  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Marrioti is a bandwagon jumper and only prints what sells. Hawk is behind the mic , living and dying with this f***ing team. Hawk gets paid for it , yeah. But, he is one of the few who watch every damn motherf***ing play. As hard as it is, at times. 2004's mid season nose dive... Hawk was there. 2003's september collapse.. Guess f***ing what? he was there. 2002's nightmare season... Hawk was there. 2001's 14-29 start.... Hawk was there too. every play. good times and his share of the bad. While most of us can turn off the tv during a seven game losing streak, Hawk watches every f***ing play. I will side with Hawk over someone who just conveniently decided to join in on our success. So if Hawk were to say Abortions should be legalized and Mariotti were to disagree, you're siding with Hawk all the way because of him being there every play for the White Sox?? No thats dumb. And don't say you can't compare these situations because one has to do with real life and the other entertainment because this originated from Ozzie saying something that had nothing to do with being related to baseball and the same with Hawk. You have that ride or die mentality. I could give a s*** less of Hawk owned the whole team, got us any player we wanted like the Yanks and gave each fan 100 bucks, right is right and wrong is wrong. What Hawk did was wrong and hypocritical. Nothing that has to do with baseball will change my opinion on that.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) Maybe it tells us the Reds ceo is lying. Usually a CEO wouldn't lie about it like that. He would say, "Oh yeah, we're just not interested in moving Griffey at this time and that's why so and so will not be accepted."
  3. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) I dont feel like looking for the answer but why isnt iguchi playing lately? Prolly injured or Ozzie is just messing with the lineup for no reason.
  4. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Well sorry to get everybody hopes down but on Sporting News Radio they said that the ceo of the reds said that no deal had even been offered to them. That sucks. Basically tells us that KW was lying. At least that's the impression I got in his latest interview with the guy from Comcast and with statements like, "we're happy with what got us here." I'm utterly dissapointed because I don't forsee the White Sox making the playoffs next year.
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) You don't know what brews on behind the scenes. Believe me, you and I do not know the entire story. I don't see why this is a reason for hawk to lose his job. If hawk is gone. I, personally , would start a bring back hawk campaign. I would never listen to audio on tv again. When I watch a game I feel I am watching it with a good buddy when I listen to Hawk. I do not care if hawk is 100% wrong. I would never side with the devil: Jay Marrioti. I know he won't get fired. I'm hoping he retires soon. He's a god awful announcer. I like his hawkisms and all, but he still is extremely homeristic. I rather see Steve Stone in there with a Len Kasper. Unlike you, I'll side with someone I feel is right. Mariotti did nothing to Hawk that I remember reading in yesterday's article. Hawk just went on attack mode. I don't see Hawk ripping Michael Smith from Around the Horn & some Boston Newspaper I think it was for agreeing with Mariotti's assesment. I don't see Hawk ripping anyone else on ESPN or the guy who wrote the original article. He was very hypocritical for blasting Mariotti because he had the chance to while claiming that's what Mariotti does(who has been praising the White Sox nationally for some time now).
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) I got sand in my cl*t!!! Baseball is a man's sport . Deal with what he said. I understand if Hawk was attacking Mariotti for being stupid, but it was a legit article. And Hawk was just spewing stupid s***.
  7. He'll probably sign with Miami or PHX, but supposedly Detroit is going after him too.
  8. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) really. hmm, I wonder what he could do against a real offense like the Sox. lol Perfect Game with 24 K's while the other 3 outs are popouts by Joe Crede.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) That's still not the point. It is demeaning and insensitive. I understand that. I understand both sides and I know the general public won't so it would look very hypocritical.
  10. QUOTE(forrestg @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) If this a rumor " A trade can be made for a player if he's on the major league 25 or 40 man roster only if both players have made cleared waivers. ROgowski is still on our 40 man roster that means he will have to go through waivers to be traded which i don't thnk will happen because he will be claimed by some other team with a worse record than Cinci. Young is not on the 40 man roster so if there will be a trade it will not be ROGO going there needs to be another minor leaguer to be sent to the reds. Possible, I don't know anymore. I think the cell would become more exciting than wrigley, Yankee stadium and Fenway park combined if Griffey comes and is effective for the stretch and the playoffs. Honel or Hernandez(our only decent C prospect) are guys being talked about in place of Rogo.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) Yup. Having a Gold Glove means everything. I mean, Derek Jeter has at least one Gold Glove -- I think several -- and that CERTAINLY means he's better than a guy like Juan Uribe defensively. Right? GMAFB. Mark Kotsay and Aaron Rowand are the two best defensive CFers currently playing in the AL, and if neither of them wins it, it will be a f***ing sham. Did I say it does? No, so get off my f***ing back.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Maybe you don't find it offensive, and that's good for you. However, many Latinos do, as this surfaced a few years back when a newspaper actually publish quotes by a Latino player by spelling it phonetically. If memory serves correctly, the player may have been Sosa. Anyway, the s*** did hit the fan. However, my main point is that we have a double standard in here as to what is allowed by the posters and what will get them jumping down your throat for being 'insensitive'. I don't find it offensive either and I'm latino and I know tons of latinos who don't find it offensive, young and old.
