  1. I think all of you should be as ashamed of yourselves as the guy who called it by the name we all understand should not be used. This always seems to be the case that instead of educating, we voice our disgust and that leads nowhere. If the ignorant need correcting do it. Educate them. By voicing your disgust you are only saying "Look at me I am an enlightened person. " We all must do our part to make the world a better place and shouting opposition is better than nothing but not as good as applying rational thought and education or in many instances re-education to the process. Instead of using your own words that might show your disdain use a well written article on the subject such as this one. https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/23074/
  2. And this surprisingly is where you , me and the majority of the board who voted feels. Many of us cannot say who we would hire but we know who we wouldn't hire. You want the transition to a new manager to be as smooth as possible. To accomplish this you eliminate controversial figures, therefore, no LaRussa, Hinch or Cora. After that you start the interview process with Bochy, Alomar, Quatraro and whoever else you are supposed to interview per league mandate and who fit the criteria that Hahn laid out in his initial press conference after firing RR. Let everything run its course. Show you took the time necessary to make a wise decision to make a high percentage of your players, organization and fans applaud the decision and the process.
  3. Three Dog Night, one of their many great songs. Oh I never been to England but I kinda like the Beatles !
  4. If White Sox ownership/management can piss even you off, now you understand how many of us here have been feeling for years. They aren't a group to put much faith into.
  5. D) None of the above
  6. And I am really not saying that LaRussa would be the cause of all that . 2-7 are my normal view. Right when we start thinking Sox management might finally have opened their eyes those eyes start looking in the wrong direction . Sox ownership is Lucy holding the football and we are Charlie Brown falling for the same trick again and again as Lucy pulls the football away when Charlie Brown tries to kick it and ends up flat on his back . Call it the carrot, the brass ring, the con man's best weapon is the mark wanting that elusive thing of value.
  7. I find the wanting Hinch as repulsive as wanting Larussa .I mean you might as well consider Ozzie Guillen while you're at it if you are looking for a controversial hire.
  8. !. Sox hire Tony LaRussa 2. Sox fans look for silver lining 3. Sox fans get aluminum lining. 4. Some major young pieces get traded. 5. Sox miss the playoffs. 6. Fans continue to look for silver linings. 7. Repeat 5 and 6 again and again.
  9. Not sure someone of Reinsdorfs age ever considers his nuts on the line. Every morning he can be vertical is the most joyous part of his day.
  10. Nailed it. Tweet it everywhere . Maybe leave out the part about violence from TA though.
  11. I agree with this a lot but I can always in my mind come up with something against the general consensus that managers don't win or lose a lot of games for you. Every decision has a consequence that no one can see it's true effects. Maybe it's a ripple that fades into still waters or maybe that ripple becomes a tidal wave. Can a show of confidence or lack thereof in a young player turn a career around that turns a team around ? Generally that answer is no but you just never know. Probably watched It's a Wonderful Life one too many times growing up .
  12. Is there a press conference scheduled for Thursday or is all of this based on the rumors. I'd like to think you are right and I'd prefer neither but I'm not running the ship and I learned a long time ago to say I disagree and then wait to see how it all plays out. There's a lot of reasons not to like either one and a quick announcement just screams lack of vision moving forward and that usually is not something to look forward to but I'll leave the door open that in a year or 2 I could be wrong.
  13. It's like Joy coming to grips with Sadness in Inside Out with Anger, Disgust and Fear taking over for brief periods.
  14. Just saying you can't make a blanket statement like the more pitchers you use the better chance one will screw it up. It's baseball. Sometimes your offense will cover for pitchers mistakes and sometime pitchers will cover for the offense. Sometimes all it takes is 1 bad pitch or even one out on a bad pitch or a fluke hit, broken bat, dying quail on a great pitch to win a game.
