Well it's just not our day. I think it's safe to say that we aren't going to win this one.

Simple base hit. Don't swing for the fences, just a base hit. C'mon Jim!

Mack hustles it out and Peralta just underhands it slowly.

Offman Reports
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) What the hell are we supposed to do with Sanders or Soriano? Soriano's production would be nice, but we need a CF. Probably move him to LF and have Pods play CF(I'd hate that) or have Soriano play CF as he was rumored to be able to play there, but no one really has ever seen it.

arow coming back?
They won't trade him. He's their new "star attraction". I think he's leading jersey sales for Philly this year by a nice margin. I'd say Abreu and Burrell are traded before A-Row is even discussed.

Anderson's game saving catch last night...
I loved the play and automatically started clapping. Told ya he would be great defensively in the OF.

Stupid comment by Dan Bernstein
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) That is just ridiculous, inconsistency does not lead a pitcher to a 6.19 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP on June 9th. s***ty pitching does. A 5th starter gets you a 4.50 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. It has been inconsistancy that's lead to that. He's had a few decent starts and he's had a few starts where he's gotten rocked.

Stupid comment by Dan Bernstein
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) I just wanted to chime in that I also think that the White Sox as they are currently constituted can't/won't win the WS this year. There are more holes in the bullpen than there are good pitchers. Plus, SS and CF aren't just holes; they are voids. Most good teams with holes have players hitting under .250 in a position. We have a couple starters under the Mendoza Line. Also, Garland is pitching like a bad #5 starter and Garcia is pitching like an ok #4 starter. These things don't add up to even getting to the WS. I disagree about Garland. He's pitching like a pretty good 5th starter despite how bad the rest of the starters are making him look. Garland would probably be a 4 on most playoff teams and a 3 or even 2 on bad teams. His inconsistancy is what is killing him this year.

QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) Hang on, how is this bullpen awful? its not that bad people, Cliff really skews it. it might just be one piece shy. Lets do a little run down. Bobby Jenks - Dominate, he looks to have returned to midseason form, simply put NASTY! 3.20ERA, 17/18 saves, 32SO, 7BB 1IBB , 1.11WHIP Matt Thornton - 98mph fastball and Left Handed!, looks to have turned a corner under Coop. Give him some more time he has already had more success here than he ever had with Seatle, and look how good Jose came on after the second half, it takes time. 4.50ERA, 19SO, 9BB 3IBB, 1.44WHIP Neal Cotts - Simply put hes good, not nearly as good as last year but still good. 3.42ERA, 14SO, 7BB 1IBB, 1.14WHIP Brandon McCarthy - With consistant work hes dominating when he gets a feel for his change/curve, i along with other feel Ozzie has mishandled him thus far. 5.01ERA, 21SO, 10BB 2IBB, 1.30WHIP Agustin Montero - Is not the answer , hes a former juicer and a AAAA for life, BUST! Sean Tracey - Its make or break time for Sean with regards to the SOX, he has great "stuff" but the one thing that has eluded him in his career thus far is comand, under Coop i think that will change and he will live up to his potential. Cliff Politte - If he has truly been hurt, and thats the reason for this DL stint and not inflamed ERA(7.40), then maybe he can comeback and be the Cliff of '04/'02 and if he can do that this bullpen might have solved itself, because last year was definatly a career year and im thankful for it. So in ending with the bullpen its not that bad as it looks. As you stated the starting pitching has underachieved and there have been some defensive lapses that have exposed are weaker points. Also the offense at times has slumped , that hasn't helped. I'd look at this team as a glass half full, we're 36-23 and we haven't even clicked on all levels, hopefully that will change in the near future and when it does watch out. You post their ERA's and expect us to change our opinions on the bullpen? In fact, I think it's way worse than what I thought before you posted this. The bullpen is a problem. SS is a problem. CF is a problem. I'd say Garland/Buehrle are the least of their problems, but I'd like to see some consistancy out of them. Quite simply though, right now this team isn't playing championship caliber and hasn't played for 90% of the season.

Stupid comment by Dan Bernstein
I'm going to agree with Bernstein. We aren't going to win with Mack as our everyday CF. We're not going to win with Pods hitting as bad as he is. We're not going to win with Uribe if he can't even put down a bunt. We're not going to win if Greg Walker continues to tell him not to do the leg kick which was very stupid. We're not going to win with Buehrle and Garland being inconsistant. We're not going to win with all the constant brainfarts.

Griffey Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) He did however pull something which is why he missed almost an entire month last season. Hell, he only played 8 games in April this year due to injury, I love the guy as much as anyone on here but there's no way he stays healthy for the rest of the season, the odds are greatly against him. Well personally it wouldn't matter to me if he had to sit out a couple of weeks simply because Anderson would get a shot to develop while Griffey rests. For me, it makes too much sense to get him, which is why we won't.

Griffey Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) He got on base 5 times today, to bad he really couldn't play CF for the rest of the season without tearing something. He didn't tear anything last year.

The Official 6-6-6 thread
I actually wish something would happen as crazy as that sounds. I'm sick of all these dates coming up and me having to tell people to shutup because nothing's going to happen and then having to tell them I told them so. I would like to eat crow for once.

Indianapolis lands Big Ten tourney
I heard of this when they last had the tourney in Chicago. Basically, coaches think that players will get in a lot less trouble hanging in Indianapolis than in Chicago.
