, but what if we decided to be buyers instead of sellers? We are only 10.5 games out of first place and no one seems prepared to run away with this division. Lets go out and trade for a 1B, 3B, C, OF, DH, and a couple of pitchers. If we have the opportunity, lets upgrade at other positions as well. We can turn this thing around with the pickup of 8 or 10 new players who contribute strongly. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we won the division after this start?? You really need to upgrade your class of hookers. The VD is obviously rotting your brain. -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) If they can resign Leddy, I'll be REAL happy about this offseason already. We'll see if the cut minutes in the finals meant anything more than just giving more minutes to better defenders. -

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) I see people throwing around Lind and Morales names as 1B/DH, but I haven't seen anyone really mention Morneau. The Twins are likely to let Morneau go and convert Mauer to full time 1B, and if Morneau finds that power stroke again, he can be one of the top 1B in the league for another 3-4 years. I think he would be a phenomenal signing if you can get him without breaking the bank. Personally I like James Loney. People throw around the other names because we're going to need some power. Loney won't command as much but he's a good stick and fielder. I want good defense if we hang onto most of our pitchers .

Sox continue to set new ways to suck. 1st time ever in Sox history that Cleveland beat the Sox all 4 games of a 4 game series at home. -
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) He hit that ball hard. It was just right at the 3rd baseman. Ahead in the count you just have to let a low pitch go. He hit a pitcher's pitch. Bad approach.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 05:27 PM) IMPOSSIBLE to do, but what the heck. C... Josh Phegley (Deserves the opportunity) 1B... Matt Adams (Go after this potential slugger with a Peavy or Crain heading to St Louis) 2B... Kolten Wong (Matt Carpenter making it TOUGH for him to get to the big leagues, if Cards are interested in Peavy a Adams/Wong return could be a possibility) 3B... Connor Gillaspie (He has shown quite a bit so far, still young, & let's see how he progresses/adjusts) SS... Gordon Beckham (Would love to see him get a shot at SS if Lexi is moved, I think he can make the change just fine) LF... Tank (Up & down...Up & down...Up & down it seems with him throughout the seasons, but I def don't wanna give up on him yet) CF... Jacoby Ellsbury (Throw some money at him in the off season & give us a lead off hitter who can cause some real problems at the top) RF... Alex Rios (This is iffy, cause I think there is a good shot he could be traded, but if not I'll gladly keep em) DH... Adam Dunn (Don't think he will be traded & he continues to hit quite a few homers) Ellsbury - L Wong - L Rios - R Dunn - L Tank - R Adams - L Beckham - R Gillaspie - L Phegley - R Chris Sale (ACE) Josh Johnson (Coop gets him looking like his old self ) John Danks (Hopefully he starts to look like his old self again) Jose Quintana (Still young & still pitching fairly well, would like to see him continue to progress) Erik Johnson (Look forward to see him making his debut later in the season ) Talk about "realistic".... Where did Santiago go ?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) 13 baserunners resulting in only 3 runs scoring....well, that's not so unusual for the Sox. 3-3. Tied like that. Axelrod's ERA for the month around 6. Leadoff walk and Glenbrook North's bomb resulting in RBI's 50 and 51. 405 feet. Also has almost 20 stolen bases. I think that makes 14 homers surrendered by Axe this season already. Only 405 ? Looked 435 . -
