Maybe you don't understand how baseball is played. I'm saying they are beat up because we're getting HBP and we're not hitting anyone. Baseball has always been a game where you try to even those things out. Now I expect the Sox to be HBP more because of Antonacci. But for all those yearning for Peters he has to be hurting and Colson was hit on the wrist and that's why he's out. Between Venable looking like a Ghandi out there and our opponents using our guys for target practice maybe its no wonder Pham was brought in. I don't see any opposing pitchers being tossed from games. Maybe if the 1st inning is a problem for some guys try throwing high and tight and see if you got command right away . It'll make your away pitches that much harder to reach if you can keep opposing guys from leaning over the plate. Why do you think our guys keep getting hit? That's how you play the game. It's called pitching and there's a fear factor involved in it. Always has been always will be. I'd like to see our pitchers use the upper inner quadrant a lot more.

There's nothing from Latin America. Most of the starting pitchers are at career high innings and the young ones are babies pitching out of the pen. The last 3 series: Sox hitters HBP 5 times, Colson and Peters twice & Murakami . No Guardians were HBP in the 3 game series. Sox Lost 2 of 3 Sox hitters HBP 5 times Antonacci twice, Colson, Peters and Quero. 1 Cardinal was HBP . Sox lost 2 of 3. Sox hitter HBP 2 times Peters and Murakami . Peters hit 4 times in last 3 series, Colson 3 times, Murakami twice, Antonacci twice . Quero once and I don't know what side of the plate he was hitting. Peters and Colson are beat up . 12 HBP to 2 for our opposition in 9 games . Record 2-7 in those games. And the opposition cries when Antonacci throws out his elbow on a DP ball at 2nd base and barely makes contact. Sox are getting beat down and beaten. Might need to show some anger. Can't be doormats. Make the other teams hurt. Show some True Grit and take it into the playoffs. ! LFG !!!!

Right missed Kay, considered putting Cannon on the list decided not to .Did not think of Bush but even if I had I wouldn't have included him since I was trying to only consider guys who realistically could make the starting rotation with good spring Training performances. Shane Smith, given his melt down, could qualify, but there's a lot of guys ahead of him at this point. Not sure how much 2025 Smith will be considered if he has a very good ST especially if there is an extended lockout.

True. Outside of Castillo the TDL was not the downfall of the slump. The number #1 run scoring team in the league has had a lot of trouble scoring runs and Davis, Burke, Kay all have had their problem since the All Star break and TDL. The bullpen was overworked but allowed Hagen Smith to get his feet wet and is now flourishing. Maybe if the Sox can clinch the Divsion with a couple of games to go we see a start by Thorpe but the Sandlin move was the right one. I think they just want Thorpe to get stronger and be healthy and he'll get a shot in Spring training. That should be a wide open race for the starting pitching staff. Depending on any off season trades we're looking at possibly. Schultz, Sandlin , Smith, Thorpe, McDougal, Martin, Burke, Castillo or even Vasil and Taylor. Fedde could sign elsewhere but he may want to stay here where he's pitched best.

Hope it's nothing serious. Burke looked very good even after the long 6 run inning he gave up 1 unearned run because Colson called for a popup and flubbed it. The 2 9th inning runs given up by Richard's ( thanks @Buehrle>Wood ) were also unearned because of a Vargas error.

There are a lot of people with questionable behavior around. That is not a particular trait of only the Sox organization .That is something that never changes. There are probably dozens of people in front offices, coaches and players with hostile attitudes towards women and mentally abusive to other because being the "BOSS" allows you to discipline and try to get better performance in many different ways. Very little of it is apparent enough to get someone fired. Shirley has probably acted that way his whole life and it's usually overlooked . I'm glad their Human Resources Dept. was able to take the problem seriously and move it up the chain of command where action could be taken. I could look at this website and recount plenty of sexual "jokes" about women in general. Boys will be boys stuff but being tolerant of it and watching it spread because it's ok when no when says anything about it is also wrong.

Pitching and hitting came through. Not so much the defense but lets hope that's all out of the way in 1 game. Peter's head up running opened the door for that big 6 run 6th. Teel showing signs of life helps from the left side while Mune is essentially clueless. Did a real nice job behind the plate too. Great bounce back from Burke after his horrid start last game.

I don't get it. This is a White Sox fan site right ? I mean we're supposed to be White Sox supporters. I find it so odd and genuinely disturbing that certain people thrive or appear to be in their element when their favorite team is going through a rough stretch. Is there a point to calling out people who basically root for the team all the time ?

That kid Esmerlyn Valdez is going to be very very good. He took a pitch that a lot of hitters want to pull for a HR and he did exactly what a pull hitter would do, he pulled his hands in but he inside outed his swing instead of getting the barrel out front and still barrelled it up to go oppo taco. OK Sox time to wake up and get some runs. Golden opportunity to gain a game on a couple teams.

Sabermatricians have gone over this a lot and say that in the 9th inning it's a sound move if you follow certain criteria. Use it in the 9th not before. Use it in the positions where range makes a difference. The argument is that managers miscalculate the math and timing of the strategy like taking out a high OBP guy in the 8th where it might make a difference in extra innings so yes you say some things that make sense but that's on the manager using it too early for the most part. The strategy itself is mathematically sound. You're not breaking any new ground here just because you're angry about it.

Not sure how you reach this conclusion, because you can't remember defense ? Defense has always come in 3rd place behind, hitting and pitching but great defense helps win plenty of game be it with those originally on the field when the game starts or on the field at the end as replacements. Asking anyone to recall instances that are generally forgotten because they are extremely difficult to measure is silly . Hardly anyone ever says wow if it wasn't for that defensive replacement I don't think the guy he replaced gets to that ball. Also it's just another out in some cases but because you eliminate outs you POTENTIALLY eliminate runs. Let's say you don't make that great catch and don't get that out and a team then has a 2 out rally to win. It's not just one of those things. Outs are important . If errors can lose you games then great defense in any inning can win them. Missing a cutoff man may not be an error but you give up extra bases and extra outs and it leads to runs. Did you forget how baseball is actually played and all the things people complain about on the margins that lose games. Every baseball player who ever played would disagree that yea baseball people are stupid it doesn't help to bring in 1 or 2 guys to help protect a lead defensively. Can it backfire ? Of course ! Baseball is like that because no player is perfect but like with a lot of baseball and sports in general you're looking for small statistical advantages everywhere. a taller guy may rob a HR when a shorter guy wouldn't have , it's the same with catches by any fielder. A faster OF might reach a ball a slower OF wouldn't or the guy with the better jump reading the ball off the bat. A more experienced OF might let a single drop rather than try for a spectacular catch that leads to a double or triple like we've seen from Braden too often lately. These things can happen in any inning. How often do you see a play where they trade an out for a run ? It's that small statistical advantage at the end of games that will some times make the difference.