  13. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) The sox don't lose because of the fans... Got that right.
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) Here's to hoping that you go back to the Cubs board where you belong. Never was part of a Cubs board and never will be. It's funny to laugh about your lack of knowledge on me. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) because he's not an ace Statement made no sense whatsoever. Not even as a joke. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) Our 3Bman is so underrated. And why do you think that?
  15. Hawk was over the top tonight and wrong. I honeslty hope Mariotti rips him a new one. Mariotti has actually been supportive of the White Sox these past few weeks. He also said stupid s*** about where would Griffey play again too. Here's hoping that you're gone Hawk.
  16. QUOTE(WhiteSox311 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) no i think its if your a major leaguer then you cant be a ptbnl....but since rogo is a minor leaguer that works out jus spiffy Nope, it's anyone on the 40 man roster because that question was asked specifically in regards to the Griffey situation.
  17. No, but I want it to. As far as your idea Dam8610, I heard I think on ESPN that it wouldn't be able to happen because a PTBNL can't be a part of the 40 man roster. This team needs him, but it won't happen.
  18. Already a thread on this, but I disagree on him knowing his stuff. Lots of times he pulled stuff out of his ass. He came across as just a casual fan. He'd say a lot of stuff out of his ass without looking up stats.
  19. QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) I just got back from a bar watching the game. I'm not surprised that we lost given the lineup tonite, but two things that bothered me. One, the shoddy ass camera work that led me to believe konerko hit a two run homerun. Two, crede should have knocked mauer into next week on the play at home. He had zero chance to slide around him. He should have put his chin down and went right thru him. Safe or out a message should have been sent right there. 2 Herniated Discs. I'd like to see you with 2 herniated discs and plow over my nephew and you could tell me if it won't give you a one way ticket to the hospital.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) We have got to lead the majors in fewest guys thrown out at home. Our outfielders have been simply awful at throwing guys out at home, and there's been plenty of plays where a good throw would have got the runner. What are you talking about?? According to Hawk, we have one of the best defensive OF's in the leagueeee. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) The bottom line is if you have a lineup with Timo Perez leading off, you're not going to score many runs. As aggressive as KW has been over his tenure, he really overestimated "chemistry" this season, and really is sitting on a team that if they make the playoffs will more than likely get ousted very quickly. The offense is pathetic. Think about it. If the pitching wasn't spectacular in NY they would have been swept. I agree strongly. I see a 1 and done for this team. Let's just hope we can make it there crawling.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Yeah, you also agreed with a troll but that's cool too. My stance on Rowand defensively is well documented, the guy will win a GG sometime in the next 3 years, I've watched every game this year plus last year and a lot of them in person. He gets amazing jumps on the ball and has above average closing speed. I don't want to see him diving all over the place in the outfield because a lot of the time it means you got a s*** jump or totally misjudged a ball. Rowand gets to a lot of balls and makes them look easy that others would be diving for. He also has an above average arm but with average to below average accuracy, which is really something he has to work on. I don't slurp Sox players simply because they play for the Sox, hell I don't even like that many players on the team at this point in time. I have seen Rowand play a lot of CF over the past two seasons along with a little RF last year, he's made amazing strides and is only going to get better. I don't doubt that he can be one, but he has some way to still go. He needs to get a more accurate arm and it wouldn't hurt if his arm was a little stronger.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Rowand needs to throw better in order to win a Gold Glove. If you look at guys like Hunter and Edmonds in CF, they have incredibly accurate arms in the outfield. Rowand's arm has been disappointing this season. Very true.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I still say the play that showed how this team played tonight happened earlier. Crede has a close play at the plate, he should of plowed over the catcher. That would of energized our team more than anything. Not only does it show the twins we can play hard, but it shows that we are the new badass on the block. But crede slows down as he gets to the plate, then tries some around move and is tagged out by 3 feet. If he plowed over Mauer its a closer play and gives us a chance to score. That to me, was a big tell in this game. Crede has 2 herniated discs. He's still doing better than Blum. He has no business trying to plow over anybody. I'm not excusing his piss poor hitting, but would you rather see Blum or Crede at 3b? I say Crede.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Timo. Is. Trash. PK made a huge baserunning mistake. Conteras wasn't good. Just ugly Contreras was good enough to win with a halfway decent offense. His career ERA is somewhere between 4 and 5. You should expect that type of performance from Count. Plus the fact that Dye could've saved a run by gunning down a guy at home with a decent throw he's capable of, Count pitched pretty good today.
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) I'm a diehard Sox fan, but I'm also a baseball "expert". I'll say this (and I'm sure I'll be bashed): I have absolutely no clue how the Sox are 12 games up on the Indians, and 15 on the Twins. It's one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever had in sports, because this is not a great Sox team we're talking about. I 2nd that. Prepare for the flamers to come out.
