  1. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) I know this trade would be for the here and now, but would this hurt Kenny's relationship with the Florida GM? He seems to have good working relationships with most so I'm not sure if this would be something he would risk. It's a small risk for big gain IMO but I would still think its a factor. Damn the man. Save the Empire.
  2. Per Roto: Track what goes on here.
  3. Finally. Now, maybe the national sports shows can get back to something we actually care about. ...gosh, I hate the NBA. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-k...ov=ap&type=lgns
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) Sorry if this is elsewhere. A few interesting ones in here, FWIW. http://www.nj.com/mets/ledger/index.ssf?/b...7070.xml&coll=1 Yeah, we've been over this, but just don't see anything happening. Kenny isn't going to give up Hernandez--the "prolific" playoff pitcher--for nothing.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) I'd rather have Burnett, but considering that we might not be able to sign him to an extension, this might not be a bad idea if we can't. Can anyone tell me Wagner's contract status? Not only is he a FA at the end of this season, he has mentioned retirement on multiple occasions.
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) I'm nervous about a tired pitching staff headed into a series highlighted by the Cuban Pitching Crisis. Hopefully they go deep into games because they damn need to As old and tired as that saying is when referring to Contreras and Hernandez, you actually gave me quite the chuckle. Well done. If Kenny doesn't do ANYTHING at the deadline, some eyebrows will be raised...some higher than others--think Anthrax.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Carmen doing play by play?? I know you didn't say it but he was awesome doing that during spring training. Exactly, if she was referring to Carmen doing play-by-play--and, to her credit, I don't think she was--she couldn't have been further from the truth. To quote Hawk: "You were the best rookie I've ever heard in the booth." On more than a few occasions, Hawk has told Carmen he has a bright future in the world of broadcasting.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) It was Carmen's... he screwed it up when he attacked Jerry That was all Silvy's doing. I would find it very hard to believe JR has any ill will towards DeFalco. If you were listening, Silverman really did conduct the interview under false pretenses.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Nope, I retired. My own free will. That's a hard thing to do: retire while still on top. Rocky Marciano Mickey Mantle ...now, SS2K5.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Or when Crede got tossed in Oakland after all of the HBP BS. WHo is the ump today? He is horrible. Home Plate Umpire today is Tim Timmons.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I know I am not an official voice anymore, but I gotta say, HELL YA!!! I think it would be great. What happened with the red, big man? ...please tell me this has nothing to do with Juggs.
  12. That was absolutely awful. These umps are soooooooooooooooo sensative. I haven't thrown kids out for MUCH MUCH worse than that.
  13. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Who sits there "MVP" 2 straight games, do u think Derek Lee sits 2 straight, not unless he is injured, so Ozzie dont pull this s*** again like u did last night You did see what happened to Derek Lee towards the end of last year did you not?
  14. Hey guys, I actually have a Soxtalk interview coming up with Bryan. I was going to wait to announce this and all, but if you guys have any questions you would like me to ask Bryan, please post away. Would you guys even be interested in an interview with Bryan? I figured we could ask him about life with the Sox and how it has changed his life for the better/worse. It ya'll are interested, it would probably get done within the next week or so.
  15. Yeah, I'm starting to feel the same things. You have to hope he's going to make at least some minor move, because if he leaves this current roster alone, we will be questioning Kenny and his deadline moves--or lack theirof--forever.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) At first, just from watching Iguchi this season, you wouldn't think of him as the MVP. However, the more you see Willie play, the more you appreciate what Iguchi has done this season. We sure take for granted his contributions. Perfect.
  17. Wow. You have to hope it's something as "simple" as a concussion and after a night or two of rest he'll bounce back. This is the number one guy I wanted this off-season. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
  18. This may sound odd, but a good friend of mine actually knows Kenny Williams and he told her he was thinking long and hard about making a bad move to hurt the ballclub. Jesus H. these threads are getting awful. :headshake :headshake :puke
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Its silly to equate grades with leadership. Not every 4.0 student is Napolean, and not every non-academic can not lead. The only way to measure leadership is to look at performance. Good leaders generally do more with less, where as bad leaders generally do less with more. SB Then, Smith would still come out on top. Smith took a team with considerably less talent to a BCS bowl. Don't even bother bringing coaches up because Meyer and Spurrier are a scratch. We're not in the hudles, but from all I've read, Smith's on-field and off-field intangibles were second to none.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Semi-serious question. How does one measure leadership? Well, when Grossman was hitting the bong down in Gainsville, Smith was in the taperoom studying film or getting a 3.8+ GPA and graduating in three years' time. That's a start.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Hmm...it never even made it to the part where you talked about the team itself. It basically ended right after the stadium talk. You kinda ended up sounding like his best buddy! Awwwwwwwwwwwww damnit!!!!!!!!! Frickin' Phil the Show-killer. I was powerless in that situation...hang wif' em
  22. The thought of trading for Lyle Overbay at this point in the year scares me to death. I'm worried Doug Melvin would eat Kenny for dinner.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Ha...I thought that was you... Although you were a little too agree-ey, but it was probably the only way they would let you on. Yeah I don't know when they cut me off, but I was about to tear him to shreads on the successes of the team. For the most part, I agreed with him about the stadium. How far did they let me go?
