  1. Crain also unscored upon in his last 24 appearances covering 25 innings.
  2. No winners thread for our 2nd in a row today so I'll use the old one. 2 in a row over the A's . Could've won all 4 if we hadn't blown 2 3 run leads. Santiago pitched well enough , relief was good. Rios , Flowers HR's.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Hector is a rare example of a guy who has a better fastball than reported when he shows up in the big leagues. I remember Lucas Harrell being that way as well. We haven't seen it a lot because of his lack of starts but I think Hector also maintains the speed on his fb too maybe even increasing the speed as the gamed progresses a la Verlander.
  4. Sweet to see Danks pitch well. A definite step in the right direction.
  5. We all saw how he was tearing the cover off the ball in spring training. It was one time where you knew ST meant something. Special talent.
  6. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) Two Teams, 1 Cup . I see what you did there.
  7. Lord Stanley welcomes the Chicago Blackhawks to the finals once again
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 10:36 AM) Sicnarf Loopstock is a pretty f***ing awesome name. Sicnarf is Francis backwards.
  9. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) We are not world beaters by any stretch of the imagination. I also happen to think we are not a 95-100 loss team, either, as this site's most infamous provacteur suggested earlier this evening. I still think there is sufficient talent on this ballclub that will surface and even out the results on the season. Will that be enough to prohibit us from being sellers in the next six, seven weeks or so? Probably not. But I don't think we are in the dire straits that some would lead us to believe. The pitching has been too good for that many losses but without Peavy ,does it hold up or collapse ? After the trade deadline ,if we sell off relievers , or Rios/Peavy then how bad will it be ? Some hitters really need to step up ,mostly noticeably Konerko and Viciedo. I mean if we're going to approach 90 losses might as well be 95 , just to get a better draft pick. I'm of the opinion that with a lot of money off the books the Sox can compete next year unlike others who figure we're screwed for the next couple of years.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) Easy to say in the throws of a losing streak, which every team faces eventually. Were you calling for 95 losses before this streak? I don't recall as much. The 1983 team was heading for a similar fate right around this time, and how did that eventually turn out? The point is, the range of the "realm of possibility" remains quite large at this point in the season. Thad I applaud your patience and I would normally agree since I am among the most optimistic of Sox fans but the writing is all over the wall already on this season. Bad defense ,bad offense. Bad luck. Bad mojo. 0dd numbered year. Injuries and on and on. I'm just hoping whatever is going on doesn't end up with Sale on the DL and Danks shows improvement and getting 1 or 2 legitimate ML ready player at the trade deadline. The Sox played good ball only for that stretch that got them to .500 .That Cubs series the bad mojo really set in. Pitcher HR's, grand slams, terrible hitting, pitchers not holding any leads, and no HR's for us, it's just been brutal to behold.
  11. Crosby , Malkin, Iginla, Neal, Letang combined 0 points and -20. Damn right Bruins are scary if they can do that to arguably some of the best offensive talent in the NHL.
  12. Typical Sox season so far. HR robbed from Gillaspie by Reddick.
  13. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) Has Alexei ever in his life successfully laid down a bunt? I think he was the last Sox to do it successfully a few days ago.
  14. The way Alexei stands when he bunts is just terrible . All batters attempting to sac bunt need to squat and keep the bat knee high. Any high pitch you let go. ALexei stands almost straight up with bat up.
  15. I hope someone has tweeted as many of our draft picks as possible giving them links to Soxtalk and other tweetsites.
  16. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) It seems as if the arms we have been targeting tend to be very fresh. I wonder if that's something they look for? Guys with lesser experience so they have a better chance of shaping their pitching minds and tendencies. Also less injury proine I would assume. That's exactly what I noticed. Guys who have fresh arms haven't been pitching long meaning they are babies in term of pitching yet already do it well. So upside might be way higher.

  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) That has him listed as an OF and they called him a RHP above? Not much current info on him : PRIOR TO LSU Played the 2010 season at Yavapai (Ariz.) College, batting .267 in 55 games with nine doubles, one triple, three homers, 22 RBI, 24 runs scored and six stolen bases ... worked 10.2 innings on the mound in eight appearances, recording a 1-0 mark with a 2.53 ERA, one save and five strikeouts.
