Yeah I don't know, I go both ways. I do think fox didn't get the best out of loggains, but loggains could have switched things up in 2nd halves and all of it was remarkably bleh. The frustrating thing was he could put together some beautiful plays, I just don't think he had a handle on a full scheme that could consistently utilize personnel.

I’ve asked this before but who was the best prospect sent along in a salary dump? Touki was bought. Also lost in that article was Kip Wells looking to go into a front office analyst position which is pretty interesting.

All 30 MLB clubs will now have nets extended past dugouts for the 2018

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 02:04 PM) From the White Sox: As a Season Ticket Holder, we want to make sure you're aware of the extended netting that will be installed from Sections 122-127 and 137-142 and will be 30-feet high, matching the height of the backstop. The state-of-the-art netting above the dugout near these sections will have the ability to lift, allowing interaction with fans pregame and at other times. Good info thanks. I was wondering if they could just work it like field goal nets. Sounds like they can. -

QUOTE (Quin @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 01:46 PM) Wouldn't get the Nets pick, but I could see RoLo, Holiday, Jimmy TPE for Shump, Calderon and the Cavs 1st and future second. Then send Nelson to Wizards for a second this year. This is more realistic but I don't think Bulls are interested in getting rid of holiday. -

I do think about what it would be like if we had the nationals amount of talent and the thought of getting out of the first round just seems impossible. -

Bulls should try and make Utah better. Looking at the west, there isn't a team that is gonna push new orleans down. Clips are out of it. Lakers, memphis, phoenix? hell. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 12:07 PM) And they can still be screwed if the 2014 Verlander, or worse, shows back up. They could then still use a Kyle Tucker or the best pitching prospect in baseball to get an upgrade. ZIPS has them with 52 WAR. They have some cushion. For all of the verlander aww man what if they didn't get him or if he was bad, they could also have gotten Darvish and been worse, and Verlander has talked about how all of the information they provided him made him better. If you read only soxtalk you'd think the astros fell ass backwards into a world series title. -
Heyman has had pretty much non-existent info the last 2 years on the white sox so gonna guess this is agent driven and that sox don't sign anyone.

I think the bulls are the ones with the swapping ability in 2021. -

Glad the pick was only top 5 protected, for a while the way tweets were coming out it seemed like it may not even be a 2018 pick. The trade takes a little bit of a hit for me though with the monroe signing. I felt pretty confident that team was gonna falter. They are still worse, but may only be the last team out in the west. -
Loggains was OC in Tennessee too.
-
I think Loggains will be redeemed a bit in Miami, but not like he'll call plays. I don't think he was as strong willed as Gase to run the offense he wanted. Sounds like Fox did meddle a lot in the game planning.

QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 11:02 AM) Hard to see that happening. Heck the only guy we signed we probably overpaid by quite a bit signing him early. Take at the Avila signing what did he get? 8 milllion over 2. What did we pay Castillo 15.5 million over 2? Eh, if Avila is healthy its a great deal. But Avila has had a lot of difficulty staying on the field compared to Castillo, who is a consistent 110 game a season guy (and also slightly younger). The market just doesn't seem likely to bite at 1 season sample sizes unless the guy is 25-26. -

D'oh, sorry he is responding to a person asking where Tim Anderson would go in a 2013 redraft. JJ Cooper was talking about how with Appel retiring, the 2013 draft is one of the worst in recent memories aside from Bryant. -

Something about the bulls makes people crazy. If this was any other sport you'd know this just means something is close enough they aren't risking it. They obviously aren't in a place where they have nothing but are saying "we'll trade him at any cost!" -
I was looking at the BA top 200 for like 20 minutes thinking "draft x then go after y in 2nd round" but reality is until these guys start becoming part of consistent weekly chats with info I have no idea. I don't like that recent writeup on De Sadas. I would like bat + 2nd round pitcher, but in a draft full of deep HS pitching you could just go big on pitching.

The idea that the Royals would have been okay with Brandon Moss instead of Hosmer is actually pretty damning there, Morosi. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 12:33 PM) It would mean we failed with a whole lot of pitching prospects. There isn't a pitching staff that exists that couldn't use Chris Sale.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 10:52 AM) It's not so much "rigged" as "god damn Democrats are f***ing awful at politics" because they keep prioritizing "how much money can you raise to pay our consultants?" over "do you have good ideas and can you actually win?" though. When the preference you're pushing to the forefront is "raise money so we can enrich our garbage consultant class," I think it's fair to expect some criticism over that. We're not talking about competing grassroots efforts here. eta: the end of that big chunk I just quoted to SB kinda directly contradicts your "they're just whining" angle, too. You are right, it may be an annoying group of progressive media. But I'll stand by it. Just keep running. Nobody is actually stopping you. Is the Illinois Democratic Party and Daniel Biss going to have stopped Ramirez-Rosa from becoming a prominent politician, or the fact that Ramirez-Rosa keeps not running for promotions? Why the hell is he not just running for Gov himself, or Congress himself, or Mayor himself? The DNC and DCCC are just fundraising organizations. They've made terrible decisions all my life, they've also been beaten consistently all my life. There's a reason Obama relied outside it. So if you actually lose because the DCCC supported a s***ty candidate you...probably just aren't good.
-
Bernie Sanders lost because he couldn't win over black Democrats specifically.
-
I'm kinda tired of the progressives consistently reaching for things being rigged when people don't fall over themselves to make sure their candidates win every time. They seem consistently surprised that other people have other preferences and would try to push those to the forefront to the point that I have to ask "when do you think that will stop being the case?" They aren't the incumbent power. They get benefits from that and they get penalties from that, but part of becoming the incumbent power means beating them and not constantly just whining. They are as annoying as libertarians were 10 years ago, saying "80% of people agree with this narrow issue we talk about!" "If people just got out of the two party mold, man, everyone would be a LIBERTARIAN". Just keep winning and winning in face of opposition because the same thing is going to happen when they are in power and then say "oh sheesh, everyone agrees with us but these people keep rigging it so we can't enact our policies!" and then they get routed for being ineffectual.

Ex-Sox Oscar Gamble has passed away according to Twitter (Heyman)

Aw man that's sad. RIP. -
I just want to say that even though I think this isn't a good trade for the Washington football team that I think Smith is a qb that can play at roughly the same level to age 40. He has been a pretty healthy qb who is mobile but doesn't rely on mobility. His game isn't predicated on deep ball (at all).
