  1. Oh trust me I love when the Sox win and I cancelled my DirectV baseball package this year because I just don't get as involved watching losses but if you go with your family or have young children you HAVE to make the experience more important than the game itself. If the game itself sucks you take the kids around the park as part of the whole experience. Plenty of ways to make the experience more enjoyable.
  2. Just enjoy your favorite team and being with your family and the whole experience. Winning is secondary, Stay positive and don't fret about what you can't control. If they win, great, if not, it's part of the plan.
  3. LOL hey you must need some instant gratification ! Shame on you.
  4. Again, was the point of the entire thread what the OP said or the majority of the thread that followed ? Because it sure seems like you all thought everyone was posting like the OP.
  5. Ha I'm sure he has just you can't tell with his frame . I should know i have the same body as him.
  6. He'll probably put on some pounds too. Who doesn't gain weight after age 21 ?
  7. He shouldn't be the only one. If you can't beat them piss them off
  8. But they all got a lot of laughs pretending it . Never let the facts stand in the way of a good chuckle,
  9. Yea that was what I saw watching on MLB thats using the Cubs feed.
  10. He looked safe on the replay. Hand got in there before he got tagged on the head
  11. Yep and I made that point earlier in the thread but I didn't list the PA for one of his stops because my computer was acting stupid and I wanted to add it but browser was freezing up and pages taking too long to load. I'm still kind of pissed this thread went sideways when in the Future Sox thread no one was given any grief about a call up this year for Eloy. Rabbit was like the 1st one to say it and some of the same guys yucking it up in this thread and painting many of us with a broad brush were in that thread but didn't have the stones to say anything then, But once the sharks smell blood they all join in the feeding frenzy.
  12. Yea I don't know how this got so out of hand. Only the OP wanted Eloy brought up now. Then a good writer makes a comparison that isn't really accurate and pretends there's a whole herd of us that are anti rebuild and furious. Contrast whats going on in this thread with the thread in Future Sox for the May 9th games and it's pretty much the same thing which is it's time for a bunch of guys to advance to the next level including Eloy moving up to AAA. It makes no sense to keep arguing this because the " keep Kopech and Eloy down on the farm till next year" crowd has annointed that post as gold when in actuality it addresses very few people here. Most of us are just saying bring them up when they are ready and that might be this year, All I can say at this point is we'll see how it plays out.Keeping them down because of service time isn't the only consideration at play here even if it is very important but so is rewarding those players if they really force the issue and getting ready for signing some free agents by carrying some momentum and possibly creating a some buzz going into next year. But if you haven't read that Future Sox thread from 5/9 start on page 2. Some of the most respected guys on Soxtalk are talking about and thinking Eloy could be up in July/August and I didn't see one person in that thread calling them out for it.
  13. Actually got Eloy at just the right time when he was hitting . 271 in the Cubs system . He's been about .350 since then if you combine all his stats with A+ , AA and the Dominican league since then.
  14. Yeah great post except there are very few anti rebuilding and furious that we are bad people here. There are a few but most of us just question the front offices' track record when it comes to putting a FINISHED product on the field when the rebuild is supposed to, ya know, actually be finished. Exactly
  15. Or perhaps you were not clear enough since called up usually means to the big leagues and instant gratification is a term that means, well ,right away. The Kopech speculation was just people letting their imaginations run wild. The more reasonable of us including me rebuffed that notion pretty strongly. Whether you like it or not Kopech and JImenez will be called up at some point this year unless they both start sucking very soon or get injured. It's just a matter of when. Will that then be considered instant gratification by the front office ?
  16. These 2 posts pretty much say everything when it comes to signing big name free agents. Most want 2 things to win a World Series and money. Someone like Hosmer already won his. Being terribly bad going into this crucial period isn't exactly ideal, nor is having a long tradition of losing, sparse crowds and no history of spending big money and egomaniacs running the front office with their own history of losing, bad history of drafting and developing talent who are way too comfortable in their jobs.
  17. Ok please be fair yes most of us said this year but your original post just said called up and instant gratification. No we don't want him called up (right now) for instant gratification we we want him to go to AAA and come up when/if he mashes there. That isn't instant gratification that is reasonable for us, the players on the team now and any potential free agents to get a glimpse of the future and mostly to Eloy because he will deserve it.
  18. Just think in a year you will be the resident expert in the UK on baseball besides any transplanted Americans there who actually like baseball,
  19. According to google translate it means salary in Estonian , Lithuanian and Latvian. In Bosnian, Polish.Slovenian and Macedonian it means stick.. In Bulgarian it means baton. In Czech it mean bat. In Indonesian and Sudanese it means hold. I think the message is clear.
  20. Oh please it's garbage. No one is saying bring him up besides WBwhatever We're saying get him up to the next level.
  21. Eloy Jimenez Age 20 between A+ and AA .312 .379 .568 .947 369 PA Eloy Jimenez extracted from above in AA Birmingham .353 .397 .559 .956 Eloy Jimenez Age 20 in the Dominican Winter League who some say is like AA+ .368 .443 .676 1.120 79 PA This year Eloy Jimenez Age 21 in AA Birmingham .346 .375 .704 1.079 88 PA Just sayin' he's right, AA isn't a challenge for him. He needs/wants to be challenged. Time for AAA. And if he falters there( which he won't) then those wanting to wait til 2019 might have some ammo. Just remember Charlotte is a hitters park, Birmingham isn't.
  22. There's just so much to respond about in this thread. There's just no way the Sox can wait til 2019 to call up JImenez. Many keep saying if he gets really hot and forces the issue but he's been playing like a man possessed for a long time now. Just as with Big Frank he could come up now and probably be the best or nearly the best hitter on the Sox. Sure send him to AAA for a month and when he wrecks some pitching careers there bring him up right after the All Star game . I sure wouldn't want to piss him off. He has the desire and has been forcing the issue with his bat and his words. Yea we all know it makes no sense in a shitty season but once he's up it rewards the current players with a few more wins, a glimpse of the future and hope for 2019. It also makes Eloy very happy,If you had Mike Trout would you want to make him angry or happy ? I choose happy.
  23. So getting back on topic I can easily see the reasons for keeping Kopech down but anyone expecting the Sox to wait til next year on JImenez are going to be disappointed. He wants to be here and he is forcing the issue right now with his hitting, He's been going wild in AA . He should be promoted like right now to AAA to start a chain reaction of some of the better prospects promotions also, Yes it's early in the minor league season but guys like Zavala , Collins, Basabe, Dunning, Adolfo and a few others already could be easily promoted. Talent forces the issue, The Braves have/had the 3 youngest guys in the majors in Albies, Acuna and Sorotka. Some times the talent just forces the issue and Eloy is at that point . He should be in Charlotte like right now and a month later when he also destroys AAA pitching he should be here.
  24. Maybe he's looking for some kind of sign that Sox management has a clue on how to pick talent and how to develop it. Burdi, Burger, Fulmer, Rodon and Collins recent revelation that he pretty much fixed himself to get out of his slump still has most of us wondering about the Sox talent evaluators. I know injuries happen and some of those guys were just unlucky but it's got me half expecting some kind of Hansen implode once he gets back.
