  1. If you guys don't want to feel better about the situation read this: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/pr...a85a1f4eb9.html Now, wainwright somehow recovered in 5 months and pitched in relief, but this is literally a "no one is the same" injury, with pitchers seemingly the best?
  2. I know it's spring training but man is gameday crap so far this year. Full innings behind.
  3. I recommend no more over 30 safeties.
  4. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 03:15 PM) Collins? I must have missed that. He's available for today's game. My bad, I substituted first round picks. Meant to say Burger.
  5. Trying to think what the best injury I can hope for is. I wrote last week after Honeywell went down how I always forget that after the initial excitement Spring Training is mostly just waiting and hoping no UCLs burst. But man, I know Jimenez doesn't have a bad injury, but Adolfo and now Burger, our hitters are getting picked off one after another. edit: originally said collins and not burger.
  6. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 12:57 PM) that's like a split squad lineup. yikes. If you want to be scared, that's like 7/9ths of a sunday lineup this year.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 09:43 AM) I tried to get into it, but shut it off with 10 minutes left in the first episode. You just need to skip three episodes and then ask a bunch of questions to my wife to catch up, then it's golden.
  8. I think Eloy is going to be a bigger fan favorite, Yoan will probably be better.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 09:15 AM) Just finished it last night. The last 2 episodes are fantastic. Yeah I don't think I'll be far behind. I almost like it's all in subtitles because I can't multitask and lose my place. It's also just beautifully shot, incredible quality.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 08:12 AM) Unless some team was already sold he was a top 5 or so guy, probably enough to where some team will get a steal. That was my guy. All he needs is a little more power. He size might make teams balk, but there are several little guys with a bit of pop that are doing quite well. I don't think it will affect his stock too much. He'll still get to play a bit and he has so much tape on him.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 5, 2018 -> 10:39 AM) Wound up watching the 1st episode of Altered Carbon. It was a little tough to watch because of the script and acting. A bit cringe-inducing after watching 3 or 4 really well-acted shows recently and then jumping into this. I'll give it a little time before I jump back in. Also checked out the 1st episode of Babylon Berlin. Pretty intriguing so far. Babylon Berlin has me hooked. My wife started watching it and I was just sitting there around episode 4, and we basically finished season 1 and couldn't stop watching.
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 09:50 PM) Kendall Rogers @KendallRogers 6m6 minutes ago More .@BeaverBaseball All-American Nick Madrigal had an X-ray tonight following a left hand injury. #Beavs team doctor will meet with him tomorrow. Fear is that he could miss 4-6 weeks. More tomorrow. #MLBDraft Officially broken.
  13. resigning myself to just watching gifs later.
  14. dang, forgot i get blacked out on mlb games when i stream radio online
  15. I am so freakin excited to see Robert not in a batting cage. Dude has been basically a myth up until today.
  16. hellll yessssss Can't wait to trash a player after one at bat.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 09:36 AM) Royals finding market inefficiency in low-risk reclamations https://sports.yahoo.com/news/royals-findin...23694--mlb.html Similar concept...Chris Young, Blanton, Madson, Medlen (didn’t work out) etc. We have/had Kahnle (sold low?), Swarzak, Jennings, (Crain going further back) and now a TON of reclamation guys along with 10-12 legit young prospects (including Burdi/Cease/Lopez/Fulmer.) But that original KC pen was an absolute monster...Herrera, Hochevar, Collins, W.Davis and Holland. And the Twins actually did the same thing, two distinct cycles, from 2002-2010. Ok but I'm talking about drafted arms.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 09:26 AM) I found something, and it's very weird. https://jaysjournal.com/2018/02/22/blue-jay...y-brett-lawrie/ Yeahhhh I can see why they DFA'd him.
  19. I have to say, I really would have thought this is all more egrigious. My takeaways are if this is the money being transacted to top talent (granted maybe only one venue), then NCAA can afford to pay decent stipends of 15k a year or something to each revenue generating athletic program., and smaller stipends to less. But also with how often the NCAA has tried to illegally use criminal proceedings to act as fact finding and enforcing wings of the NCAA itself, that the FBI's purpose is basically just enforcing NCAA rules I find disappointing.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 08:47 AM) Heyman did have an interesting White Sox note, whatever happened to Brett Lawrie? I know he wasn't the greatest, but he must really be messed up physically not to garner a spring invite from someone. I asked this in November in a catch all. Could only find some Toronto blogs asking to sign him. Nothing on the guy himself. I wonder if he's still recovering.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 07:34 AM) You are way too optimistic about White Sox prospects. It's one of the reasons why the bullpen strategy is interesting though. Some articles have noted either Haber or Fabian talking about how with bullpens being so valuable, draft relief arms might be an inefficiency to exploit. And we don't really count up our bullpen prospects because it seems so risk-filled and we have less info on them. But there is a conscious collection of guys such as Burdi, Hamilton, Veiera, Burr, Henzman, T. Johnson that all have interesting arms, as well as the likelihood of some failed starters maybe being dynamite in relief. It's a bit counting your chickens before they hatch, but sox specifically tried to make the above happen so it's interesting to see if it either works in the majors or provides them with trade chips.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 08:41 AM) He had back surgery. Hopes to be back by Opening Day. Oh ok. Noticed he hadn’t written in a while. Backs suck but glad it isn’t a more serious illness.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 08:16 AM) Morosi, to me, is the most inaccurate guy who actually gets a lot of face time on MLB Network. I don't think it's even close. Heyman is a Boras mouthpiece. That is well known, but he throws a lot of his own opinions out there. Rosenthal, to me, is the king, and he's on the DL. What do you mean by Rosenthals on the DL?
