  1. Grant is my least favorite type of point guard, where his assist stats look good, but you watch him and realize he just holds and dribbles around until he can get someone a midrange jumper fairly open.
  2. Guy I'm hoping is stateside for AZL start: Kleyder Sanchez. Sox converted him to catcher, as a 17 year old had a contact heavy profile in DSL, batting .342. Hoping that it showed up to scouts and isn't just a random weird approach that won't work.
  3. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 02:20 PM) Did they devalue pitching overall or did they devalue starting pitching while also adding value to relievers to better reflect the current game? On Effectively Wild they said pitching overall and it was due to injury or velo loss. Really would like to see burdi be able to go 2+ innings. What a weapon that would be.
  4. Is Zangari on pace to play for ST do you know? Unsure if the road back for position player TJS is different.
  5. wow! I couldn't even begin to think about something this big. The one that surprised me was you putting Zangari at 1b in Kanny. I think looking at something like this is why it's probably hard for sox fans to hear we aren't that deep. Compared to 2 years ago, super deep, but probably just have way more 40 FV guys than before and less 45's than others.
  6. You know what's really interesting is McDaniel and Longehagen made a point to devalue pitching overall in their top 100, and still ranked Burdi in it. They must really really like his stuff.
  7. Yeah, unfortunately seems like the classic Comp rounder.
  8. Liked this write-up at 20 Xavier Edwards SS North Broward Prep HS FL Vanderbilt Some argue the 5-foot-9 shortstop is better than Turang, but only his size is making scouts hesitate. Either way, the tools are real: an 80 runner with a 60 arm, tools for shortstop, and lots of contact from both sides of the plate. There are a lot of interesting writeups on OFers. It feels like with our situation we may avoid OFers though.
  9. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 10:04 AM) Kinda random but it's a really strange coincidence that Roy Halladay, who he lost the Cy Young to, died in a plane crash as did his wife who he was in the process of divorcing, the singer Jenni Rivera. That...is weird.
  10. And it sounds like from Garfein, even though it's pitchers and catchers in a few days, quite a few position players are there already. Love the buy-in. Er, hope we have the right coaches!
  11. That's really sad. He could have made such a big impact and this is what he decided to do. Really disappointing.
  12. Obviously click on the link, but gonna point this out: De Sadas "The switch-hitter doesn’t blow scouts away but has a wide base of average to above-average tools and feel for the game, though some question if he can stick at shortstop." It had been a while since we'd heard scout input on him and that sounds like not a 4th overall pick. Turang: "While Turang has been as the top player in his prep class for years, some scouts saw regression this summer, while others think he’s bored. He has 50 raw power, 60 speed, can be plus at shortstop ,and had a long track record of hitting that came to an abrupt end last June." At 4th overall (though this isn't a mock draft), they had Liberatore: "Liberatore is the prototypical high-school pitching prospect. He’s an athletic, projectable 6-foot-5 with a low-90s fastball, plus curveball, and promising changeup feel. You can go nuts projecting on his stuff, and he already has somewhat advanced feel to pitch." A pretty favorable Madrigal write-up too. Not the most exciting read in the top ten in terms of position players, though Kelenics was fun. Gotta hope some surprises happen in college that could push a Gorman/Hankins down. Although judging by recent drafts, doesn't it seem likely that Singer is gonna be there at 4?
  13. If the Sox made this move in a similar position I’d be glad. Oh no it will hurt our flexibility in FOUR YEARS? Who cares. You never know what will happen that far out, and teams the past few years have shown to be adept at moving contracts deemed “immovable”.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2018 -> 06:15 AM) Dodgers have never had problems adding players they wanted despite those tax issues. If they wanted him he would have been there It’s a new CBA.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2018 -> 05:47 AM) Kind of like the Dodgers being unwilling to resign Darvish after going to the World Series with him. Player evaluation is weird, man Dodgers have luxury tax issues the cubs don’t have.
  16. I like the idea of De Sadas more but it will be easier to tell once we get more reports on these guys.
  17. signing Players based off of playoff performances is a bad idea.
  18. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 02:34 PM) Because of course the Astros would also get a Top 5 Catcher on the cheap. Jeeze cancel the season. That’s like. 56 WAR team
  19. Oh my god Missouri almost had an all time collapse again but pulled off a huge OT comeback.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 01:57 PM) That deal will not age well, but Theo will just spend more money to cover the holes. As he should.
  21. https://theintercept.com/2018/02/09/donald-...a-election-nsa/ Bizarre story, but an example of why US congress should be running a thorough investigation into the Russian operation during the 2016 election without just running cover for the admin.
  22. I just wish they would have the bullpen more at the ASB. That would have more than solved the problems.
  23. Just can't get over how weird this Fultz business is.
