  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Sure, I will put "nitetrain8601 is my god" in my sig if Garland is kept. You do the same for me if Garland is traded. Deal.
  2. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) pffft, all this is so 2 months ago in the college world. Bingo.
  3. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) I'm actually in the boat that thinks Garland stays, but will be dealt by the trade deadline. But who the hell really knows. That's what I think if he's dealt at all.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) I won't have to worry about it. Garland will be gone. Care to make an avy bet?
  5. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) Uh, Walker was the hitting coach in '04 as well. I think '04 was more of an abberation for A-Row. I doubt his decline offensively had much to do with Walker. In '04 Walker wasn't trying to get guys to just pull the ball. Last year he was which is a main reason why most of our guys couldn't hit a slider low and away if you gave them a 50 foot bat. He also tried to get Arow to hit for more power which backfired.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) LOL, you don't actually believe him do you? It's just smoke-blowing. KW isn't going to come out and say Garland is on the trading block because that would hurt his leverage. And what will you say when he does keep them?
  7. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) We know how Kenny is and there is a good chance he's just blowing smoke here, but these comments still seem noteworthy... Vazquez officially headed to South Side Some other good quotes from Vazquez as well. Told some of you that.
  8. Probably 33. That was his old number with the Yanks.
  9. Good signing. They are a threat to the White Sox next year. I hope someone on that team blows out there knees.
  10. Hey, how come the chat doesn't work?
  11. QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Walker's not going to touch Thome's swing. No hitting coach is going to tell a future hall of famer how to swing the bat. He'll try to assist him. That's all. Walker has touched everyone's swing so they become dead pull-hitters. I think that's a major reason why A-Row's production went down last year.
  12. I would've contributed 20 bucks to the cause to get that displayed at Jimbo's instead of HC's.
  13. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 07:28 AM) FWIW, today's Daily Herald quotes AJ, who said he talked to Garland last week, and Garland definitely wants to stay, but "if he gets 9 or 10 million, that's a break in the budget and somebody else will have to go." That seems like a fair amount for Garland. The thing is that the years. I bet White Sox brass isn't willing to go beyond 3 years with anyone not named Mark Buehrle.
  14. Seems like an even deal to me. I think Patterson still might be good outside of Wrigley. I think the Cubs just jacked with the kid too much.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Didn't think of it that way. I dunno, as long as he works on getting back in shape and getting down with the signs and what not, he should be fine. Hopefully he does just show up to continue his rehab stint.
  16. Bring him to camp and make sure Jim Thome is his best buddy.(Borchard that is).
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) :headshake The way I think of it is the earlier he's there, the more time he spends with Greg Walker. The more time he spends with Greg Walker, the worse off he is IMHO.
  18. Anyone going to be in the chat tonight?
  19. They should've kept Willie. He looked good after he came up.
  20. Both these guys just want market value. Don't blame them, blame teams like the Blue Jays and Mets who have inflated the price over the years. The days of #2 or #3 starters signing for under 10 mil isn't happening. We got lucky with Freddy Garcia. You're probably looking at 13 mil at the least for a guy like Garland. Contreras will be somewhere between 10 and 12.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) LOL. I was just going to let it go after a post like that, but it appears you don't want to. All anyone needs to know is away from Arlington, he is .238/.296/.396/.692 with 23 fewer HR, 42 less walks, 9 MORE k's, in 21 MORE ABs. Against lefties, he is .222/.271/.353/.624. So effectively he is one of the worst hitters in the league unless he is at home in Arlington facing a righty. If you want a player like that, fine, go for it. I think that means he is not all that great. And thats the last you'll hear from me on it. If he comes, I'll root for him like no other, but I will worry about 3b. I'm done with this subject. It is obvious we disagree. Don't forget the pre-allstar/post-allstar game splits. That's the most telling thing. He sucks in the 2nd half.
