SuperBowl LII
JT has a good backlog, which made it seem okay, but the way they cut up those songs was terrible, so much pumped through each song you couldn't make out what the hell was happening.

BP 101 lists 8 White Sox Prospects
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 09:17 AM) Burger eh? Highest publication on him I've seen. weird inverse of everyone else where they like our depth but hit our high impact depth (relatively lower on top guys, higher on next tier)

I miss commercials were just like "haha the goose drinks soda" and not "cancer is terrible, cocacola is there to support you with cancer"

SuperBowl LII
I was really glad Pederson coached that so aggressively and won. He needed every one of those extra points other coaches would have lost for the sake of "Staying in the game". Against a team like the patriots you have to maximize your scoring drives and try to do whatever possible to get ahead of their last drive. So much of the armchair coaching on important plays is result plays. Pass falls incomplete? "Shoulda run"! Run stopped short. "Shoulda passed!". But nothing more than "take the points!" and field position homers scream if a sound decision to go for it ends up not coming through. Had he called that aggressively and lost each one, woulda been real bad for a while.

Uh if he went pro that would suck hard. Your mizzou homerdom needs calibrating.

2017-2018 NFL Thread
I started following dabearsblog for the bears coaching search which was good but oh my god this “the eagles should trade Wentz if the eagles win the super bowl” is the dumbest series of arguments ever.

NCAA basketball thread 2017-18
Would have been real hard for mizzou to be more than a 50/50 bubble team without that win. Huge. Now if a certain guy could come back it would be great. End of games without a ball handler is torture.

White Sox Bullpen Battle
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 3, 2018 -> 01:02 AM) We sign Holland, we end up one or two spots away in the first round from drafting another Benintendi...creating the need to spend yet another $150-175 million (or Yelich equivalent talent load) on a premiere free agent. In that draft we could have just taken Happ.

JR now on MLB executive council
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 05:42 PM) I don't want to get rid of them, I just want us to get them Now that the draft and international are completely capped, I think they should be scrapped.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
I think the craziest thing is the Orioles are letting him play SS

Financial News
Oh, yeah I guess that makes sense.

Financial News
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 02:11 PM) Dow down 600+. VIX almost to 18 for the first time in forever. I was actually coming in here to ask about the VIX. Does the VIX always correspond so closely (timewise) to the dropoff? How forward looking is it?

White Sox Bullpen Battle
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 02:24 PM) Maybe. I believe Infante is older than both of those guys though as well. I guess that doesn't really matter though. It's not a big deal, but he was pretty good last year except for walks and the other guys are already on a minors deal.

2017-18 official NBA discussion thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 11:31 AM) Per Woj: Source: Full protections on New Orleans' 2018 first-round pick to Chicago in Mirotic deal: 2018: top 5; 2019: top 8; 2020: top 10; 2021: top 9. If somehow it still isn't conveyed to Bulls in 2021, it becomes a second-round pick in each of 2022 and 2023. This is pretty typical but as a fan I get so frustrated by NBA protections. In other sports, it seems like protections would go down as time goes on. You get player now, but if they don't work out like expected you can keep pick, but eventually I get the pick. In the NBA it's like I get to keep pick if we lose too much, but also next year if we lose slightly less, but also the year after that if we lose the same amount, and if we never fit in that window...well deals off. Oh I mean I will have gotten the value from you, but sorry, you get nothing. Or at the very least I would just demand "if pick is still in top 10 by 2020, then Chicago has right to swap picks, if no swap, THEN 2 second rounders" Just stupid imo.

I think only one of Gomez and Rondon make it to start, and they let Infante start out again.

Keith Law White Sox System Write-Up
I posted this elsewhere but interesting nonetheless, Baseball America said that Zevala was actually behind Collins in catching ability. Now that conflicts with Futuresox who said he's average, but fair to say that for as much as we talk about the work collins needs to do, so does Seby.

Keith Law White Sox System Write-Up
Is there a reason for 18? Does he go for FV like all 45 value and above prospects? Happy to hear positive stuff on Micker. Last year at least with Longenhagen, people kept asking and the response was "he hasn't really changed anything in his swing to get excited about", but over the winter things have changed. That means to me: - industry scouts are higher on him. - He looked good in whatever instructionals or winter league he was in. I'm excited for Basabe this year.

SoxFest and the Farm
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 09:20 AM) On my Big Board as of today, this is how I have the outfields: MLB: Cordell/Engel/AGarcia, 4OF: Delmonico/Leury AAA: May/Tilson/WGarcia, DH/OF Palka, 4OF Robbins AA: Fisher/Polo/Jimenez, DH/OF Hawkins, 4OF Gelalich A+: 4-rota of Call/Basabe/Booker/Adolfo with DH, 4OF: Schnurbusch A: 4-rota of Robert/Rutherford/Gonzalez/Dedelow with DH, 4OF: Taylor ***Rk/EXT: Destino, Frost, Garcia, Coronado, Brown, Staudinger, etc. Worth noting that Destino and Frost both saw some infield work time at the hitters' camp, so they may be working to get them into A-ball somehow. Well the Kanny defense should have some range. I do just hate being forced to lose reps for fringe CFers like Rutherford already at low levels.

2017 Offseason White Sox News, Notes, and Tweets thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 09:18 AM) Thats because the Cubs sucked and Brock became a Hall of Famer. The Sox made a bad trade. Not the first or last time it will ever happen. Get over it and stop whining And damn, tatis hasnt even left A ball yet. Lets not crown him a hall of famer just yet Sadly he actually did go to AA and kept destroying.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 11:43 PM) Gotta start rooting for teams like DEN, PHI, DET, LAC (although that's unlikely) etc. now. Want that NO pick in the 10-15 range. I won't get greedy since 6-10 is highly unlikely unless someone decides to pull a Tanya Harding on AD's legs.. Yeah problem is so few teams in the west are unlikely to push them. Best you can hope is 8th seed from them honestly.

Sox Sign RHP Bruce Rondon
QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 07:54 AM) It is a lot of enthusiasm for a negative WAR player. The ultimate "flyer" player. I will say we've signed a lot of guys with high-80s type stuff that may work as a situational player. This is the only arm you can squint real hard and say "this could be dominant". But it's a minor league deal so no big deal. I am still pretty positive on Minaya and Infante who I thought made big strides and handled pressure well.

2017-2018 NFL Thread
Yeah I don't know, I go both ways. I do think fox didn't get the best out of loggains, but loggains could have switched things up in 2nd halves and all of it was remarkably bleh. The frustrating thing was he could put together some beautiful plays, I just don't think he had a handle on a full scheme that could consistently utilize personnel.

White Sox interested in adding a DH
I’ve asked this before but who was the best prospect sent along in a salary dump? Touki was bought. Also lost in that article was Kip Wells looking to go into a front office analyst position which is pretty interesting.

All 30 MLB clubs will now have nets extended past dugouts for the 2018
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 02:04 PM) From the White Sox: As a Season Ticket Holder, we want to make sure you're aware of the extended netting that will be installed from Sections 122-127 and 137-142 and will be 30-feet high, matching the height of the backstop. The state-of-the-art netting above the dugout near these sections will have the ability to lift, allowing interaction with fans pregame and at other times. Good info thanks. I was wondering if they could just work it like field goal nets. Sounds like they can.