  15. The Dodgers used 7 pitchers you know and it didn't cost them
  16. Just reported that Justin Turner was taken out of the game tonight for a positive Covid test.
  17. You put it on non pay TV and viewership would be higher. Just because people don't want to pay for it doesn't mean there isn't interest in it. It's supposed to be America's game let America watch it for free. You get bombarded during a game with commercials telling you what you should buy. I have to buy a TV to watch anything .I have to pay a monthly subscription to watch cable or premium TV. American's are poor and in debt because they are immersed in this "buy" culture. They cant cook, they won't read, they can't grow their own food, they can't start a fire without matches because no one teaches how to just survive . Very few have actual skills. If you want something you buy it, steal it or take it violently. America's enemies just have to figure out how to turn our electricity off and we will all, freeze, starve or kill each other. Ha ! Oops old man yells at cloud . Never mind we're all good . I'm gonna sit in my recliner have a beer and watch the old boob tube and get fat and stupid.
  18. I don't think it says anything except perhaps the people in charge were trying to get guys to play to their norms because then your lineup is much better for the playoffs. Unfortunately it went on too long. They started the season with 3 catchers but abandoned it thus cutting down on time McCann, Grandal, Collins or even Mercedes could DH. The Sox had 2 years to give Yermin a chance and nothing. They did the same shit with EE way too long. When you are 37 and playing a short season excuses for slow starts don't apply and they certainly shouldn't have applied halfway into the season. The Sox had hitters on the bench or not even on the team way too much and a great fielding, fast , grindy , hustling RF in Engel who was also hitting pretty well. McCann stepped up and proved he wasn't a fluke , Engel stepped up and neither was rewarded with more playing time. You have to sit guys who aren't producing or just get rid of them. RR and Hahn made some very bad decisions for the last 2 years regarding playing time for guys leaving or non performance.
  19. Shifting is just the playing smart defense. It has always been that way. With power hitters OF ers move back with singles hitters they moved in . You don't think the Of ers shifted on Babe Ruth to the right ? Basically shifting less is just dumb baseball. You have reams of data telling you where hitters hit the ball. Of course you are going to shift. It would be like telling a pitcher he cannot pitch away from a pull hitter. You play the game according to the strengths and weaknesses of your opponent . It's called strategy. That is inherent in any sport . Deal with it .
  20. On the other hand you are coming off as some kind of psychoanalytical debate team coach infatuated with your own intellect. Maybe you 2 should just stop but who will be the adult and not insist on the last word.
  21. Well Ken yes bunting certainly is a lost skill. When you have the 3rd baseman playing SS , they basically are telling the hitter there is a free hit available if you can bunt. All you have to do is bunt hard enough to get it past the pitcher and keep it fair. You would think with lefthanders having a built in advantage by being closer to 1st base should all be taught this moreso than righthanded hitters. It apparently is harder to do and there just arent a lot of lefty hitters who would rather try to execute a perfect bunt than just swing away thinking the odds are about the same of getting a hit and surely you cant hit a HR by bunting. The other reason to do this every so often is, if done properly a few times maybe they dont shift on you as much. Im not sure how true that is. Does anyone recall any lefty who changed the shift against him by bunting for a couple of hits ? I think a hitter would have to show he can do it pretty regularly in order to get teams to stop shifting so dramatically on LH pull hitters.
  22. Its sunny southern california , you used to live here. Would seem very odd here if atmospheric conditions and weather were just bad on Sundays. After hearing from you I am now convinced more than ever that it's the NFL's doing.
  23. Well I don't have a fancy antenna but since I can get those channels on every day but Sunday the strength of my antenna shouldn't matter right ? Does the number of people watching have any effect ? Shouldn't the signal strength be the same regardless of how many are watching ? I can watch CBS and Fox all week but Sunday.
  24. I am quite bummed since I cut the cord that I can't watch The World Series on Network TV. No link here to watch it online either. I also find it very odd that I can watch the channels that football is played on but I mysteriously don't get reception of those channels when Sunday rolls around. I thought free TV was supposed to be free . I can't help but think somehow the NFL is making it harder to get the games on Network TV. Isn't that supposed to not happen ?
  25. Isn't that just O'Dowds way of saying the new fangled ways that require math and computer analysts is a lot of knowledge but you still need older baseball lifer types who have years of experience insights and wisdom in areas of the game that require teaching , mental approach, lifestyle advice etc etc.
